Me and my mother stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The room was super nice, and very clean. The room was decorated very nice, and the wall behind the bed had this huge artwork on it. It was really nice. It came with a Microwave and a mini fridge, which was art deco, and very cool looking. It had a really big, probably around 42" widescreen led TV (is my gest guess in the size), but something was wrong with the TV. It was kind of fuzzy, but not sure the best way to describe it. Was able to watch the TV just fine, but something was wrong with it. The location is a few miles down the road from the Galleria shipping mall, but the location around the hotel does not feel very safe. Ugly strip malls, and abandoned building near by. Homeless and crazy people walking around. None of this will be an issue for you though, as long as you have a car, or take Uber for example. We had to ride public transit though, so it was horrible for us. Anyways, our stay at the actual hotel was wonderful, very quiet, very safe, and very secure. It is just the surrounding area, near by the hotel, that does not feel safe. There are coffee shops (Minute coffee, and Starbucks) within a very short walking distance, and there is a pizza place across the street, along with a lot of middle eastern restaurants near by. We really loved the actual motel room, and the staff were nice, but we would not stay again, due to the bad location. Again, you will be safe, just so you have a car, or take Ubers, for example. We just had a horrible experience, due to having to take the public transit bus, from that location. Oh, also, if it is a non smoking room (or maybe any of their rooms), then you will have to pay a $100 deposit. We received our cash deposit back within a few minutes of checking out, so I know these people (the...
Read morePlease Signature Inn...don't price gouge with people trying to stay cool when their electricity is out. On Monday night after Beryl hit, I had no power. I drove around trying to find a place to stay. On my way home and desperate, I saw the Signature Inn that used to be an Oyo hotel. I used to vote there. I was quoted $110. They let me see the room before I would commit to stay. Luckily, the credit card went through because they had initially asked for cash. The room was nice and clean; however, not having Wi-Fi, TV, or a swimming pool makes the rate a bit high. I did find great toiletries to wash my hair. The hotel also has a mini fridge and a microwave. The bed wasn't comfortable. I checked out on Tuesday morning hoping my power would go back on Tuesday, July 9. Luckily, I got power back the following day, Tuesday. I told a former co-worker I had found a clean room for $110. Her power hadn't been restored on Wednesday. They quoted her $130 for the same room category. I went to the hotel to bring her some bottles of water. She told me she got them to reduce the rate to $120. I saw a man looking for his hotel room. He told me he paid $130. Taking advantage of Houstonians during hard times is unscrupulous. If I owned a hotel, I'd give discounts until the city is...
Read moreI planned the trip at the last minute, so there weren't many options for me to choose from at this price range with decent reviews. So I booked it based on the distance from China town and google reviews. I booked for a 2 nights stay.
I have to say, the area is pretty ghetto and the entrance is difficult to find. When I arrived at night, the lobby also felt super scary. There were some people standing in the parking lot smoking and chatting in the first night, and the 2nd night, there was a guy who tried to talk to us (my mom and me, 2 ladies). We had a short convo and tried to rush to the room, but then the room key didn't work. I ran to the lobby to get a new key but still felt kinda scared after we got back into our room.
The room is newly renovated. We got the room at the very end on 2nd floor 202 iirc. The room got a tiny living room with a couch, an extra TV, and an extra AC. New appliances and a very cute microwave in the room. The beds were comfortable and clean. Water pressure was decent. Towels quality could be better.
PRO: New renovated room Clean and comfortable beds New appliances and light up mirror Spacious room Close to China Town Good value
CON: outside is ghetto, try not to go out at night. Towels don't feel good quality Room key malfunctioning...
