This Hotel in Fort Lauderdale! So Cheap It Feels Unfamiliar...

Rooms are old, outdated, and lots of things were broken or missing from our room. It's 10 floors, has a huge wall in pool, hot tub, restaurant on site,, although expensive, elevators don't always work, lots of extra fees, taxes, surcharges, and NOT on the beach. The Doubletree Resort has contracted with the H hotel across the street so Doubletree guests can walk across the street to the beach, tell the staff set up on the beach , that you're Staying at the Doubletree, give last name and Room #, and they will give each guest 1 towel, 1 lounge chair, and beach umbrella (unless it's an unusually windy day, then they don't put up the umbrellas). The best part about this hotel was the friendly staff, all but 1 employee throughout our entire 4 day stay, were wonderful. Even the guys at the beach. But be warned, there is mandated valet parking here, and you pay $40+tax a day/night for it plus tips. On top of the $40+tax forced valet, there's a $30+tax daily resort fee (included in that is your free beach towel, chair and umbrella and free bike rental a day), $101.70 hotel fee, and all of that is On top of the nightly room charge, and then at check in it's another $100 a night hold on your card, BUT, your nightly valet and $30+tax resort fee, comes out of the $100 night card hold, you'll get the rest back , unless of course you charge stuff to the room like from the restaurant or tiki bar. The hotel itself is very clean and well kept. We just didn't care for our room. No clock, alarm clock, mini fridge stuck out so far from the mini kitchen sink that it actually got in the way , housekeeping doesn't come unless you request and won't come in the room if you're in the room. We never got clean sheets, never got a vacuum of the room, and had to request daily for extra towels, coffee, cups, sweetener, blanket's, trash bags or trash to be emptied. A big plus at this hotel that you won't find at many others, is they allow pets. My husband would have had to stay behind at home if we couldn't have brought our German Sheprador. Now you do have to stay with the dog at all times, can't be left alone in the room, can't go to the pool with you or the on site restaurant.. but ... they only charge A ONE TIME PET FEE OF $50. That's a big difference between the others that charge $100 a day deposit and $125 a day per fee. So yes they are extremely pet friendly at this hotel. Regardless of the room you get, there is no ocean view. Maybe during the day time if you're up on a higher floor that is closer to the street (front of the hotel) you can catch a glimpse of the ocean, but if you're looking for ocean front or actual ocean view, you'll not get it here. Go across the street to one of the many. This hotel is next door to a 7-11, literally within feet from the main lobby doors, so you can get convenience items and gas there. Oh, with the valet parking, no restrictions on guests for in/outs. Meaning you can come and go with your vehicle as you please. They are also close to the county line, so you're staying in Hollywood Beach/Hallandale Beach (Broward county), but just a few minute walk or quick quick drive, on Ocean drive, and youre in Miami Dade county. Super close to the beautiful Aventura mall and a Publix, Walmart , Walgreens. It's a congested area, but the guests get their own private area in the beach.

I would say the only good thing about this hotel is the location. But that is single handily the only positive. Walking into the clean, well kept lobby, you expect the rest of the hotel to be up to those standards. However do not be fooled. That hotel is the dirtiest, most disgusting “resort” I have had the displeasure of staying at. Immediately stepping off the elevator, you are greated with humid, stale air and absolutely revolting dirty carpet stains. The trash by the ice machine on our floor was overflowing the entire 3 days we were there, full of food and smelled awful. The entire walk to our room, the carpets were full of crumbs and had obviously not been vacuumed in weeks. Our bedding was so gross we didn’t sleep with the comforter. It had blood and what looked like snot stains on it with no duvet cover. Can you imagine how many times that was used without being cleaned? There was dirty, crusted tissues on our nightstand as we walked in as well. Our room was next to a guest traveling with a small dog that barked for hours on end. We called the front desk and the girl answering the phone could care less and told us she would “reach out” to the owners and address it - lie. The dog barked until we had had enough and left the room for the day. Returned to the room around 11pm, greeted by once again, a non stop barking dog. Called the front desk, and again was greeted with an attitude as if I shouldn’t be bothered by a dog while paying over $500 for 2 nights/3 days at a “4 star resort”. That issue was never resolved and we had to just accept it. The pool was just as gross as the rooms. It’s looks amazing from afar, but upon sitting, the chairs and towels were so old and worn and covered in bird poop, the pool had sludge/body oil with white bubbles floating throughout it, and cigarette buds. I immediately jumped out of the pool after seeing the green algae and mold on the tiles. The front desk girl should be fired immediately - she obviously hates her job and people anyways. Parking is a joke - $40+ tax a night for valet. The parking lot for valet was literally 3 steps from the entrance so there’s no reason we couldn’t park ourselves without risking someone causing damage to our vehicle. The parking is in direct sun, so not being able to park our own car meant we couldn’t even put up our sun shade to keep the vehicle cool. We are Hilton Honors Diamond members and that was never acknowledged, nor was this hotel anywhere near the quality we are used to. For a “resort” with resorts fees, there are no amenities. We will NEVER visit this resort again, and we plan to file a complaint to the general manager. STAY FAR AWAY unless you’re looking for a motel experience at resort pricing. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Last night we checked in around 9pm and were given a room key to an already vacant room. As we came off the elevator, a man and woman walked out of the room I was supposed to enter. I showed them my room number and used my key to open the door but didn’t go in. I closed the door then they used their key to open the door and it worked. We were all shocked and I returned downstairs to get another room. The woman behind the desk could care less. She said sorry and that the room was available in the system. Then proceeded to find a room when my husband then asked her if there was something she could do given this experience. She didn’t even offer ANYTHING to us. He had to ask her. She said she could move us to the 10th floor which is supposedly an upgrade since it’s the highest floor. That was all she did. I later found out she was a supervisor at that. I’m clearly furious and go back to the elevators where Sandra D was entering (yes, that’s her real name) and noticed I was upset and asked if I was ok. I then explained to her what happened and she was in disbelief. Because of her, my husband and I received breakfast, snacks, and our resort fee was waived. She did more for us than the supervisor. She also left a note and told us to speak to a manager John or Mery in the morning to ensure the resort fee was waived. When my husband went this morning to see about the resort fee, again we were met with a lack of care. Mery, a manager, could careless. She didn’t inquire about how the rest of our night went, how our morning or breakfast was, nothing. My husband’s education and profession is in the field of hospitality and he was in disbelief at her lack of care. Mery said that since it happened last night and we “can’t go back and change the human error” there was nothing she could do and ensured our resort fee would be refunded. At the very least, she could have checked in with us when her shift started this morning to ensure we were ok and let us know she saw the message left from last night.

