So, I have never stayed in a Microtel and wasn't sure what to expect for $60 a night. The drive up the street to the hotel wasn't terrible, but it wasn't a red carpet either. All the employees we experienced were very nice and accommodating. The hotel is obviously older with an okay paint freshen-up. The breakfast was okay... but did not include any hot food beyond a waffle maker and sausage gravy for a biscuit. Our first (yes I said first) room was smaller with a single full bed. It smelled a bit musty walking in. As we went through the first night, the A/C was obviously not working properly as I had it set all night for 64 trying to cool it off and it was 72 in the room. The remote up-channel button didn't work (I know, first-world problems, but I digress). The bath tub faucet was loose and when I turned it to tighten it, the water was coming out sideways and the curved shower curtain rod was loose so the weight of the shower curtain would all gather to the middle. I mentioned these issues to the attendant on our way out the door the next morning and she said she would get maintenance on it while we were gone. Came back in the evening and the air still didn't work, the curtain rod was still loose and they put the lounge remote in our room which wouldn't work at all with the t.v. when I called about the a.c. again, they moved us to the next floor and guess what... The same problem with the a.c. 🤦♂️. Will have to ask others in the hotel if they are having the same problem, but there are other reviews stating the same issue. Keep the staff, remodel the hotel, including...
Read moreThis is a hard one to review..there are some pluses but lots of minuses. This hotel is in a very convenient but congested area. Lots of restaurants nearby. Saying that it is noisy. The trash truck woke me up around 5am on Monday and I was in the 2nd floor. I had reservations for 2 connecting rooms since I was traveling with my elderly parents and my Father had Alzheimer’s. I needed to be nearby to reassure and help my Mother. The rooms we were initially given were next to each other but not connected. The first smelled of cigarette smoke so strongly that there was no way we could stay in it, we smelled it as soon as I opened the door and I get migraines and my Father is super sensitive to smells. Plus you are not supposed to smoke in the rooms! Well they weren’t able to get us rooms together but another just 2 doors down. I was told it was a “Suite” and “they weren’t supposed to give it out” but the only difference was it had a couch. The rooms were clean and comfy but need to be updated badly. Paint is old along with the carpet. The tub, sink and dressers are all in great condition and the bed was comfy. The pillows need to be much better. We stayed for 2 nights and the hotel must of found someone to take the smokey smelling room, it was right next to me and I could easily hear whomever was in there. Wyndham needs to definitely do some updating here. The staff was very polite and helpful and...
Read moreThis hotel is what you'd expect for the price that you are paying. It's a good price for a clean room, friendly staff, and a decent breakfast. I just stayed one night as I was passing through on a road trip, and I was glad that I was able to find an affordable option that provided a clean room and bathroom. Sometimes, cheap hotels don't provide that.
The room itself was smaller than a typical hotel room, but I actually thought it was very cute. The mirror above the bed made the room feel less tight, and they were innovative with their design to fit as much storage as possible in the room.
Breakfast was a typical continental breakfast with bagels, cereal, fruit, yogurt, and coffee and juice. While I've definitely had better continental breakfasts before, I'm not that picky about breakfasts that I don't have to plan, so i thought it was fine. Plus, many hotels that are at this price don't offer a breakfast, so that's a bonus.
The only reason I'm giving this four stars instead of five is because the bed isn't super comfy and the sheets are a little stiff, but for a cheap hotel, I am just happy to not have bed bugs, so I was even happier with the charm that this place had. I'd...
