Hate to leave a bad review but his place was so bad that we left before we got our food. The first problem was the awful service from the man tending bar, who was clearly having a bad day while he poured "fresh squeezed orange juice" from a 2 litre milk jug into plastic cups on the bar. Grumpy and dismissive, and had to be reminded twice to bring my wife her latte, which was a 1 button press on a Nespresso machine. The second trouble was another patron, an ancient real estate boomer that couldn't connect a teams call and and shouted into her laptop at the top of her voice. She was loud and rude enough, for long enough, that we asked to be moved to another section of the restaurant so we could avoid her nonsense. The staff did nothing to curtail her rude behaviour, and seemed challenged by our request to move two the other side of the room. Finally, we had to ask 3 times about the timing of our food. We waited 50 min to get our bacon and eggs, and when we asked about the delay, we were told that moving tables had confused the kitchen and they hadn't cooked our food. We informed the staff that our 4 year old was hungry and needed some fruit or bread to tide him over, and were told that "the kitchen knows, there is nothing we can do." When they failed to bring us food for the third time, we got up and left. I usually have lots of patience for staff under duress, but this was way too much. 2 out of 5 stars because I'm a decent human and can bring myself to type 0. Hope the management can take a look at their operations and staff the restaurant accordingly. If you are staying in the area, eat...
Read morePort South Bar & Grill offers a fairly average dining experience. Here's a quick overview of my visit:
The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, making it a comfortable spot for a laid-back meal. The decor is simple and functional, though it lacks a distinctive character. It's a good place to catch up with friends or watch a game.
The service was adequate but nothing to write home about. The staff was friendly enough, but the service was slow at times, with long waits for food and refills.
The menu features typical bar and grill fare. The burgers were decent, though not particularly memorable, and the fries were crispy and well-seasoned. The wings were a highlight, with a good variety of sauces. However, some dishes, like the fish and chips, were a bit underwhelming.
The drink selection is standard, with a range of beers on tap and basic cocktails. Nothing stood out, but they were reasonably priced.
Prices are fair for what you get. It's not expensive, but the quality of the food matches the price point, making it a reasonable choice for a casual meal.
Port South Bar & Grill is a decent place for a casual outing, but it doesn't stand out in any particular way. It's a solid choice if you're in the area and looking for a straightforward meal or a place to hang out...
Read moreWe chose the restaurant due to getting in later in the evening and we were staying at the hotel. The place was relaxing with only a few groups in there. They had a bar which provided quick service within the restaurant. Our waiter was prompt and courteous with great recommendations. They recently updated their menu so what we saw on the internet wasn’t exactly what we saw there, but nonetheless good; I uploaded a pic of the new menu. We started with their chowder which contained multiple proteins and tasted like minestrone, very good. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos, very delicious and cooked to perfection, would recommend. My wife had conch fritters and plain chicken wings. The fritters had a good flavor and were cooked well. Her wings were a different story. Half were over cooked and dry/falling off the bone and tough to eat. The other half were great, the lack of consistency is why I marked the stars down. We were able to charge the meal to our room and the gratuity was already added in so we did not need to worry about this. I...