I’m completely ok with our breakfast and resort fee ($30). We ordered coffee but it wasn’t covered but when we told the waitress about our experience she even ensured our coffee was free. It’s absurd that people with less rank in position cared more about our comfort during our stay. Sonya, thanks for the coffee!

If it wasn’t for Sandra and Sonya, this review would be way worse. Mery needs a new job and should not have a manager title. Neither should their night supervisor. Neither the manager or supervisor did anything and didn’t even try to small talk to make us feel better. They didn’t even ACT like they cared. Even if they couldn’t give us anything free, their emotionless response was unbelievable. Showing they cared, even if pretending, would’ve gone such a long way. I wish I knew the supervisor’s name bc she and Mery should NOT work in hospitality in a leadership capacity when they were clearly NOT hospitable. Sandra D, thank you! You offered when we didn’t have to ask you for anything. I am grateful for the care you and Sonya gave but there’s no way in hell I will be returning to this establishment. I am also a Hilton Honors member and that clearly means nothing as well.

Florida is a right to carry state. It was already dark outside when we checked in. As a woman, or as anyone really, this situation could have been extremely more dangerous than it was. Thank God they were walking out as I was walking in and they weren’t still in the room indisposed. Because it wasn’t worse, the fee, breakfast, and snacks were cool, but the lack of care from leadership is why I will not be returning. In the elevator two gentlemen heard me explaining to Sandra D what happened and they told me “good luck”, (twice) and did a sarcastic chuckle. I definitely...

Really disappointed with our stay here considering all of the wonderful reviews, specifically with John and Dee. My friend and I booked a room for two nights using Chase points (Chase was amazing during this experience) and we confirmed the reservation with Double Tree two weeks prior. We showed up to the hotel around 11:30 pm to check in and the lady at the friend desk (I believe named Dee) said our reservation was not in their system. We provided our confirmation receipt and she said there was nothing she could do and that we need to rebook. We called Chase and they spoke to Dee on the phone and confirmed the reservation details and provided all of the booking information to Dee. Throughout this conversation Dee was prioritizing other guests while on the phone with Chase, barely listening to Chase while fixating on the fact it wasn’t showing in their system. She said our options include going to another hotel or rebooking a room with them. She was so nonchalant about the entire thing and very condescending towards us, she made us feel like we were in the wrong and bothering her with something that was our problem and not hers. She truly did nothing to try to help us resolve the issue and said she didn’t understand why we are frustrated with the hotel when we should be frustrated with Chase. As someone who has worked in hospitality and customer service for 10+ years, the lack of sincere care and service was astonishing.

After about 3 hours of back and forth, calling Hilton reservations team (no response) and speaking to Chase customer service, Dee still denied us our room. It was 3 am at this time and we had already paid $48 for parking that Dee told us was nonrefundable, so we decided to book another room for $190 so we could go to bed and deal with it in the morning. I asked Dee if she could please write up a note stating what happened so we could talk with Chase again in the morning and have documentation that we were denied our room and she said she would write something up and slide it under the door. We never received this.

Here comes the best part!! The next morning, we called Chase again and they said they spoke to the hotel this morning and John (the Property Manager) had CONFIRMED our reservation was in the system the entire time. We were thrilled and thanked John and told him about what we went through the night before. He said it was a training issue on their end and refunded us our additional $190 we paid (he gave us a very insincere and lame apology tbh). We asked for a refund for our first night since we were denied the room and John said it’s up to the property and not something he would accommodate. He said it’s tough to refund the points since it is a “difficult process” and instead could waive the $65 resort fees and provide us a $50 credit for food. The nightly rate was $190 (13,000 points) so that didn’t even cover the cost for one night. He said “I feel like waiving the fees and providing a credit was a nice thing to do and I feel like you’re being hostile towards me. You don’t know what I go through in this job”. Such a lame thing for a Property Manager to say to their guests while we were simply expressing our frustration with a horrific experience at their hotel that was entirely their fault and expressing what we feel would be fair. Then, around 4 pm housekeeping came to our room and said we were supposed to check out… Totally shocked by this entire experience and the way they both handled things. Neither my friend or I have never gone through this before at another hotel. Just be careful if you book here because they might not be able to find your reservation!! Thanks Chase Travel though for your customer...
