But you can avoid the dreaded experience of the latter by going to see Raul at The Mattress Brothers. He is highly knowledgeable, honest, transparent, and will work within your budget without any high sales pressure tactics or upselling. And if you start your initial research with him and walk out the door, he won't chase you down for a phone number to harangue you later. Why?

Because Raul knows you'll be back after you've done your homework. His prices are competitive, always matching and often beating online retailers, and finds creative ways to sweeten the deal. Plus he offers services such as free local delivery, set up and haul away of your old mattress which the online places usually don't provide. And if they do it will cost much more. If you find an online seller that offers the same brand for a military or first responders or teacher's discount, he'll match that too. Happened to me.

Even if you pay more here (which you won't), nothing beats trying a mattress in a showroom vs buying one blindly online and then regretting it later. The free trial return policies are not what they seem. Raul will explain. It's all mandated by state hygiene laws and they are very strict about it in California. Nothing is free.

The whole mattress shopping process is confusing enough to begin with, and feels like a racket. Endless brands these days. No longer dominated by Sealy, Serta and Simmons. But don't fall for the false hype. Every mattress salesman I met said the same. You'll be back in 3-4 years.

"Oh but he's going to push me towards an expensive high-end Tempurpedic or Aireloom mattress I can't afford". Nope. Unless your budget allows for it, that's not what Raul does. For him the best publicity is positive word of mouth. And that's exactly what he earned here.

He shuffles back and forth between stores in Indio and Palm Desert. And there's a third store coming soon in Palm Springs. Mattress Brothers is kicking ass and Raul is a big reason why.

We ended up with the Helix Midnight. Helix is a reputable and growing company that make solidly constructed mattresses that are super comfortable. Have had it for nearly two weeks and so far we love it. Upon delivery, the new sheets we ordered online didn't arrive on time. I called Raul to see what he could do. Of course he hooked me up. Got a sweet Independence Day discount on bamboo sheets which we've never slept on before. Wow. What a difference from cotton. Not easy to clean and they wrinkle quite a bit. But man it's like sleeping on a cloud made of silk.

Lastly, Raul did not pressure me to write and post a review. He sent a link when I asked for one. But did this on my own when I could.
