Overall I have had a great experience - the staff that have made my stay the easiest are those that tend to go overlooked - night staff and van driver. Jeanne, Glenna and Kenya have been fantastic!! They are friendly, accommodating and responsive. They provide the type of service that is both professional and help business travelers that stay for long periods feel at home and taken care of at Marriott. Initially I had issues with the manager Adam - I needed to do laundry, did not have cash and asked for the cost of a wash and dry be put on my room charge so I could expense the cost also because there is no ATM in the hotel. They do not have the capability to add miscellaneous cost the bill as I have had done at other Marriott hotels. I was annoyed because the person working the desk did not have a suggestion or solution - Adam came out suggested the van driver take me for cash and he could provide quarters. After my return, got quarters, Adam came over and had a discussion with me and apologized for the inconvenience with getting change to do laundry, gave me some points and a great rate for my team and I for the remainder of our stay. Initially communication was challenged but Adam corrected which made me select my this location that my team would use for the stay we were in Hot Springs. The hotel is new and that is a plus for me - modern and well done decorating. On a final note - with this being a new facility the smoke detectors are extremely sensitive- I took a long hot shower and it set off the fire alarm. I have never had anything like that happen, but I received a phone call asking if I were okay, and the front desk sent up maintenance come and air out the room - they fanned the smoke detector and had me hold the door - I thought it was crazy there was no way to stop the noise without having to air out the room. Overall, with the wonderful night staff, the self correcting manager and new hotel I would be comfortable staying at the Marriott Hot...
Read moreWe checked in the afternoon of Tuesday, June 13th. My husband and I were both there for a work conference. After dinner out, we went back to the hotel. We watched TV in bed for about an hour or two when I decided to go to sleep. When I adjusted my pillows for bed, I discovered crumbs underneath them! Imagine my horror in finding out the sheets we had just been in had been dirty. We do not eat in bed...ever. The crumbs were large and there were lots of them. The way the pillows were situated, you could not tell they were there until the pillows had been moved. We immediately jumped out of bed. My husband got dressed and when downstairs to talk to the front desk. I got dressed and packed up all of our things that we had unpacked. The front desk sent up house cleaning and they changed the sheets. I could not sleep at all the night I was so disgusted and freaked out about being in someone else's dirty sheets. My husband talked to several of the people at the front desk and they all said that the person he could talk to was not there, but would be on Thursday. His name was Ed and was the Director of Operations (I believe). We were treated like we had made up the whole story. We were told that the room had passed inspection and was only offered 1/2 a night's stay or 5,000 points. Ask anyone what the worst thing that could happen while staying at a hotel---they will say dirty sheets. Not only did this happen to us, but we were treated like liars when bringing this up, and offered an insulting refund amount. My husband and I got married at a Marriott. We both stay at Marriott's for work and we travel a lot. I have never in my life been so upset with the way this was handled and how we were treated. I expect more from a Marriott. Now we are deciding if we want to go with another hotel group for all of our travel. This was very disappointing to...
Read moreThis is a very Beautiful Hotel, just turned a year old. The décor is in hues of grays and a modern feel. The rooms are spacious and laid out with great use of space. The beds are comfy, the tv has a swivel mount so you can watch from the bed or the stylish sofa. The mini fridge is hidden in a nice cabinet. The amenities are Paul Mitchell and smell great. The towels are fluffy. The staff is very friendly. There was only a couple of downsides that I saw and others mentioned on our trip. Your key card is needed to enter the indoor pool and workout area, which is nice because only guest can get in. Both are very clean and very nice BUT the indoor pool is blocked from the sun and the water is VERY COLD. My 5 yr old teeth were chattering, we and others had to get out. Its like getting into ice water. You can't stay in very long. I was told is was controlled by corporate and left on a certain temp. I made the suggestion of increasing it to be a little water where you could tolerate it since the sun can't get to it to warm it up a bit. And there is no Hot Tub. The other thing was you have to pay for coffee. They should have a carafe of regular/decaf set up for guest and even offer a Grab And Go breakfast. Instead it is called The Bistro and you have to pay for Starbucks coffee and your other food items. There is a Starbucks around the corner that offers a full menu. Other than that it is a very nice hotel, close to everything. Downtown is only minutes away. Magic Springs isn't far at all. Garvan Woodlands Garden is beautiful. They are also located to a great putt putt place called the Pirate's Cove. I recommend the Blue Monkey and Fisherman's Wharf all are right down the road...
