I pick hotels based on location, price, and breakfast. It’s a bonus if they have a pool, since we have kids. This hotel is in a terrible location. The entrance is shared with a Denny’s, which has a parking lot full of giant pot holes, that would bottom out a small car. There is also another restaurant next door, and if it’s open, the line of cars trying to park there, block the only entrance to the hotel. Also- if you’re a light sleeper, this isn’t your hotel. One side faces the interstate, the other faces a busy railway. 3-4 trains pass per day, including at least one at night. There’s no whistle, but a very loud rumble from the train. Other than the 2 previously mentioned restaurants, there is nothing else noteworthy nearby. Breakfast is your standard: cereal, waffles, eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, pastries. If you show up at 9am or later, you get what’s left over. They do not refill the fruit, or the pastries. They’ll give you a cup of the waffle mix if they see you want one. Kind of frustrating when you’re trying to juggle your breakfast, and your kids. The pool is indoor- but for our 4 night stay, it was closed for “maintenance” for 2 nights- which was a bummer.( I’d like to mention here, that we were there over the weekend of Mardi Gras break for Louisiana. Not the best time to do maintenance on your pool, when a lot of folks from Louisiana are travelling to your area.)We like to tire the kids out in the pool before bed. Once it did open, they had chlorinated the heck out of it. My kids walked into the room in a chlorine cloud. My son ended up getting a rash from it. Our room was decent. Clean. The bathroom door handle was broken, the tub wouldn’t hold water, and the shower curtain is so short, you’re guaranteed to have a puddle on the floor. I also had to go down at check in, and ask for more towels. For a family of 4, they had provided us with 1 bath towel, 1 wash cloth, and one hand towel. On our last day- the elevator broke. The dual elevators never worked the entire time we were there- only one side would work. On the last day, the second side broke for half the day. Considering we were on the 5th floor, and my husband is in an ankle splint, this wasn’t ideal. I mentioned the pool and the elevator at check out, and the desk clerk did give me reward points and an apology for the elevator. For as much as I paid for 4 nights, it wasn’t much of a consolation. We did not look for another hotel. With it being Mardi Gras weekend, most were booked, unless we looked at a luxury hotel, which usually aren’t family friendly. We decided to stay, and just deal with it. In closing, if you’re a business traveler, who is not a light sleeper, this would be ok for you. If you’re a family, staying in the area for a few days- I would choose a...

I was extremely displeased with my stay at this hotel. Anytime I go to Houston, I stay at the Hampton Inn - Stafford and never had a problem so I decided to stay at this one for the weekend since it was closer to downtown. Check in was great as always and shortly after, we left and didn’t arrive back til late that night. Once we got back, we noticed that are sheets were stained and tried to get fresh sheets. When trying to calls the front desk, both room phones were not connected and I had to manually fix the phone. When I called, the manager Tim answered and was extremely rude. He gave me multiple excuses about why he would not bring us sheets and then hung up the phone in my face. I went down to the front desk and when I asked again for some new sheets, he argued me down and questioned me. He asked, “why are your sheets dirty? If you’ve checked in already, why didn’t you say anything earlier?” and on and on. I said, sir we just want fresh sheets to sleep on. I wasn’t trying to get a maid or have him personally change the sheets, we just wanted fresh sheets. He then proceeded to threaten to call the police and have us removed from the hotel. As we waited for the police, we tried to find a new hotel to stay in but it was so late, we weren’t able to leave. The police never came that night and me and my sister had to sleep on top of the comforter and lay something over the pillow. The next morning, we checked out and I asked to have corporate’s information. The desk attendant brought out the assistant manager, Johana, to speak with me. I explained to her what happened, and she apparently knew about the incident and tried to twist it on us as if we deserved that type of treatment. Johana said that we both were attacking Tim. I told her that if we were actually being rude and needed to be escorted out, then the police would’ve actually showed up. I also told her to review the cameras and she’ll see I cane down by myself and Tim was being the agitator of the situation. Johana then apologized insincerely and said the GM would reach out to me. I have never been treated so badly by a hotel and the fact that we could not get fresh sheets show the cleanliness of the hotel. If you are able to, avoid this hotel and stay at the Stafford location. Their customer service is way better and hotel is...

I stayed at this property over the New Year holiday for three days. The property is clean and fairly new, close proximity to most hot spots in the city. If you are adverse to what you would deem a "seedy" neighborhood, I would say you will be turned off by having to drive through an aged Denny's parking lot to access the hotel. I grew up in an urban area so I did not feel uncomfortable. The neighborhood is safe. I was impressed most by the staff at check in. I arrived quite early and was offered early check in. No issues with housekeeping. We were not given hand towels on one of the days but no big deal. The showers were not as hot as I would prefer but I also like hotter than average water. The breakfast is consistent with what you see at other Hampton Inns. I did, however, notice there was no bacon and limited 'grab and go' fruit. Again, that's a personal preference. My one major complaint was my check out experience. Based on the reviews, I do not think my experience was the norm. I booked online via the Hilton website and signed up for the Long Weekender deal. Upon checkout, 1) I had to call the front desk to get assistance after waiting in the lobby for 5-7 minutes and 2) I had to return to the hotel desk after getting my emailed receipt because the discounted price was not applied. It took the agent approx. 30 minutes to get this resolved, including two phone calls to whom I assume was a manager. It caused a hold on the originally charged credit card for 3-5 business days for the hotel's mistake and having the charge the correct amount to another credit card because after several transactions, the original credit card was marked as potential fraud by the bank. Overall, the stay was consistent with what I paid, an average experience for a convenient price. I am not sure if I would stay again since the check out experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I hope the management team reads these reviews and takes actionable steps to adequately train staff on how to handle...

This was my first time at Hampton and my experience was horrific is a understatement. When I first walked into hotel the automatic sliding door was closed we had to wait for someone to walk in to get in to check in. We checked in and gentlemen at the counter was fairly nice. Everything that comes next is straight out of a horror movie. As we went up to our room we had to take the elevator of course just like any other hotel. While getting on elevator going up to our room our elevator was broken. We could not get out nor would the elevator door would open. We waited 5 minutes and it felt like eternity especially when there was no way to get out. We had to call for emergency call. While on the call another 3 minutes has passed and the elevator door finally opened. This was the first time I’ve ever experienced anything like this and I was just thinking well it can’t get any worse than this. As we headed into our room we noticed off the back that we got a handicap room. We did not request for a handicap room. I have no idea how we ended up getting one. Upon looking around in the room I find a baby bottle under the bed, a pink sock on the top of the bed and sheets dirty still and stained and towels that are extremely dirty still. I’ve never experienced anything so horrific in my life. There was also no shampoo or conditioner in the room!! I will attach photos below of everything. Overall this was so eerie and disgusting. I will absolutely never in my life stay at a Hampton in hotel again. Like I stated at the beginning this hotel is beyond horrific it was horrid!!

I have never had this bad of an experience with a hotel. We called earlier and asked about early check in. They told us it was a $50 fee for early check in which is fine so we waited. We got there closer to one and asked to use the pool while we waited. The front desk person was so rude but let us. When it was 2:35 we went back to the front desk because our son was screaming because he was so tired and she still wanted to charge us $50 dollars to check in 20 minutes early which is completely absurd. I understand if you’re sold out but she said they had PLENTY of rooms available. Completely absurd. Rude and inconsiderate. No customer service whatsoever. After we get to our room. I went to take a shower late at night and there were ants in the shower. At that point I was so tired I just went to sleep and we had to leave early the next day. Never again. Maybe train your people not to be so rude. I get it is policy or whatever but being rude is not necessary.
