I took my kids here for part of their Spring break, just myself with my four kids. When I called to make a reservation, I specifically asked if they have continental breakfast and they said yes. That was the only one thing I really cared about, as it would help with my budget tremendously (considering I have 4 kids). When we arrived and checked in I asked what time breakfast was, the front desk guy said they aren’t in fact doing continental breakfast due to Covid-19. I was pretty disappointed, but didn’t say anything. The following day, the kids and I went down to the beach for a few hours, and when we got back to our room the door was red & we were locked out. I reported to the front desk, and was told maintenance would be there in a little while to change the batteries on the door, but until then we would have to have the manager let us in every single time we left and returned. Then, halfway through the day the manager informed us the water would be shut off at 6pm for a few hours. So, to be safe I rushed everyone back to our room from the beach to ensure all 5 of us got a shower before the water would be shut off for the night. I was also informed to let front desk know if we needed extra towels or anything since the maids aren’t servicing rooms due to Covid. When I called for more towels on day 2, they gave the 5 of us 2 towels. After all of that, i called front desk to request a late check out the final day, which was a Wednesday when the hotel was practically empty. They said no late checkouts. So, I was a bit disappointed in the lack of customer care on their behalf. I was friendly, didn’t complain once about the many inconsistencies we experienced, and was not accommodated in any way. The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because the room was very clean upon arrival & the maids were very friendly, and polite. Overall I was not 100% satisfied and won’t be...
Read moreI wanted a place to wake up to overlooking the Ocean for the holidays.. without it costing me a mortgage.. this place ticked the boxes and based on the reviews I decided to give it a go without too much expectation.
I can honestly say this was a very pleasant experience for me. The room was big and clean. No bugs. It was family friendly and plenty of room for my toddler to run around. The balcony was decent and semi private. It was lovely having breakfast and a coffee overlooking the beach/ocean. Yes there was a road immediately in front of us with bus stops and a couple of homeless people camping outside but they didn't bother us at all even when we walked past them to go across to the beach. There was a door to take as a shortcut from the hotel to the beach also, which was helpful.
The shower was hot and a decent pressure and there was a bathtub which my toddler made the most of.
There was a fridge and microwave in the room that was handy and a dining table with comfortable seats. There was a vending machine for snacks and drinks in the hallway. There was a coffee machine in the room, however, I could not stomach the coffee supplied. It was nasty (this wasn't the only hotel we stayed in that offered the same coffee/set up so it seems to be becoming a new standard at budget hotels). I'm thankful to have brought my own as well as a back up. But this is the only thing i found to be not so great.
There was plenty of parking on site and no extra charge.
Above all I felt safe here, which is especially important travelling with a child. I recommend the ocean view room(s). I would definitely stay here again, but probably for a long weekend or a few days next...
Read moreJune 24-28, 2024 We are senior (91 & 72), disabled (walking canes) visitors coming to this area of So. Cal. for the first time.. usually go to San Diego area. I chose this hotel from Google for it's proximity to the ocean. We are not beach-goers, but want a place to see, hear, and smell the ocean from our room. However, it is a very short walk (not crossing any streets) to the sand/water's edge from our hotel. Our phone GPS took us right to the hotel, and we easily parked in the below-ground parking. The only elevator took us to the first floor Registration Desk for a quick & easy check-in. Our room on the 2nd floor had a beautiful, panoramic view of the ocean from our balcony, a comfortable King bed, a mini-fridg, mini microwave, mini-coffee maker and a roomy bathroom, (though lighting was POOR). I was told the only "Accessible" rooms did not have ocean views, so ours had a regular bathtub, but I think ALL rooms should have grab-bars in every tubs for Guest safety. We spent much of our visit with relatives and acting like tourists (Queen Mary & Disneyland!), but mornings and evenings in our room we're very enjoyable, relaxing, and comfortable. Previously, the hotels we've stayed at offer, minimum, Continental breakfast and fresh coffee each morning. This hotel only offers fresh coffee on the 1st floor, near the Registration desk.. knowing this in advance, we brought our own muffins! The hotel was clean and comfortable, staff was friendly & helpful, and location was just what we wanted. I would recommend this site to others, and would likely return to this location on a...
