UPDATE So as you can see below the owner chose to respond to my comment about the price of the food (which by the way $8 for a SMALL arepa is a lot to pay for just plain cheese.) However, did not want to own up to the quality of the food served. At the end of the day the food was bad. So if you pay $1 or $20 it still ended up in the garbage because it tasted and looked horrible. I gave them one star just so that I can post this review HOWEVER if possible I would have given this negative 5 stars. I paid $22 for TWO arrepas. Unbelievable I thought maybe they are really big. Boy was I WRONG. The lady at the restaurant handed me a tiny small oily paper bag and before she gave me this tiny bag containing my $22 dollar worth of arrepas she asked me for PROOF that I was the one that actually purchased this item. Once at my desk I opened this package and took a look at the mess within. The arrepa was drenched in old oil cheese was congealed to the sides hard and crunchy the arrepa itself was lukewarm and the contents inside just thrown in there. It was the most unappetizing item I have EVER ordered in my entire life. After paying $22 I tried to eat this and could not. I had to spit the food out. My stomach was hurting after a few bites. In the trash is where my entire meal went. Save your money DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!

Placed an order through GrubHub, wanting authentic Venezuelan food: 2 arepas llaneras (23) 2 reina pepiadas (19) 1 mondongo soup ($20) 1 side of guava tequeños (8.50) 2 Soursop juice 16 oz (12) 1 bistec encebollado Total $112 before taxes, etc. The arepas, and the soup, especially the soup were SO GREASY 😵‍💫 I could use the grease to cook for an entire MONTH! The juice… 🤦🏼‍♀️ oh Lord! Noooo milk! Quién in their right mind drinks soursop juice with NO milk!? The rice was basmati and tasted weird, and the meat was full of chunks of fat. The soup was just as plain as a PBJ sandwich 😵‍💫 I’m questioning if they’re actually Venezuelan, because it simply lack ANY taste AND flavor!! First and LAST time ordering here. I’ve visited other Venezuelan restaurants in the area, where the portions are BIGGER, TASTIER (to die for!!!), and NEVER this pricey! Even if I had ordered directly from them, it’d have not been worth the price!

Very disappointing. I was so happy to see a new place listed in UberEats, and know from past experience that Venezuelan food is quite good, but this was a disappointment. The guacamole (pictured) looked and tasted exactly like the awful packaged stuff you can get at the supermarket, and not something they even made, and the fact that the owner responded to this review and didn't deny it is troubling. (I ordered two of them and I barely even ate one, it was so nasty.) The dishes I got were decent, but nothing stood out. Their platanos maduros, however, were very tasty. The soup was good. The beef dishes were sub-par. What's most striking is that all the bad reviews are exactly the same, with people talking about how food was reheated and clearly not fresh, etc., and all the responses from the owner are the same: attitude and horrible customer service. Stay away from this place.

The highlight of Sabor Venezolano, without a doubt, is its exquisite menu. The extensive selection of Venezuelan culinary delights is a testament to the passion and expertise of the chefs. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Venezuelan cuisine or new to its flavors, you're bound to find something that will tantalize your taste buds.

Start your meal with the famous Arepas, a staple of Venezuelan cuisine. These golden corn pockets, stuffed with a variety of fillings such as shredded beef, black beans, and tangy cheese, are simply heavenly. Each bite is a harmonious blend of textures and flavors that will leave you craving more.

For the main course, the Pabellón Criollo is an absolute must-try. This traditional Venezuelan dish features tender shredded beef, black beans, white rice, and sweet plantains. The combination of these ingredients creates a symphony of flavors that is both comforting and satisfying.

The service at Sabor Venezolano is exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff who are eager to guide you through the menu and offer recommendations. Their knowledge and enthusiasm add an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience.

To complete your meal, indulge in a dessert like the Quesillo, a velvety smooth caramel flan that is the perfect sweet ending to your culinary adventure.

Sabor Venezolano (Westheimer, Houston) - A Disappointing Experience

Last week, I visited Sabor Venezolano on Westheimer for a late lunch, hoping for an authentic Venezuelan culinary experience. Unfortunately, the visit was largely a letdown, especially considering I've enjoyed Venezuelan cuisine in several other countries.

I ordered a soup that was advertised to contain rib meat. What arrived was an unappetizing, likely reheated, and certainly not-so-fresh soup. The "rib meat" itself was a small, frozen, unthawed piece still on the bone, loaded with an unappealing amount of fat tissue. The portion of meat was far from generous, leaving much to be desired in terms of quality and quantity.

While the waitress and cashier were polite and friendly, the overall cleanliness of the establishment was a concern. The dining area felt unkempt, adding to the less-than-pleasant atmosphere. The impression worsened even before stepping inside, as the parking lot had noticeable broken glass shards, suggesting a recent car break-in – an unsettling sight.

Given the poor quality of the food and the cleanliness issues, despite the pleasant staff, I will not be returning to Sabor Venezolano. It failed to meet the standards I've come to expect from Venezuelan...
