I just booked this hotel for a family reunion from August 22nd to August 24th. This was the worst experience I ever had. I was told one price per rooms and another price is given online. I was told that I would be getting a discount price for my family reunion which was $119 per night. If you go online the price per night is $70. So we paid more as a group rate then we would have if we had booked the rooms online. I truly feel as if I was cheated it was an increase in price and a decrease in service. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I will tell everyone to please think twice before booking this hotel. Again please think twice before you ever decide to book this hotel. I booked two connecting rooms. The one room didn't have a microwave, refrigerator, nor did it have a remote for the TV, so you couldn't watch TV in this room. I went into the bathroom and the tub looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in years. I took pictures and took them downstairs to Elizabeth to show her. Her response was it looks like a plumbing issue is going on in the bathroom. I said can you get someone to come up to room 309 to clean the tub. She told me that she could move me to another room. My thing is why would I want to move to another room when I have connecting rooms and you told me that you don't have many connecting rooms and that I should have requested them rooms a long time ago. At night the patio area is pitch black and the only light you can receive is from vehicle's headlights who are coming and going. The carpet in all areas needs to be taken up because the carpet is so old and ran down. The carpet looks as if it hadn't been cleaned in months if not years. I had family coming in from all around the world and this was some of their first time in Cleveland and this is what they were introduced too. What a memory. WOW! For a hotel to host this many people you only have one luggage cart that actually works, where you don't feel as though your luggage is going to fall off of the cart. They only had one up and running elevator. All weekend you had to wait 5 minutes or better to get on or off the elevator. The steps were move faster but due to my health issues I'm not able to walk up and down the stairs. The staff especially Elizabeth and she's the manager were so very unprofessional. They need to take a course on how to treat and respect your guest. Their communication skills are so unprofessional. In one of the rooms where my cousin from out of town slept. She went to grab the handicap reel in the shower and it completely came out of the wall, she fell and hurt herself badly. Went to the front desk to tell Elizabeth what just happened and her reply was there's nothing she can do about it. I had one cousin to drop her phone down the elevator shaft and Elizabeth told her that she would have to call the elevator people on Monday, which is today to see if they could come out to retrieve her phone and to see if they would charge the hotel for coming out. My thing is the elevator people needs to come out away to service the other elevator that is not up and running, so why would you try to act like you are calling the elevator company out just to retrieve a phone when they need to be out there servicing that broke down elevator anyway period. Somebody need to truly go check out this hotel because this hotel needs a lot of repairs and service done to it. The Ramanda Inn has always been a great hotel to stay in, but this place makes all of the others look very bad. If I could rate this place a negative number they truly would get the highest negative number you can give them. This experience was truly a nightmare. Saturday night we had rented the ballroom to have our family dinner. One of my family members put push pins in the walls. Elizabeth came to me talking about she was going to cancel my event because they just put new wallpaper up in the ballroom. Granted once the push pins where taken out of the walls, you couldn't see any marks or any holes. She said that if we don't pay her $3,000, she was...
Read moreThis is the first time I've ever used a one star rating. I've never had issues staying at any hotel but this place takes the award for the worst. I can't believe it's actually open for business. Let's start with the location/outside. The hotel isn't even marked, no signs, not even on the floor mats, nothing to identify the place. The parking lot really gave me concern for the safety of my vehicle given all of the random people lurking. The lot is not even maintained, it reminded me of an old abandoned Kmart parking lot with grass growing from every crack and poorly illuminated. I found an entrance that said "Registration" but still no signage of anykind. I found the check-in and as I waited in line, I was asked by several other customers if I knew what hotel we were all at (I still didn't know). The lobby is decent, you can see some remodeling took place and the gentleman at check-in was great but ridiculously busy and alone. I thought, ok...it's probably a bad day, short staffed, etc....I get it, I've been there before. Got a room on the 4th floor, made our way up using the elevator that definitely needs some serious maintenance. It was a rough ride heading up but once I entered the 4th floor, that's when I caught the cigarette smoke smell and poorly lit hallway. The hallway walls and doors were in very rough shape along with carpet that was just begging to be replaced. Found the room, walked in and immediately noticed water across the bathroom floor that was coming from the wall. The wall was soft to the touch and there were no towels of anykind to atleast slow the water down. As I took a quick look around, I found mold next to the electrical outlet to the right of the bed with another soft wall and soaked carpet. There were no comforters and nothing had been wiped down, not even the mirror. Tried to call the front desk but no answer and read some incriminating reviews and that's when I immediately went to check-out. The same guy I checked in with asked why I was leaving and I was very cool and explained everything without prejudice and he didn't even offer a different room nor a refund so I just left and contacted the 3rd party I used to rent the room whom were surprised to hear my story. Hours later, the 3rd party contacted me to explain the hotel refused to issue the refund so the 3rd party was giving me a credit and were going to investigate the location. Again, I'm shocked this place is open for business. Save your time and effort for something...
Read moreI stayed here with a friend for the Phillies/Guardians series this past weekend as we're both huge Philly sports fans and have a goal of getting to all 30 MLB parks.
The intro being out of the way, I'll admit I was a little scared when we booked this place considering the other bad reviews mentioning smelly rooms and lack of breakfast, being a glorified homeless shelter etc., when we walked in we were told there was a wait for rooms as they were still getting them ready. They claimed 20-30 mins but ended up being close to 2 hours. I was a little unhappy about that but when we finally got a room, the cleaning crew was literally just outside and the room was good and ready, the room and the surrounding hallway did not smell anything like weed/cigarettes etc. Another complaint is that the bathroom only had 1 big towel and like 3 or 4 hand towels, but problems like that can be avoided when you pack your own towels like I did.
Another thing that scares me when it comes to lower-end hotels like this is the possibility of bed bugs, I always have this rule of before setting any of your personal belongings in your room, to do a thorough check for any signs of life from those agents of Satan. Given that the room was literally just cleaned, I felt at ease but still did my 20 point inspection just to be sure. Passed with flying colors.
The front desk employees dealt with the influx of traffic for the baseball series the best they could, they were serviceable and I realize things like the room wait time may not always be their fault. We also ran into an issue when returning to our hotel after the game Saturday night, both of our room keys would not work. Luckily the front desk swapped them out for us and within minutes we were back in the room and able to catch up on rest and catch a 2nd wind for our day on Sunday.
Our room did have a fridge and cable TV with a decent package, fair warning that the tv is outdated and didnt have modern amenities like a remote access cable guide. Had to do old school channel surfing for something to watch for the periods of downtime we had during our stay.
I think with the proper care and management this place can be something better than what it has been, dont get spooked by the bad reviews but be warned that there were other things that weren't great but sometimes they can be counteracted by doing some pre-planning on your...
