I don’t like to spread negativity but what I experienced here bothered me so much that I feel I need to call out the individual. My husband and I went here on a whim to get coffee and dessert (they have two wonderful gluten free desserts). The actual restaurant here is very nice, however upon Aririving we approached the hostess stand and while the hostess ( who was very polite and welcoming) was trying to communicate with us about where we would like to sit a lady standing at the bar, interrupted our conversation very loudly and said “ you can sit anywhere you want” while she may have had good intentions, she was obviously an owner or manager, her over bearing interjecting suggested that the hostess was to incompetent to communicate with us on her own and find us the right table. We sat down in the bar area and our kind waiter came to get our order and we ate our delicious desserts and drank our coffee. At some point our waiter was behind the bar trying to make a Bloody Mary. The same lady still standing at the end of the bar yells at him across the bar as he takes out the Bloody Mary mix from underneath the bar “ SHAKE THAT UP”, before he has a chance to respond she yells at him again, and once he realizes she is yelling at him he gently shakes the bottle, again, since I guess this was not not good enough for her, even louder she yells with disdain and irritation “SHAKE THE BLOODY MARY MIX”, the proceeds to roll her eyes. He was flustered and a little humiliated at this point and I felt for him. I would just like to say to whoever owns or runs this establishment, I noticed that there was Christian music playing through the speakers. Is this Christian behavior? This waiter was clearly somewhat new and trying to figure things out. He was. a little slow, but he was very kind and polite. What happened to patiently teaching someone with respect? A negative personality like this can affect your whole restaurant, while I understand everyone can have a bad day, when is it ok to humiliate someone, just because you have a...
Read moreHORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! We have been going to skillets for close to 20 years. Most of my experiences have been pretty good. Two days ago we had a very poor experience. We waited 40 minutes for a table and then another 15 minutes for a waitress to come over. With all the waiting we were still very happy to be at skillets. We ordered 4 meals and one did not come. While the other 3 were getting cold. After about 5 minutes I had to walk over to a hostess and let her know about the missing meal. She said would tell my waitress. 10 minutes later the waitress came over and told her about missing meal. She blamed it on the computer system it seemed strange since the missing meal was the 2nd meal ordered and the other ones came as ordered. About 20 minutes later the missing meal came, which is about 30-35 minutes later than the other meals. Food was fine, but when bill came the waitress did not take the 35 minute late meal off the bill. I asked her why she was not adjusting the bill, She she could not do anything. I asked for the manger. She came over and I told her about meal being over 30 minutes late. I asked her politely to remove the cost of the late meal. She raised her voice and said it was because they are under staffed and that’s why meal was delayed. I asked her again about the late meal and said she would give 10 percent off the meal. Then the the manager Deborah said, you can write bad things about me I DON’T CARE. Other people have written bad things in past. I just paid my bill and left. JUST HORRIBLE...
Read moreMy family and I came to skillets due to its closeness to hotel and there were plenty of good reviews. The service was great and our waiter was very attentive and patient so no problems there. The environment is like other touristy junctions where it's 50/50 a restaurant and gift shop. I ordered the special for the night, a prime rib steak (asked mid-rare cook) and a deviled crab cake. The crab cake was pretty fishy-tasting for a crab cake, making me think that actual crab or other substitutes may have been used. The steak was seasoned, but very gray.
My family ordered the potato chowder soup, beet salad, and the penne with shrimp and scampi. The soup was kinda salty but okay, and the salad was somewhat lukewarm and some of the romaine was starting to blacken at the core meaning that the vegetables were old or not stored properly. Even the beets were dry.
The scampi was probably the funniest part. The scampi sauce includes butter, garlic, and white wine. What we assumed to be a wine reduction was instead just straight up wine in the pasta. It doesn't take that long for wine to reduce, so the only reason such strong wine taste was in the pasta could have only been if it was added after the dish was plated! Honestly kinda funny how this happens but the food was practically inedible for my younger sister.
Overall, not going to come back and cannot rightfully recommend this establishment to...
