This is exactly the type of place I could hope to find if I'm ever in a new city: small, sometimes quiet but sometimes busy and loud with happily family and friends, and most importantly, with great quality food! The family who works here are awesome, nice people to top it off! Every menu item you can order has a masterfully crafted recipe with flavor combinations that compliment one another exquisitely. My favorite to order is the Da Kine Burger. It is a juicy, delicious burger with a thick slice of pineapple in it. The acidity of the fruit combines well with the rich focus of the teriyaki beef patty and the onions. Napkins required, so use caution eating this one on the go. All burgers come with a favorable portion of fries, which is a great burger side-kick. The Tri-Tip Burrito is a close second favorite if mine. Lots of meat packed in a burrito with rice and grilled onions. The flavor really smacks the taste buds! If you're able to go on a weekday then I definitely recommend checking out the Tri-Tip Quesadilla. Take what I said for the burrito and add a bunch of melted cheese and a good crisp to the tortilla. Best I've ever had. It's large and cooks for longer than the burgers and burritos so they can't make it in weekends. That's understandable and perfectly reasonable to me! Also if they aren't super busy (which is rare on sunny weekends), I love getting the Banana Shake. It, like the Quesadilla, is the best I've ever had (but tastes much different from a quesadilla, lol). It is rich and creamy with a wonderful banana flavor (it's blended with actual bananas). Everything else on the menu is truly great as well (I've tried most items as I live nearby and frequent the place anytime I want good food). The Pocket Burger is a favorite of most visitors as it's Burger with an egg in it, and the is the name of the restaurant. I've never seen anyone unhappy eating there; ever! It's all delicious food and good times. They have a couple of small tables inside and a few larger tables outside. So even though the resturant is small, there is seating available. There beach is also just a short walk away so you can enjoy your food on the sand (just be sure not to litter on the beach, or anywhere for that matter). If you want to grab a cookie while waiting in line, go for it (if they have any left for the day, that is!). I honestly find it hard to allow myself to try other restaurants anymore since this is so close to my house and is so great; I can't...
Read moreFabulous little burger shack near Sunset/Bolsa Chica beach surf spots, along PCH. Family-owned. You're attended to by the super friendly father, mother, and often their grown kids. Every order made to order right then and there in their small kitchen, so there can be a few minutes wait when they get busy, especially with hungry surfers after a long session. But it's so worth the wait. I've had the delish Salmon burger and breakfast burrito, but I almost always jonez for the Pocket Burger, a giant, jaw-popping, stacked burger with everything but the kitchen sink in it: lettuce, tomato, house-made sauce, what seems like fully 1/2 a large avocado, and a fried egg, STANDARD. And it comes with fries! It's a giant burger, with no component skimped on, and utterly delicious. The hardest part is getting your mouth around it and holding it all together while you're eating it. All of which, including the fries, at the price of a single "gourmet burger" in many trendy restaurants (and without all the extra components, for which they'd most certainly charge you). Honestly, knowing what the cost of avocados and eggs alone are nowadays, I don't know how they can stay in business. Parking is limited as they are tiny and right along PCH, but it's not that hard to find street parking around. Seating is outside on a few tables and benches. I see patrons take their food to go or even eat in the car. It's a super casual, beach community vibe. Nice family, more-than-fair pricing, delish food. Feels good to support a local, non-corporate cookie...
Read moreThe pocket burger is a hidden gem. Our friends had been telling us about their amazing burgers. They were definitely right ! Delicious! Of course we ordered the pocket burger - fabulous- cooked perfectly with good toppings. Every burger comes with fries or onion rings.
The menu was a surprise. They also serve Asian fusion cuisine.
The owners cook and are very friendly and help you find the perfect combination for your tastes.
The friendly waiters pass out delicious flavors of the new aguas frescos. Yum 🌴
The only downside is this is really quite literally a hidden gem. It’s hard to locate it when you are driving. It’s on a busy street so it can be difficult to find parking. Many people ride their bicycles here to make it easy.
There’s always a long line but they fill the orders fast. It’s worth the wait.
Enjoy and talk to the other excited people talking about their favorite food and how far they traveled to get to their favorite burger place.
Enjoy the food and support this local restaurant!
Just had another great meal. The French fries are the perfect - crispy with a great texture
The burger is delicious. Had the bbq burger 🍔 this time. Love the grilled onions and onion rings.
The taco 🌮 was good too.
Hats off to this excellent staff who work so hard to make everything fast...
