This hotel is very unique. Unlike many Residence Inn I've stayed at in the East Coast, this one is like an apartment complex. They are about 20 units, and each has 2 floors, 4 rooms each. I was in #18 Room 1812 (1st floor room) - a studio room. The room is updated with a nice kitchen and kitchen counter for dining. It has the standard fridge, microwave, coffee maker, bathroom with a door separating the walking shower and toilet. The room was cold the first 2 nights with the AC, which is what I like, but day 3 (thru 5), the AC wasn't working properly. The room was warm, but comfortable. The carpet in the room and the towels always felt moist/damp, but not wet. After staying at a hotel with stain on the towels, I started bringing my own towels when I travel. I was happy that I did. I would shower at night after a long day of exploring the area, and hung the towel on the back of the door to dry. By morning, after taking my morning shower, my towel was still damp. I travel with my pets, and I usually wipe them down with a wet cloth before they go to bed. At all the hotels I stayed at, the pet towels are usually dried by the next morning. At this hotel, the towels were still wet. During my entire stay, the towels and and carpet felt the same - damp/moist but not wet. I recommend bring a pair of slippers or extra socks. I always bring extra socks to wear around the hotel room. On my last day there, I accidentally spilled water on the kitchen floor. I wiped it with some clean paper towel and when I flipped the towel around, i was surprised to see the paper towel was gray - dirty. The room was very humid (i.e. towels and carpet) that the tiles by the front door and the kitchen were slippery when I had my hiking boots on. When I was packing my things, getting ready to check out, I noticed some stuff on the lower back of the chair that looked like mold. When I mentioned the issues I had to the receptionist, he mentioned that with nature and with them by Lake Erie, the humidity level is bad. With the hotel being outdoor, apartment layout, it is worse. When I did the hotel survey upon my return, Marriott reached out to me, and told me that they will look into the issues I brought up. I like humidity, it helps my lungs. Dry air hurts my lungs. So, it doesn't bother me that the humidity level in the room was high. What I didn't like is the feeling of the carpet and towels and dirty floor. It makes me wonder if there is any health concerns since the room is "moist". Asides from that, the property was pretty well maintained, and the staff is very friendly. Everyone I ran into smiled and greeted me. I felt so welcome. Parking was a challenge the first few days I was there, but there were plenty of parking. I don't know if I will stay at this hotel again, but I don't know when I'll visit Cleveland again. I do love Residence Inn, because almost all of them are Dogfriendly. Residence Inn is my first hotel choice, unless they are not in the area where I'm visiting. I usually would go out of the way just to stay at Residence Inn, even if I have to drive extra miles. I love that it has a kitchen and open floor plan, which gives my little ones...
Read moreI went ahead and booked a stay in this facility after reading the reviews expressing concerns with cleanliness and upkeep thinking that Marriott would not allow for the problems to persist. This stay proved this thought to be wrong. Starting with the good and expected: The facility is in a great location and the cost of stay is very reasonable. The free breakfast is currently bagged, and the gym can be used by appointment (pandemic precautions) Our stay reinforced the same concerns about cleanliness needing improvement and poor upkeep brought up in the reviews I read prior to our stay. Our room specifically had noticeable stains in the carpet throughout. The smaller throw pillow also had a red stain. And the couch looked like it needed a good cleaning. The office chair had a broken wheel and there were only 2 mugs 1 glass and not enough cutleries in the kitchen. My husband suggested we request for a room change and I went against it learning from past reviews that a request for a different room resulted in a room that was at par or worse than the initial one. On hindsight, if I listened to my husband, then maybe I would not have had experienced polled water and manual water draining in the shower, in the morning when drain stopper in the tub will not lift to allow water to drain. For this situation, I personally requested for the drain to be attended to as well as for mugs and glasses situation to be rectified, to the front desk. The drain situation was fixed, and the request for mugs and glasses were not. I did specify to the front desk that I was easy and the drain and water pooling was my deal breaker. Maybe that was why it was the only request attended to. The next morning, after this experience, our bagged breakfast also included moldy muffin which I. brought to the front desk’s attention. The reaction I got was an offer for replacement, and she was nice. However the main purpose of making sure no other bag had a moldy muffin was my main concern. To others considering this facility for a place to stay: going in prepared for the worst and expecting for the best would lessen the disappointment that could result from unmet expectations with this facility specially if you are loyal to the brand. I have not had a stay at a Residence Inn that compares to this, Taking time to complete this review and hoping that the originators are actually reading and that others would have better experience...
Read moreWhen we arrived at the Residence Inn, we were greeted by two employees. One male and one female. I do not remember the female's name, but the male's name was Eric. They were both very friendly and treated us like they knew us for a long time. They made conversation with us from the moment we walked in and were very personable. We were there for a basketball tournament. There were cookies and bottled waters awaiting us in the lobby. We checked in Friday and left on Sunday. The boys got to enjoy the outside basketball court. They were there every time they had some free time. On Saturday, they let us use the conference room for all of our teams to have a pizza party. They were very helpful in providing us utensils and such. They even let the adults hang out after. Eric was very personable and interacted with our group the whole time we were there. The rooms were Amazing! I really have no major complaints at all. The rooms were so beautiful! I loved everything about them. They were clean. The bed and pillows were SO comfortable! I wish I could of had more time to enjoy that while I was there. I loved how there was the common living area and then the rooms for privacy. We were there with a group and some people just had the King suite, but they also commented on how nice those rooms were. We did not get anyone to come in and clean the room or make the beds while we were there, but I was ok with that.
The only issues I had was that my husband and I stayed in the room with the double doors. Those doors didn't really shut all the way. Not sure if that was just an issue in my room or if all the double doors were that way. Also, when you flushed the toilet, it would continue to run unless you manually lifted the handle up. But those issues were so minor.
During Breakfast the area was nice and clean. At one point the juice machine ran out of juice. I let someone know and once they refilled it, they personally brought me my cup of juice. I thought that was very nice. I was impressed by all the staff that I had a chance to interact with. I will definitely stay there again if...
