We had a queen adjustable and decided we needed a king adjustable. We had gotten our queen from a Mattress Firm in the Dallas area so we went to Mattress Firm in Hot Springs since we live here now.
Office staff was fun and engaging. My husband is supposed to sleep with his legs elevated per his dr’s advice and I have heart & lung issues so I sleep reclined, legs flat, but semi sitting up. With that Mattress Firm suggested, and we agreed, split adjustable would be good to try.
Delivery team brought split queen bases. We told them it didn’t look right, etc but they insisted nothing was wrong. They put the bases together in the middle which left the mattress overhanging several inches. I had to get up in the night. I turned and sat on the edge like always to get my bearings… next thing I knew I was on the floor and the mattress was on top of me.
The next day I pull the bases out so that the outside edge is even with the mattress. We can now get up at night, but my husband almost fell through the middle since there was no support in the middle of the bed.
We call Mattress Firm and sad to say we were given quite a run around. You’ve signed the contract, too bad so sad. Thankfully I had my husband take pictures and show them… oh wow, that doesn’t look right. Now they find the wrong bases were sent. The store says the delivery crew pulled the wrong bases, and the crew says the store ordered the wrong bases. No one would take responsibility. But we now have the right bases so the mattresses fit.
We hate it. The mattress is fine, but the split king bed sucks. You have to have twin sheets, (it’s basically 2 twin beds pushed together) and I have to pull them apart daily to make the bed.
Mattress Firm offers a guarantee… can’t remember now if it’s a 30 or 60 day satisfaction guarantee… it says no questions asked etc. but it’s misleading… it says bed…BED… but the guarantee is only in the mattress. Not the bed. We’re stuck with 2 twin beds until we can afford to buy another bed. You can bet our next one won’t be with Mattress Firm.
And yes, the Hot Springs store manager is very familiar with the situation, and has talked with us several times, but in the end…he says “you signed the contract. You should’ve read the small print”. I regret laughing and having a fun enjoyable conversation the day we bought our bed because apparently I should’ve been in serious mode reading every word of the contract. "Sleep Expert" Craige Barlow was too interested in making a sale instead of making sure the investment I was making would be something I would be happy with. Believe me, it was expensive. Never explained or took into consideration how HIGH my new mattress & box springs would be off of the floor. Never asked or mentioned "bunkie board" instead of box springs. Requested from Mr. Barlow to exchange box springs for bunkie board after 1 day of new set up. It is a safety issue for me!! He was rude to me on this call and told me "I should have done my homework before buying the mattress." called him back 3 days later and this is what I was told, "the only way that would happen I would have to drive apprx 3 hours one way to store in N.Little Rock to make the exchange." On the initial pick up of my new purple mattress & box springs, Frederick didn't have a clue how to safely secure the items in back of my truck with "my ratchet straps". He would not listen to me, made the comment "they don't let women help load items." WOW!! Box springs almost blew out of the truck before able to safely pull over and redo his mess. Reassured by both Craige & Frederick they would secure my load when I came to pick it up. They only deliver in Hot Springs area. Very unhappy with the service I received there!
