Remember, all my reviews should be read in the context of what they are for. Here, I needed a convenient, safe, clean business hotel for a quick stay before hitting the road for a very long 16+ hour day so I'm rating this in comparison to business hotels, not luxury resorts. This means I want as little hassle as possible getting into the room, a room that is clean and comfortable immediately or can be (by having the thermostat actually work which is 50/50.

It's also racks up points when the room doesn't feel too cramped and when it has the business needs like an ironing board and iron handy. Clean bathrooms are a must as well.

There are light snacks and cold drinks for purchase at front desk area. Not any real good options in the immediate area outside the hotel but it has a small bar and dining area that was closed when I arrived very late.

This place delivers with unexpectedly large rooms. My check in process was under 5 minutes, albeit I came in very late. The hallways and elevators were typical, nothing special but clean and working as they should. The room was like studio apartment size, would cost a fortune in New York. This place is a 5 minute cab ride from the baggage claim so that's also nice. Upon entering the room, the temperature was cold for my liking but to my surprise, the thermostat had it warmed up in a few minutes.

There are two bathroom areas, one with the toilet and a handwashing sink, the other has a large sink area and the shower, which was a nice separation feature I haven't seen elsewhere. The room itself has a partially partitioned seating area with useful size desk (many place have inconveniently small work spaces). Central tv and additional seating at side of bed. Considering this place cost 20% of the cost of the hotel I stayed in last night at about $180 and was just as functional, it's a bargain.

No street noise on the 2nd floor and otherwise quiet. There may be the occasional jet taking off but for me that's not a big deal since I expect some of that at an airport location and I use ear plugs anyways.

All around can't beat the value for the spend and this would be a generous room at twice the price.

The desk clerk was pleasant and quick to process everything.

Bed is softer side of things, four pillows of various firmness with extras in the closet.

For a business trip, couldn't do much better other than luxury properties that are also resorts, which isn't a fair comparison so for a business hotel, this is as good as it gets...

Springhill Suites is always our go-to US hotels, and especially so with the Kalispell, Montana hotel, where the hotel staff are AMAZING, and even more amazing, is Kyle (General Manager) as he treats us like family.

So, I thought we'd be treated well at the IAH Springhill Suites too, but alas, they could care less about customers/guests.

We stayed there overnight before our flight back to Canada at 7:45am the next morning.

The evening before, I went to reception asking what time the airport shuttles were, and was told they start at 5am every half hour. I told the person on duty we had to be at the airport BEFORE 6am as our flight was leaving at 7:45am, and told him we'd want to use the 5:30am shuttle, he said to be downstairs in the lobby by 5:25am. We arrived in the lobby at 5:21am and was told, sorry, shuttle is full and to come back for the 6am shuttle.

I told them that would make us LATE, and we were never told it was "1st come 1st served" - we were just told to be in the lobby 5mins before departure.

I was told they could call a taxi for us, but for OUR cost. I asked if the shuttle on the way back, could take us to the terminal, and was told in no uncertain way, the shuttle would NOT leave before 6am.

It cost us $30 for a taxi to the airport, as we were 5 people with 5 large suitcases.

I emailed Marriott Customer Service about it, and got a prompt reply telling me they had contacted the Springhill Suites hotel, and that the hotel would respond to me in 1-3 days. It's been 2 weeks now, and NOTHING!!! Not a peep. I have since emailed Marriott Customer Service twice again, with NO reply from them ever again.

Springhill Suites IAH will never ever see us again. And we've decided to never again use ANY Marriott hotel, except for the Kalispell Springhill Suites, which we'd book directly with the hotel. We have stayed in Marriott hotels for literally hundreds of nights in the past 30 years - but we're DONE!!! You could care less about your...

SPRINGHILL SUITES REVIEW The hotel is nice. The rooms are clean, modern and comfortable, but the staff is completely incompetent. On the morning I checked out, I took the shuttle to the airport. I accidentally left them in the shuttle. Immediately upon entering the airport I realized my mistake. I called the hotel to inquire if they had found them and was told the indeed had my glasses and case. I was instructed to get a FedEx shipping label and email it to a specific person. After four weeks she had not shipped my glasses despite the fact I was told FedEx makes a daily pick up at this location. I called and spoke to a different individual. She apologized for their error. Confirmed that they still had my glasses and case and she described them to me. She asked that I again email my shipping label to her and the manager. She said they would try to ship them that day, but since it was already late in the afternoon it may not be possible. She assured me that between herself and the manager they would make sure they were shipped the next business day. Two weeks later and they still hadn’t shipped my glasses and case. I called and spoke with the manager. He agreed to look into the situation and call me back within the hour. After two hours and no response, I called him again only to be told they had lost my glasses. When I questioned why he didn’t follow up with his employee two weeks ago to confirm that she had taken care of this matter, he explained to me it wasn’t his responsibility to make sure his employees were doing their job. Shortly after this conversation he sent me an email stating that they will file a claim with insurance and that I should be contacted soon to resolve this issue. At this time, it’s been more than a week and I have yet to be contacted by anyone about the insurance claim. Based on my experience to date, I have no confidence this will ever happen. The staff is completely...
