We booked a king suite with sleeper couch and jacuzzi tub but was contacted about room needing to be changed due to renovations happening on the property.
We were, at the time staying at the Greenville SC location which is also going through renovations. We considered finding another hotel but as it was less than 24 hrs we just stuck with it, bad mistake.
Check in was easy & smooth. Lobby was prettily decorated for the holiday. The night desk clerk was friendly & helpful. Upon entering our suite, we saw how old & in need of the renovation the hotel was in. Mini fridge cabinet was on its last legs, a danger for our youngest. The walls were visibly peeling or bulging. Despite asthetics, room was clean & tidy. We were getting settled and changing for dinner out when my husband told everyone to rput our shoes on; fire alarming was ringing.! Turns out it was just a test, no biggie we are leaving for the evening. That was a small omen to the evening. The fire alarm went off 2x more before midnight then again 2x during night. At one point the fire department showed up as well. There were a small handful of guests and it was sad that we all stopped leaving our rooms because of the nuisance. What if it had been real?! How would we have known the difference?
I put a towel under our door to help muffle the noise. I’m currently expecting, on night time meds and all the noise made it very hard to have a decent nights sleep. Bad way to wake up to the new year.
We woke late due to the disturbed sleep and lack of rest. I was heading downstairs to quickly grabbing our kids some breakfast, hubby refused to stay any longer than he had to, but found out elevators were locked out due to the fire alarm being triggered. I didn’t mind having to walk down to breakfast area but I asked the desk attendants about how we we were supposed to leave with our luggage without an elevator. The reply was that Maintenance was coming soon to fix it, husband was not going to be happy with that news. Downside to walking down stairs to breakfast was the clutter & smells of renovation, not a big thing, but in my condition it sucked! Breakfast bar was limited due to size of hotel but it was well stocked & cleaned. I grabbed everything I needed for kids. Told attendant the fire alarms made for a rough night, she informed me that a leak on roof had triggered alarm and they had to wait for it to be fixed too. We were packed up and out of the hotel before check out time. I had assumed after the ease of staying at the Greenville location our stay in Durham would be similar; I hope they get their issues fixed soon. Im disappointed that hotel didn’t take time to apologize to guests for nuisance, offer a discount or points for the...
Read moremade an online reservation for a one night stay due to a medical procedure being done at UNC.I got to the hotel to be told I never made an online reservation. Ok so I made one there. I was recommended to stay there with the medstay discounted rate. I saved the pictures of the online reservation just to be told by the manager oh that's not the right rate. Instead of $89 he says $99 ok fine whatever. Then charges me $137 for the stay. The room I was in had their fire detector hanging from the ceiling by the wires and the tv didn't work. Went to front desk just to be told she can't do anything I asked to be moved to a room with a functional tv. She moves us to another room on 2nd floor and was nice enough to make sure we were ok. Next morning I go to have my surgery come out of surgery to look and see I'm charged another $106 from this hotel. I told my mom and she called to explain things since again I just had surgery. The manager was rude unprofessional and hung up on my mom calling her a liar. So we proceeded to come to the hotel to try to fix the issue. Get to the hotel and there was another couple infront of us complaining about the same double charge. Again the manager was basically telling them it wasn't his issue and rushing them to call their bank. When I approached and showed the proof on my phone approached and showed the proof on my phone again that I was double charged he tried to say oh not showing in my system. When he said the previous day the same thing that his system doesn't match what I had online. Called corporate and they could see my online reservation I made Which the manager lied and said I didn't make on their end and the other reservation I was told I had to make when I got to the hotel. So how is it corporate can see these things but your hotel system can't? Again I didn't stay to argue with the manager because he was rude unprofessional and didn't take any responsibility or accountability for his hotel. I had to come over 2 hours away because I had a miscarriage of my daughter and had to have surgery to remove her. How heart wrenching it was to have to come that way just to be treated the way he treated us called me a liar still haven't gotten my other charge back. This man doesn't need to be running a hotel who knows how many people he's tried to...
Read moreI would give a 0 if there is one. It was totally a nightmare stayed in this hotel. I stayed in this hotel on 11/4/2022, and checked out on 11/5. I was put in room 315. I lost my $100 lululemon dark blue light jacket and my credit card was charged for the night, even though we booked the room through priceline and paid the stay already. I complained to the manager on the over-charge on Friday morning (11/11), but nothing had happened as of afternoon of 4pm 11/13. When I checked out around 8:40am on 11/5, the front desk couldn’t find me by name and room number and then realized that he put us in the wrong room. We were supposed to be put in room 316. I didn’t realize this would give us such a big hassle. I forgot my dark blue (deep sea color) lululemon hooded light jacket in the closet of the room 315 I stayed, and found out on 11/6. I called immediately at 7:52am Sunday morning (11/6) and asked the front desk to check. The gentleman said he didn’t see it in the lost and found. And the house keeper was not there, he was the only one in the front desk and can not go up and check. I asked if he can just call the room and ask. He said it won’t be polite to do so. He asked me to wait and he will try to ask house keeper to go up and check once they came, or wait for the guest to check out and ask… Around 11:17am, I called again, the front desk told me they found my jacket, it’s dark purple. I said my jacket is dark blue. I thought it’s just a mis-conception of color…today, my husband passed by the hotel (since we are almost 2 and half hours away) and picked the up the jacket. when he came back, he brought a dirty dark purple 32 degree down jack :( I don’t know what to say. The house keeper should have found the jacket on Saturday (11/5) after we checked out, Or Sunday after I called. I have to say either the house keeper or the guests stayed there Saturday night took the jacket. I am very upset because I thought holiday inn is a trustworthy hotel that will help the guest, and the guests stay there are also decent… We definitely won’t stay in this...
