A couple years ago we visited Highlands the week of Thanksgiving and it was so charming, we knew we had to plan a return trip. Then I discovered The Park on Main on TripAdvisor and I just knew it would be perfect for us! Our cocker spaniel, Honey Dew, travels with us. I love that TPOM normalizes traveling with a pet. No daily pet fees - so refreshing! It really takes the anxiety out of travel when you’re staying in a place with like-minded people. And aren’t dog lovers just the very best?! Upon arriving we immediately made friends (human and furry) in the courtyard! One patron we met said it was his fifth stay at TPOM. High praise! We chose a King Suite and it was roomy and relaxing, with a little living room (couch, tv, fridge, desk), a great walk-in shower, heated floors in the bathroom, a very comfortable King bed, and a little balcony. The courtyard is stunning with double fountains and seating tucked away in different areas with beautiful landscaping. It reminds me of the romantic courtyards in Savannah. The continental breakfast was absolutely 5 stars, with delicious little pastries, sparkling water, juices, coffee, jellies and cream cheese, muffins, croissants, even bacon and hard boiled eggs! My husband loved the bagel sandwiches. We woke up early each day just to make sure we had plenty of time to enjoy ourselves. TPOM is situated in a convenient spot in Highlands. I designed a little food tour for us as we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, and walking to each restaurant was great! We felt very safe and relaxed. It’s also a good hub for exploring local waterfalls and trails. But I have to say that what takes TPOM from nice to exceptional is the staff. Everyone is invested in making sure you love your experience here. I told my husband after we left that I doubt we’ll ever come across another place as special as this. I’ve traveled all over the world and I feel qualified to say that TPOM is truly a hidden gem. So many little details meant a lot to us: the cozy bathrobes, the unique cookies in the lobby, the complimentary bottles of water, the little dog park, the seamless and elegant decor and color scheme. We are already planning to return because Honey Dew is on a mission to meet the elusive Mr....
Read moreI visited Highlands, NC from 7/15/21 - 7/19/21 and was delighted to have stayed at the Park on Main. Diana warmly greeted me + my dog on arrival and from the start, made us feel very welcome. Any other time we saw Diana during our visit, she made sure to check in and connect with us. In fact, every single team member was gracious and hospitable, which made our stay even better.
The rooms are very clean and well appointed. The entire hotel is super quiet, which was a great delight. Even on Sunday, when many guest s had departed and the housekeeping team was working to clean the rooms, we never heard a vacuum or any disruptive noise. The overall quiet of the hotel environment was an unexpected, but very welcome feature!
The hotel has a dedicated dog park about a block away and my dog enjoyed running in the park and sniffing around. This was also a great feature and their policy of not charging extra for dogs was a key selling point.
During our stay, the housekeeping staff was not entering guest's rooms for daily cleaning. Instead, we were provided a bag for dirtied towels and another bag for garbage. We were asked to leave these bags outside our room and clean, wrapped towels were replenished on request. I actually preferred this housekeeping model. It allowed me and my dog to have more of an Air Bnb experience without working around the housekeeping cleaning schedule.
The hotel has a lovely courtyard, but we enjoyed time on our balcony, overlooking a beautiful garden facing away from Main Street. The hotel serves a basic continental breakfast, making sure all food items are individually wrapped (per Covid protocols).
I cannot wait to return to Highlands and stay again at Park on Main. It is well worth the expense to have a quiet, super clean, relaxing hotel near all the Main Street action. I highly recommend Park on Main and its professional and...
Read moreWhat an amazing boutique hotel. It truly deserves its excellent rating on TA. It is a beautiful hotel with a classy dog theme throughout and the rooms were just lovely. Dog beds, dog blankets, bowls, doggie goodie bags on check in and a constant supply of dog treats in the lobby. Mr. Pickles dog park is a short five minute stroll from the hotel. As we were travelling with an old basset we requested a ground floor room which we were allocated facing the side street. Rooms open to a courtyard with pretty seating areas and landscaping. |We reserved a one bedroom king which was perfect- comfy bed, marble type bathroom and a living area. Humans also are offered coffee, tea and cookies throughout the day, and there is a fridge in the lobby stocked with complimentary water, juice, milk etc. A light continental breakfast hits the spot - bagels, cream cheese, |pastries and pre prepared breakfast sandwiches etc. |The staff really make this hotel special. They are so welcoming, helpful and friendly. I absolutely love that they foster a shelter dog at the hotel who has spent far too much time at the local humane society . Not only does this provide a respite from kennel life but fingers crossed a furever home will be found. The current foster, Bandit, is a beautiful, friendly dog who hopefully will find his permanent family soon. |Finally, I must say that this hotel is spotlessly clean. There is not one whiff of a doggie smell anywhere - they are meticulous in their cleaning. Whether you are travelling with a pet or not this is the place to stay in Highlands. Our basset hound and coonhound are ready for a...
