BEWARE. This place is a nasty dump. We rented two rooms for our immediate family for a wedding in town in August of 2024. Our room was old and dirty. We found gross stains on the bed sheets that looked like blood stains or some sort of unknown other secretion. When I complained to the cleaning lady Tammy (no manager on duty) she blamed it on another staff member and had the sheets changed. Our shower drain also didn’t work and backed up 3-4 inches while showering. There were numerous cob webs throughout the room, and the ceiling above the toilet was caving in. The door frame leading into the room was all busted in and had to be pushed extremely hard to get into the room. ||Our son and his girlfriend’s room smelled strong of cigarette smoke with bleach trying to cover it up. The floor was torn up, there was hair and dust all over the room and the shower was gross. I complained to the cleaning lady about this as well and her comment was that she is a smoker and the other cleaning lady vapes so they couldn’t smell it. ||The common areas outside the motel rooms (as well as the stairs going up to the second floor) were absolute filth and looked like they hadn’t been swept or vacuumed in years. ||When we were checking out I asked to speak to the manager and/or owner, but was told that neither of them was available. They charged $188 a night per room for this dump so I had asked for some of my money back. I was given the run around and told that the manager only worked two days a week so I would have to stop back or call when she was working. It took me 5 days to get ahold of the manager Jenn Matthews. I voiced my disgust to the manager and she claimed that she didn’t have the authority to reimburse me. She stated that she would call the owner (Leonard Schwartz) and get right back to me. Jenn told me that she had worked for Lenard for 13 years and she highly doubted that he would give me any money back. That was eleven days ago and still no word from anyone. ||There were prior review complaints of bed bugs at this place and a few people that we knew had stayed here during the same time frame as us had unknown bites on them. As a precaution we had to leave our bags and belongings on our back porch for 3 days when we got home and then wash everything in hot water. ||I talked to multiple business people around the village and was told that they house Social Services individuals at the Wayne Inn and that the police frequent the establishment for domestics as well as drug and...
Read moreMy fondest memories with my family are about our Summer travels to see our loved ones living hundreds of miles away. Sometimes it felt like we spent more time in motels and inns than we spent in our own home. Every Summer, for many years.||Now that my wife and I are up in years, and not in the best of health, we decided that time was running out for us to travel. So we set out on a road trip, like we used to do when we were younger.||Honesdale, Pennsylvania was hosting their Roots & Rhythm Music & Arts Festival, so we decided to attend. We packed up my wife’s wheelchair, walker, pills, and a few necessities, and hit the road.||If you’re not from a small town, you may fail to see the simple elegance of this gem of a town and the sincere kindness of its residents. We thoroughly enjoyed our many conversations.||We spent two nights at the Wayne Inn. Here is what you need to know; ||The Inn, from a distance, looks like a postcard. A welcoming abode, neatly nestled into the hillside. The closer you get, the more obvious it becomes, time has been less than kind to this iconic place. She is weathered, and wrinkled, conservative with her makeup, but appropriately attired to do the work of keeping you fed, warm, and safe.||The Wayne Inn does not have an elevator. If you have mobility issues you should ask for a room on the first floor when making your reservation. I am certain that the stewards of the Inn will do what they can to accommodate you. ||We found our room to be comfortable and clean. Not perfect, but acceptable in almost every way.||The only thing that made us sad was the price we were charged for our stay. At $169.50 per night, $369.52 for a two night stay, it is not very likely that we will stay here again. ||There is no doubt in my mind that we will return to Honesdale one day. There is too much love in and around this gem of a town, and too much to see before our eyes grow dim. We don’t know where we’ll stay, but it won’t be at the Wayne Inn, unless we strike it...
Read moreI am giving this Motel the lowest score possible and would never recommend it. The hotel is old and appears to have never been remodeled. The carpet was old, well worn and ripped. Mattresses were extremely soft and old. The first night we were there the bathtub faucet had a steady stream of water running that we could not turn off. When the manager came to look at it he couldn’t fix it and there were no other rooms. We had to deal with it for the night.|Next day the manager tried to fix it again. We were told that in order to fix it the water would have to be turned off for the entire hotel. He left late in the afternoon and we never heard from him again.|Next day we were able to change rooms only to have a problem with the shower again. The manager wasn’t around so the woman in the office reassigned us to another room in which the air-conditioning didn’t work. She told us to keep both room keys and shower in one room and sleep in the other.|Next day I got a message to return one room key because we couldn’t have 2 rooms. I went back to the office and demanded a room where everything worked. I was handed a key to the original room and was told that it was fine now. A woman that cleaned the rooms heard the conversation and said the bathroom still had a leak.|The next room and our last night there we had knats flying around in the room so we went and bought bug spray and left the next day.|I asked for the manager at check-out and stood there while the receptionist was on the phone with him and he refused to speak to me. |The woman in the office said that the manager told her to comp one nights room but she didn’t know how. Needless to say we never got the room comp’d and we never heard back from...
