Terrible. We live nearby and have for years. Us parents wanted to go to House of Pies for a late night breakfast, but our girls talked us into taking them to IHOP, where we unfortunately received subpar service.
The waitress forgot to bring the waters my husband and I requested with our coffees and napkins (which I needed because the coffee carafe leaked coffee on the table when I poured a cup). She didn't bring a sauce that came with the meal as per the menu, didn't bring the eggs that came with one menu item ordered, and brought pancakes instead of hash browns for one persons order. We had no special requests other than adding avocado to an omelette (also not brought), so it's not as though we were asking for anything excessive or out of the ordinary.
When she brought our order, (sans aforementioned items), I asked for the sauce, the avocado, and more coffee (because the carafe only had enough for 3 cups and there were 2 adults drinking coffee). She brought only the avocado, so I asked again for the sauce and coffee and her response is where we got upset. Up to this point we had been patient, kind, and understanding, extending grace as the waitress said she was servicing 40 people on one end of the restaurant and 50 on the other and we were in the middle. Her response was to express her frustration towards me with her body language and facial expressions as she explained that another party had been "waiting a long time" and she needed to take care of them first. Wait, what??? Have we not been patiently waiting as well?? That's when I got up and found another waitress to get us a manager.
I brought the manager to our table and my husband and I explained the situation to him. He got another very attentive waitress serve us and offered some compensation. He said he would comp our children's meals and give us 50% off of mine and my husband's meal and asked if we thought that was fair. We agreed it was and moved on. The new waitress made sure we had everything we wanted and at this point our youngest child was full of her waffle so we just didn't worry about getting her egg (too late at this point).
This brings us to our next issue, which was likely just an oversight, but paired with our experience thus far it certainly left a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended). For clarity, here are some pertinent facts:
Child 1: ordered kid's meal which was already free with purchase of an adult entrée during the time frame we were dining.
Child 2: ordered an adult entrée, which we expected to be comped per the manager. I mean, really, as compensation we were offered something that was already free (child 1's meal).
When we received our bill we received child 1's meal for free (which was a given anyway) and 50% off of child 2's meal. My husband paid the bill and didn't notice until we had already left so we didn't bother with asking them to correct it. Today I called to just let the manager know what had happened. I didn't expect anything from it, but wanted to let them know. I called 3 times at 11:30am (thinking that would be a slow time on a Tuesday) and there was no answer, which is why I am leaving a review, something I save for exceptionally good experiences and occasionally exceptionally bad experiences.
Bad news: We will no longer be going to this IHOP. Good news: The kids say we can choose where we eat...

Read moreWent with a good friend of mine last night after work about 2:30 AM. Only two other tables were occupied when we walked in. A little old man was eating alone next to us and four other guys in a booth. The male waiter that was there was too busy trying to entertain the four guys. Then he in one of the female cooks we're hanging out at the computer where they process orders cussing really loudly where everyone could hear having a private conversation. The older gentleman that was sitting across from us was waiting for his food for quite a while. The server that we had stated that she was now so I was understanding that it took her a little bit longer to get things done however there was a manager in the back and the other waiter. There was no reason why things that should have taken so long and then she apologized said gentleman saying that so many orders are being processed however only three tables were sat in the whole restaurant with multiple servers there. The other two continued on with their private conversations and cussing each time they passed each other by. I asked to speak to the manager and he came up as we were finally in the middle of ordering our food so I asked him to come back in a moment. He never did. He was merely a few feet away from them and was oblivious to all of the cussing that they did where the rest of the people could hear. Very unprofessional and trashy. Yes most people do use cursewords but you don't use them in your place of business in front of guests. And private conversations should never come in between taking care of tables. Highly disappointed in...
