Beware of room 209!
I had been up since 1am the day I stayed here. I had spent my day Travelling through airports and then worked for many hours in a large manufacturing facility in Salt Lake City. I finally reached the hotel by 10 pm and wanted nothing but a comfortable place to sleep since I had to be up early for my flight back out.
I arrived to find that the parking lot was full but it is because the parking lot is very small. It wraps around 3/4 of the hotel. I was able to park for free in the parking lot across from the hotel and walk across the street to the hotel.
The front desk receptionist was kind and offered me a bottle of water. I told him I checked in on the app but would like a hard key. My phone was dead at this point. He did the right thing and verified my identity before giving me a key to a room I claimed was mine. I gave him my room number and he directed me to the elevators. Great.
I got into my room and heard what sounded like a whirlpool tub above me somewhere. Turns out I was wrong. It wasn't a whirlpool tub I was hearing. It was the large mechanical room beneath my room. There was a tremendously loud noise ALL NIGHT LONG. I woke up over.. and over.. and over.. and over all.. night.. long.. and when I slept, at one point I began dreaming about the sound and someone was working on it trying to fix it because something was wrong with some large machine. This was the absolute worst night I've had trying to sleep in a Hampton Inn.
When I explained my disappointment to the morning receptionist I was asked if anyone told me about the noise? No, They didn't tell me about the noise. My answer didn't seem to make a difference anyways so maybe they only asked out of curiosity.
I will never be able to stay here again and this hotel should not rent out any rooms that are connected to that huge loud machine room. My entire floor was literally vibrating from the sound. Completely ridiculous. I can see in the reviews that even 8 months ago people were complaining about the noise. As long as people keep staying and not saying anything about it I have to imagine this will continue to be a problem passed on to the customers.
Something needs to be done to fix this. I don't just mean for me or just for the people who speak up. Fix the actual...
Read moreWe've stayed at this hotel for several years when we have been in SLC to visit family and we have always had a good experience until this current stay. We usually stay on the 3rd floor and for whatever reason the staff put us up on the 5th floor and that way fine. We were scheduled to stay for the week before Thanksgiving. ||||The first night we arrived later in the evening and were tired from some family challenges along the way and were looking forward to a good bed and a nice hot shower; however, we didn't get a nice hot one we got LUKE-WARM water instead. I'd say it was COLD but my hubby said luke-warm. Either way, it wasn't hot. ||||Fast forward to the second day/night. When we left the room to head out into the world we asked housekeeping to leave some extra towels for us and the water was hot so we figured it was going to be okay. ||||We arrived back at our room later in the evening and the bed was made up and an extra blanket was on the foot of the bed. My husband moved the extra blanket and there was a round BROWN circle that looked like a stain maybe from a plate but who knows? He figured okay but it freaked me out so we took the bedspread off the bed; worked there on the computer for hours and then when it was time to go to sleep, I pulled the extra blanket up on me and there was a pile of dried up POOP! Yep, you read that right, folks! POOP! As you can imagine I called the front desk and Brian was helpful as best as he could be but gee whiz! This is horrible. How could this happen? I have no idea and I've been in the travel industry for 20+ years, traveled all over and I've never had this happen in the past. I almost would have rather had bugs. But NO, we got POOP! We checked out of the room and went to another hotel. The staff gave us 10,000 points for the water temp. and then didn't charge us for the next night (POOP night) but it doesn't feel like a good trade. It is so gross and I just cannot make sense of how something like this happens. ||||I won't stay at this...
Read moreGreat hotel for skiing. Brian at the front desk is the true star of the show, goes above and beyond for all guests and truly cares about your experience. His personality shines even at check in and any encounter we had with him was memorable and helpful.
We skiid Alta, Brighton (there is a Brighton and solitude bus fyi that stops right in front of the hotel if you don’t have a car), deer valley, solitude, and snow basin. Safe and fabulous location for skiing all the utah mountains. And they have a generous back room to store any large items before or after check out.
There is parking on premises but can be limited if super busy you park across the street which isn’t bad.
The rooms are clean and updated. The bathroom was very clean which I always appreciate esp the shower! The doors all have the unbreakable door stopper latches which is a great safety feature esp for women traveling solo or etc. Breakfast was great. They had a hot chocolate bar and tea available all day/night which is so lovely after a day of skiing.
Indoor pool and hot tub was great and open late.
My only recommendations for improvement is to have a pool towel drop by the first door so less people take them to their rooms so they can be replenished more quickly. And hot tub could really use a chlorine test check, it was low in my opinion.
Within walking distance we ate at happy sumo twice and were happy dining there. Great to have several walking distance restaurants.
Any questions about the hotel can find me on socials and the gram at...
