We stayed here at the end of January and only for one night. The pros: price, location, and very nice staff. The cons: the rooms are pretty outdated and they are very interesting. I have never experienced a hotel room like this one before where the wall is not a wall. It’s hard to explain so I’ve included pictures. The wall of the room with the door is basically just a big window screen with metal shutters you control from the inside. So if you open them you have no privacy. And even when they’re closed, because it’s not a real wall with insulation, you can hear everything outside your room. We were on the ground floor so we could hear everyone who passed by our room. It was really peculiar! I’ve never experienced anything like it before. It wasn’t the worse thing in the world but it was something else that’s for sure. Mind you, our friend booked this place for us so I had no idea what this place was going to be like before we arrived. Also, because that one side of the room was essentially open air, it was kind of hard for our AC unit to handle keeping our room cool. So we were sweating a little. Also, the room was booked for two adults but for some reason there were only three pillows on the bed and the pillows were not very fluffy. Even with two stacked on top of each other they did not provide much support. We could have asked for another pillow but didn’t so that’s on us. Again, we only stayed here the one night during our trip which was fine. However, I don’t think I would want to stay here more than a night or two at most. The price is pretty good for the location but the outdated and unique room configuration isn’t really worth the savings for me personally.

Perfectly adequate for budget-friendly sheltering purposes, but not much that stands out. Cheap, especially with a Kama'aina discount. Pet-friendly, which is always appreciated. Surprisingly good location close to the beach, especially at their price point. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were clean. Very good, fast, free WiFi in the room. There is no desk staff after 8pm so late check-ins must be specially arranged. The pool was unavailable during my stay in July 2020, I'm assuming due to the covid situation. The rooms do not have telephones. Outlets for charging seemed to be few in number and weirdly located. The rooms have only showers, no bathtubs, and the toiletries were the cheapest I've ever seen. The bathroom towels were small, thin, and rough. If accessibility is an issue, know that there aren't any elevators--and even the 2nd floor is a long way up on crutches. To be fair, the front desk staff did carry my bag up without being asked and accompanied me on my initial trip up those stairs to my room. My main issue with the Pagoda Waikiki was the parking. Parking was a monumental headache that ended up costing nearly as much as the room did for my one vehicle and wasn't even on-site. Although the desk staff was able to suggest area parking lots, they were all at least one to two blocks away and my situation on crutches made that problematic. This was a disappointment and will probably keep me from returning until I'm once again independently mobile.

Just finished a week's stay at the Pagoda Waikiki. I will disclose the good the bad and the ugly of this place. First let's discuss the bad. It's dated, old and in need of some love. The overall appearance is nice, it's borderline kitschy, but could use some upgrades. The parking is not ideal, and the front desk is not very helpful giving you nearby options. We tried to reserve two spots for the week we were there, yet was told all their spots were reserved, but I never saw all spots used every day for the duration we were there. We ended up parking across the street at the Hale Koa Hotel Parking lot. With no help from the front desk and doing our own research this was the best option if you're staying there a week or more. Parking here and buying a monthly pass for $220, it gives you unlimited access to parking lot or the garage for up to 30 days. It would have cost us the same amount to park at the Pagoda. The entrance is at 2141 Kalia Road, you need to go the the parking garage located at 2004 Kalia Road to buy a pass. Take your ID, Vehicle/Hotel Information and credit card to purchase. Some garages/lots are $60-$80 a night nearby, so be careful were you park. Let's talk rooms, we were a party of 8 individuals, we had 4 rooms in the Saratoga Building on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The AC in our rooms worked, but not well. When discussed with the front desk, was told there wasn't much they could do. It wasn't horrible, they're just old units and are not running as efficient as they used to be. The rooms were simple, but dated as well. There's a reason this is still a 2 star hotel. We checked for bedbugs/insects/overall cleanliness and were very pleased to not find, or see any during our stay. Beds were comfortable, and linens were clean. The bathroom was a bit scary, but considering the age, it was ok. Towel racks and shelfs could use a handyman's touch. We didn't use the kitchen, but it did have enough supplies to cook with if you so desired. Did not have enough glassware is my complaint about the kitchen. Drank my soda in a coffee mug. We didn't swim in the pool, but it was enjoyed by other guests while we were there. The courtyard is ok, we sat out there some nights enjoying shaved ice or cool beverages. Now let's talk about the good. Location, location, location. You can't beat the location. Easy walks to the beach, shopping and restaurants. That was one thing we loved about this Hotel. Even though we had a car, we walked to a lot of places to eat and shop. ABC store right across the street and yummy restaurants 5 min walk or less nearby. The BEST shaved ice in the city is across the street at Lahaina Shave ice, spent too much money there for the week, and will be burning off those calories even after I get back to the mainland. Overall this is a nice place to stay, would I stay there again? Probably not, unless they made some nicer upgrades, had better amenities. I'm giving it 2 stars, it definitely wasn't the worst hotel I've stayed at, but it definitely earned it's rating as a 2. Basically the old adage is true, you get what...

