Our stay last weekend was a pleasant surprise!!!
We were suppose to stay 2 nights at another B&B that was closer to town, but that establishment was full by the time we made our reservations. Guest at "the other" B&B were friends of ours, as we were all in town for a wedding. We were at first disappointed that we would not be staying with everyone else. Let me just say that based on the reviews from many staying at the other establishment, we were lucky that there was no room at THAT Inn. As it turned out, there were a few more couples that were lucky enough to be booked at The Charleston. :)
The Charleston Inn is warm and inviting. As were the proprietors. The gathering rooms and dining room are large and decorated very nicely. Complimentary alcoholic drinks and lite appetizers were served each afternoon. There are snacks, water, coffee and tea available 24/7. The included breakfast is a special treat. We were offered our choice of different entrees each morning of our stay. Some of the choices were Eggs Benedict, waffles, French toast, scrambled eggs, along with a fruit and yogurt parfait. And the best grits ever!
Our room was a King Mini Suite on the 3rd floor. Easily walk-able, and quiet. Mattresses and bedding were brand new and very comfortable. We had a large shower with 2 shower heads. Our closet was a walk-in large enough to hold an extra bed for a third person and still have room to move around. It was like a second bedroom!
We very much enjoyed our stay at The Charleston and hope to return in the...
Read moreI give kudos to the front staff for helping me when I goofed on the reservation date - they were very accommodating and helpful!. The location of the Inn is great for visiting downtown Hendersonville. The room was adequate - the bed was very comfortable. I did read that the B&B is on the National Historic Registry - I don't know if that precludes the owners from some needed updates or not. While I appreciate in keeping with the period theme, the facility could use some updating. Our bathroom had old fixtures and the toilet plumbing needs to flush better. When reading about amenities, I thought Arabella's was the B&B's restaurant - it's not. It is a local restaurant in downtown Hendersonville - about a 2 min walk from the B&B and you get $10 gift certificates to apply to your meal - they do not cover the cost of a meal. It's a shame, because the B&B has a great setup for serving breakfast - a large dining room on the first floor. Beverages are available in the dining room, free of charge. Each of the rooms has its own air conditioner - ours worked well, although it was extremely old and noisy and the volume on the TV had to be turned up to hear over the AC. Getting to local channels was also a challenge - the accompanying sheet could have been clearer. The door locking system took some getting used to and even though the staff asks that everyone lock the front door on exiting, that did not always happen - maybe if the locks were easier to use or automatically locked on closure, similar to a...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Hendersonville, NC and didn’t make any reservations ahead of time. We decided to stay at the Charleston Inn for their great location; walkable to downtown and breweries. We were greeted by Mavia, who was working the front desk. I must say if it wasn’t for Mavia’s smiling face, friendliness, can-do attitude, and welcoming demeanor, this stay would have been no different than staying at any other B & B places. She really made us feel welcome at all times, accommodated us at every turn, and one night she even came back in on her way out at the end of her shift to take care of our request. Thank you Mavia for making our stay so much more pleasant and memorable. We stayed from 7/18-7/21 in room 319. The room is spacious and clean, and the bed is very comfortable. The chair and the couch in the room are not very comfortable, especially if you have a bad back. They sink in. The happy hour was a lot of fun. We sat on their huge porch and enjoyed our wine and snacks. There are ceiling fans, but I really recommend additional oscillating fans to keep all the mosquitos away. We still had a great time though. I put on tons of mosquito repellent. I would highly recommend staying at the Charleston Inn. It is a beautiful place and you get to meet one of the friendliest , most pleasant person in hospitality...
