We came year about 1 year ago & the chicken wings were spectacular! Hands down the BEST we ever had & they had sooo many variations of them. We are foodies and have traveled the world tasting different foods & the only place that came close to this restaurant’s level was an upscale bar in Singapore; they had amazing Korean style wings. We were amazed at the gem we had found in Honesdale - raved about it to our friends even! Fast forward to a month ago, we were so excited to come back for the wings, only to find out they had completely eliminated the wings from the menu. Their reasoning was that their fryer broke? If the reason was they didnt want to fry anymore, what about baking in the oven or getting an air fryer? I don’t understand how a bar like this could think getting rid of wings would be a good idea? We ordered some other things instead, but the menu, aside from the pizzas, didn’t really seem to go with the theme of a bar, like the chicken curry? I tried it. It was good for what it was, but def not the place that comes to mind if I want curry. There are other dishes in a similar vain that just don’t really make sense here, or are elaborately repeated throughout the menu without really adding value, like a bunch of dif variations of popcorn? Unfortunately, we have not come back & have no incentive to unless their menu expands/changes to something that is more reflective of the atmosphere. As far as their cooking, its good in general.. but for sure, taking out their amazing wings, was a huge mistake on the business side of things. I think there’s untapped potential at this restaurant… Regardless, im rooting for this place from afar!...
Read moreNot sure if this place is trying to appeal to the hipster crowd or if it’s trying to bring in its own “big city” type of style to Honesdale but I just couldn’t get into it. It’s modern with an old school style. The beer isn’t going to appeal to the masses. If you are into the sampling of different types of beers this will probably be up your alley. I mainly give it 2 starts because of the food. Very few times have I been this disappointed with bar food. I respect that they are utilizing local products where they can and that everything is made from scratch but it was so plain jane that if it were a movie I’d walk out or fall asleep. I had their fried chicken sandwich which turned out to be about half the size of a hockey puck with some leafy greens on the side. It was ok but that’s it, just ok. Is it worth 13 dollars? Absolutely not! The pretzels we got weren’t your run of the mill pretzels. They appeared to be twisted dough that was baked (maybe fried?). Not terrible, but the horseradish type dipping sauce is not meant to be paired with it. These to were pricey at 7 dollars. Our friend got a pizza which was the most plain tasting pizza I’ve ever tried. We ordered the pizza with the sauce and cheese only. It might as well have been cheese and sauce on cardboard. Almost zero taste. Once again, definitely not worth 13 dollars. My fiancé got the Mac & Cheese which also was plain. Not a lot of taste.
Sorry folks, I was just not very impressed. I was hoping for a better outcome but it is what it is. I hope you can keep the business going. Maybe just go for the beer? You can skip the food...
Read moreMy husband & I got the duck fat fries & beet salad. The nuts on the salad were rancid. The duck fat fries were overcooked & did not taste like anything. We paid for this garbage?!? For heavens sake taste your food before serving it to your guests. I ordered a martini & it came partly in a tiny glass with another small mason jar glass, weird, never saw anything like that before. I’d like my drink in one glass not two please & when I pay for a full sized martini don't give me a half size. Our "waitress" didn’t really check on us. A few other people stopped briefly to ask if we needed anything so I'm not sure how their waitressing system works. I asked for salt at least three times & was finally given pepper, no words. We were three at the table & a fourth came but they wouldn’t allow a seat to be pulled up & offered no alternative so our friend had to leave without eating. We will never go back to this restaurant. Where is the management?!? Get yourselves together, it's sink or swim out there especially for restaurants. Do yourselves a favor & check out Hotel Wayne, Laurel's Hometown Cafe, or New Asian Buffet. Plenty of other options, Wallenpaupack Brewing Company isn't...