Warning: Think Twice Before Booking at this Hotel

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share a rather unpleasant experience my family and I had at the Waikiki Heritage Hotel. My goal isn't to bash anyone, but to raise awareness so that you don't find yourselves in a similar predicament. I'm also curious if anyone else has had similar experiences with this establishment or others in the area.

The Start of the Saga We booked a 9-night stay at Waikiki Heritage Hotel via Expedia. Given that the hotel is situated close to the popular Waikiki Beach, we were quite excited about our trip. However, our excitement was short-lived.

Not As Advertised When we checked in, the room was nothing like what was shown in the photos. It was dark and located on the ground floor. On top of that, it was infested with bugs and smelled musty. We didn't take any immediate action, choosing to endure it for a day. However, on the second day, we decided enough was enough and started the process to check out early. After a game of back-and-forth between the hotel's support desk and Expedia, we managed to leave after 3 nights.

Customer Service & Amenities To make matters worse, the hotel staff was far from welcoming. They seemed disinterested in assisting us with our concerns. We were also told that the hotel had no parking, which was not only inconvenient but also costly as we had to find alternative options far from the hotel.

The Incident That Broke The Camel’s Back On our third night, we returned from the beach stressed because our infant had vomited. In our haste and concern, we accidentally left our room keys in the door. Come morning, we realized they were gone. When we approached the front desk about it, not only were they unsupportive, but they also slapped us with a $150 charge for the lost keys. And yes, I did unknowingly sign the agreement for this charge, but a little compassion would have gone a long way.

Misleading Information on Expedia Just to add a cherry on top of this ordeal, the Expedia listing stated that parking was available at the hotel. This information is outright incorrect. On the first day, I ended up paying $16 for just 3 hours of parking at a postal office. Eventually, the hotel rented me a parking spot for $40 a day, which was located far from the hotel.

I share this experience to raise awareness about the Waikiki Heritage Hotel, so others can make an informed decision before booking a stay there. The lack of amenities, misleading information, and poor customer service left us feeling ripped off and stressed during what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with this hotel or any other places in the Waikiki area? I'd love to hear your stories. Let's help each other make better choices when it comes to booking accommodations.

Safe...

We went on royal hawaiian website to get hotel at royal hawaiian but some how they sent us there because there was mishaps with their website I think they are in same company but we had high expectations. Once we arrived they said we need to pay $150 deposit which they did not mention on our phone conversation also $25 fee. For us it was what ever because we live on island but I can’t imagine for other people that is there for vacation from other state when front office tell you right there it’s additional $150 but we were still flabbergasted because they should’ve mentioned about $150 deposit as we were reserving the room. They didn’t explain well where our room was in front desk So we were lost for about 10 min. As we got in the room microwave wasn’t working which it was huge negative because I needed to warm up my baby’s milk. So I had to use the stove which was pretty inconvenient. There was stain on walls each towels were extra charge. I had to buy my own dish soap next door because dishes were still dirty I had to wash dishes before I used it. I was pretty shocked they only gave us one key. It was me, my friend and the baby. I felt really uncomfortable sleeping with my baby with unlocked door so my friend won’t be locked out when she came back from night out. Next day when we checked out I asked if I would get my deposit back front desk said I will get it that day. So I checked with my bank that day to see if I got my $150 back… shocker didn’t got it back so I called the front desk … no answer for 2 days. I called hours from 7am to 10pm left multiple messages. Finally 3 days later I asked again for my deposit they said since I booked the hotel in Thursday since it the weekend by the time I reached out it will take 2 - 5 business days to get my deposit back. So front desk wasn’t being clear / not being honest once again since front desk told me I would get my deposit THAT DAY. they always didn’t mention I had to pay $40 for parking. I wish they told certain things so we could’ve been prepare about it instead of being confused the day of. We just wanted to have nice get away but it kinda got ruined. If they made clear about all the things prior we would’ve had any problem and we would’ve prepared. Just felt like they weren’t being clear about a lot of things. Only good think about that hotel is it’s right across from...
