Super Mex — Restaurant in Huntington Beach

I'm a bit of a chicken taco aficionado, no soft tacos here please. So often I'm dismayed with what some establishments serve. However SUPER MEX slotted in to the #2 spot behind only el tarasco in Manhattan Beach on my list of the best chicken tacos. The chicken was cooked to perfection, moist yet crispy around the edges. You could taste the freshness of frying oil, there were no other flavors imparted by it. The toppings were fresh and added chilled, a good taco necessity, who likes limp, wilted lettuce and half baked tomatoes? No one and obviously, SUPER MEX doesn't either. This taco was a delight, crisp tortilla crunch hot juicy chicken and cold toppers combining to to create a heavenly experience with every bite. They have not succomed to the all IPA beer menu either and serve a nice selection of delicious Mexican beers as well as others and some IPA's for you hipsters. My dos equis amber draft was served at an ideal drinking temperature and was gone almost before I knew it. A pleasant casual environment, attentive staff and the second best of thousands of chicken tacos I've sampled are awaiting your visit...

Terrible experience- do not recommend for dog lovers or pet owners. Even OUTDOOR seating (which we chose specifically for our dog)- the manager was unreasonable and simply petty. I brought my dog in her little enclosed stroller and he said I had to take her out and put her on the floor because "it is germy" (my dog) and obviously taking her out and putting her on the ground would help keep their place cleaner... she was in her stroller! Not out or on a chair, etc. But he would rather have us take her out and walking around on a leash than in there?! Makes no sense. I did not see how she was bothering anyone as she is very quiet and we take her with us to dine on patio seating frequently. For context, she has separation anxiety and would rather come with us than be left alone. She is very good, not barking and disrupting others- usually people don't even know she is there. She is a small yorkie poodle mix and we bathe her at least once every week, usually more because we take her on walks often....

Love this spot. Great service and as always complimentary Chips and salsa. I came for a late lunch(330-4),so I don't remember if it was happy hour yet or if I missed any lunch specials. I had my drinks refilled without asking,and my food came within 10-15 minutes from when I ordered. Parking can be a little tricky but usually can get a spot. It's across PCH from the beach,but the view is blocked by a hotel. You also have the option of seating at a table inside,outdoor patio or a bar-which have a few tvs, in case a sporting event is going on,so pretty cool. Cost was about $15-20 per person and that's including the drinks. This is my new go to for burrito munchies now that Albertos has decided to over charge for less quality and bad attitudes from their staff. I'll drive the extra 10 miles for a better eating...
