We stayed in a studio and found this to be the most cramped, small studio we have ever had at a Towneplace. The studio was smaller by several feet in each dimension. Furniture was just packed into the place with no floor space or room whatsoever. There is no place to even set your suitcase, no luggage rack at all. Our normal checked bag did not even fit on the closet floor. In order to place the bag on the closet floor we first had to remove the ironing board. There was no place to put the ironing board so we had to lean it up near the entrance door. Then in order to get the suitcase into the closet and onto the floor we had to remove the bottom wire shelf. Only then could we place the bag on the floor, not very convenient at all. No where in the room to even place out carry-on bag so that luckily fit once again on the floor in the closet next to the other bag. As 2 people we also had a second checked bag and once again no where to put that in the room. We had to place that bag onto the floor in front of the HVAC unit and partially in front of the sofa. We have never had such a problem at a Towneplace in the past. Maybe this is a newer, cheaper, much smaller design but totally unsuited for 2 people nor for anyone not staying a long time where you can unpack everything and use the shelving they provide. But even then, there is no where to store your empty suitcases! Marriott really screwed up on this one! But I have been seeing lately as Marriott has become so huge and the memory of Bill Marriott fades the company is slowing, maybe more rapidly now, sliding downhill. Details are not attended to, poorly designed and poorly managed properties are more and more common and the Marriott brand is getting more and more tarnished as it is diluted by badging more and more properties "by Marriott" in an attempt to live off the Bill Marriott legacy without leading and managing as he did, see his book "The Spirit to Serve". Besides the fiasco of the bags we noticed that the sofa bed had no room to comfortably be used since it was so close to the bed. In addition. the foot rest that went with the sofa had no place to be stored when using the bed, nor did the sofa cushions. What a crazy design! And this from Marriott? Good thing only 2 of us and no need to use the sofa bed. We booked a studio since that was the only room type with a king bed since both the 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom units had only queen beds. Seriously? I even believe the pictures and description of the studio on Marriotts website for this property and not even from this property and as such don't reflect what you actually get. Instead they are stock photos and descriptions, perhaps of an older design for Towneplace. I found the general manager of this property to be unhelpful and uncaring. My recommendation is to avoid this property and to take extreme caution with the entire...
Read moreMy family and I went to Marriott Towneplace suites for our weekend vacation in hot springs. I personally love the Marriott hotels and have had a great experience everytime I have gone to one of their hotels. This one specifically was very nice. We got the one bedroom suite which had a mini kitchen when you walked through the door a small living room area with a pullout couch. The bedroom was its own room. There were four of us staying and I ended up sleeping on a blow up mattress (of our own) so I can't say if the beds were comfy but I'm sure they were. I know my parents slept really well since I could hear their snoring! I have to admit that I really did not like the wooden/tile floors. It was pretty cold in the morning and my feet were very dirty after walking around the room barefoot. The door to our bathroom was very hard to push open as well but that could be due to the fact that the hotel is on a hill which may have caused the building to shift but that is only my theory. The hotel has a beautiful view of the sunrise and the lake especially if you're on the backside. The hotel is very new and very nice and the hotel staff are very welcoming and friendly. There is a nice pool outback and a comfortable patio in the front. The breakfast buffet was very scrumptious. We ended up being on the first level which was very nice considering we didn't need to go up and down the elevator to go to the pool, gym or just to get out. I really liked being on the first level but the room above us would do something that caused a lot of noise to come from the roof of our room in the night and the morning. We made up a nice little story that there was a body builder dad who had naughty kids who he would discipline with exercise it was hilarious...but still annoying. When my friend and I went to the pool (at the very time it opened) we were alone for a good time but then little boys came and pretty much ruined our peaceful and happy time in the pool. They also got our electronics wet by throwing a football around and would splash us everytime they DIVED into the pool which isn't allowed. We ended up leaving. We understand that the previous two incidents were not the hotel's fault and they couldn't have stopped or prevented it, since we did not tell them. We had a wonderful experience with the hotel though and would very much like to...
Read moreThis hotel proved to be a great find! The property was smaller than I expected but loaded with benefits.
The front desk staff were friendly, helpful & took care of anything we brought to their attention. The property was clean, welcoming, well landscaped and enjoyable. The location up on a hill gave us a view of the surrounding forested mountains, instead of just Hot Springs traffic & structures.
The room had multi-purpose functions and was brilliantly designed and furnished to optimize the use of space, even though it wasn't a huge room. The full kitchenette was a surprise...not just a mini-fridge and microwave. The full size frig, small stove top, oven & dishwasher was a bonus. The kitchen was furnished with dishes, cookware, linens, cleaners...everything one needs for a convenient stay. Didn't even have to buy dish soap or paper towels.
The work station was well done, with great lighting, versatile furnishings, a pull out work station in addition to the counter, and a comfortable desk chair. It worked perfectly as the remote office needed.
The sofa sleeper was also multi-purpose. There was a neck pillow on the end of one arm of the sofa to use while reclining to watch TV. The tray table that was on the ottoman worked well as a table top to use for meals, work space or games. The versatile rolling ottoman made it easier to stretch out for comfy TV viewing or to extend the bed space.
The bathroom had a unique design with only half a shower door, but it worked fine. There was no shortage of hot water even during what may be considered prime times. Toiletries were conveniently mounted to the shower wall. While I questioned the sanitation of bottles being used by multiple guests, I can appreciate the environmental conservation benefits of eliminating a dozen little plastic bottles for each guest going into our landfills.
TownePlace Suites knocked it out of the park on these rooms. I've not been so impressed with purposeful use of limited floor space in any type of lodging in many years.
Three adults and two small fur-babies were comfortable in this space. The price was reasonable and this WILL BE our go to place to stay when in...
