We were placed in a older, area called the Cottages, they were in serious need of TLC. Doors missing screws, railings cracked, paint peeling. We were of course sucked into a 30-45 min meeting that turned into 3 hours. 😮😔 Where in Coral Reef are you? Not they placed us in The Cottages. I then showed pictures to agent, and was informed, ohhhh, that isn't part of Palmera 😮🤔 how'd we get there then? Were we moved? No! Why🙅🏽♀️ IDK. Myself, am a 100% disabled Marine Veteran, my wife is 64, and My Mother in law, is 82, and has had foot surgery and 2 knee replacements, and has to use a walker, I get by with braces and a cane. We had 5, steps up to the porch, to get to the door! We gave her the down stairs bedroom and, Is, and grandson we have custody of had, 18 stairs to second floor bedrooms. We had to buy bathtub mats to keep her and us from falling in tubs, and real Kleenex as what they provided were a joke. Also cabinet space, has zero room for groceries, and should have a pantry added. My wife stepped on carpet tacks, barefooted, because there isn't any, threshold plates covering them, where carpet meets the wood, and poorly lit stairs, in front of condo's and walkways. Then,on plus side, rooms were clean, beds and linens nice nice mattresses. 👍🏽 Very convenient to pool and hot tub, and it was well maintained. Convenient location to beach, restaurants, & shopping 10-15 minutes will get you there 👍🏽 Again though for foot traffic bikes, and golfing carts, crossings, and walkways are in serious need of lighting,,, it was so dark at night and too difficult to read signs, and locations, we drove past our roads, multiple times just because poor lighting of signage, and when raining, wheeeooh, terrible. We on last half of trip just stayed in if after 6:30 pm., not to risk a...
Read moreI own a Platinum week at Coral Reef. Once you are there, it is a wonderful place to be. That said, the ownership has been an overall negative experience. The third strike for me came when I was told in January 2021 that I could safely book my 2021 summer week so long as the balance was paid at least 30 days prior to booking.
I called on Tuesday, June 1st. My balance was paid and I was calling to book my week in July. I was then told that there were no more summer weeks available. I explained what was told to me and how my kids and I had been coming down there every summer for nearly 10 years, to which the staff member replied, “Sorry, but it’s first come - first serve.”
I paid my $1,188.27 Maintenance Fees for my allotted week #34 family vacation at Coral Reef to hear the lady on the other end of that phone call end the conversation by telling me, "I'm sorry Mr. Chaney, but there’s nothing I can do." So please keep in mind that if you choose to own a timeshare here, it will be valued on a “first come - first serve” basis. Your value in ownership is the ownership itself, which comes with an ever-increasing maintenance fee. Hilton Head is a wonderful place to visit, but beware of who you...
Read moreThe two bedrooms were upstairs. I don't know if there is an option for a bedroom on the first floor, and there are stairs up to the front door. The condo was very spacious with a great layout on the first floor, mostly an open floor plan, but enough separation between the living room, kitchen, and dining room to feel like 3 different rooms. I also liked that in addition to the two full bathrooms upstairs, there is a half bathroom on the lower level. Each rental comes with two parking spaces.
Tucked away in a residential area, it is really quiet and peaceful, and Shipyard is full of walkways along lagoons with plenty of wildlife viewing. It is about a mile from the Shipyard private beach access, or you could go to the Coligny public beach access. I recommend renting a bike if you can. The Bank is at the Pope entrance to Shipyard and is an easy bike ride for good food and casual...
