Royal Motel — Hotel in Hermitage

Avoid like the plague. I had stayed there once before and thought no reason not to stay again: reasonable price, old/plain but serviceable room, so I made 2 more reservations, talking with the proprietor by phone: I gave dates, asked price, made reservations, gave credit card. But when I arrived for the first stay he charged me $10 more (before tax) than the stated price. When I said it was higher than quoted he said this was the "weekend rate". But he knew the dates when he quoted me the price. Whatever, I didn't make a fuss and I stayed anyway. When, on my return trip, I arrived at 11pm for my reserved room (he had promised me repeatedly that he would hold a first floor room for me) he said he had no reservation for me. He claimed "the website says you have to reconfirm." But I was never ON the website. I was talking to him AT LENGTH on the phone when I made the reservation, and he never said anything about reconfirming. By this time all local hotels were booked and I had to drive 30 minutes to find a room. He lies about the price, he is very rude, and he breaks promises. Avoid this place!!!! BTW, When he claimed he had no room for me, he was still showing a "vacancy" sign. I pointed this out. He said he needed to get the sign repaired. But surely if he had no rooms he could turn the "vacancy" off even if the "no" was burned out? I have to wonder if he doesn't like lesbian couples and so denied us the room on our return trip. Got a non-smoking king size bed room. Reading the reviews I was a little iffy. The people working there are a little hard to understand it seemed like English wasn't their first language. I got my key to my room and it was a bit difficult to unlock my door I actually thought I had the wrong room and or the wrong key. Getting into the room I checked everything the drawers for damage and if anyone left anything (like bad things). I checked the TV some of the channels were wrong on the guide but the TV worked so I didn't care ha. It came with a microwave and a fridge but I think the fridge was unplugged or not working. I also checked all the water like the sink and the shower to make sure they work and it was good. Then I checked the bed at this point I was scared because someone said they found bugs in there bed so I really checked the bed and didn't find anything. Over all the room was clean, staff was nice but difficult to understand, the place was walking distance from alot of stores and was only $50. I would 100% stay there again and more or...

The owner was extremely rude, I had one towel and there was 2 of us so i had to ring the bell outside for 15 minutes in the rain at 7 pm and asked for a towel, she told me come back in the morning no. So i said “oh other hotels have service all night i didn’t know this was different i’m sorry” and she said “oh we do have it all night” so she just didn’t wanna do it. I had something on my pillow, i asked for a new one and i had to fight tooth and nail for one at all. Ended up driving all the way to Meijers in Ohio in the middle of the night to get one which i believe should’ve been included in service. After 5 pm she claimed no service and any questions or concerns you have to wait till the morning. Online it says check out is 11AM and she told me 9:30AM.
