you’ve managed to find your way to the little seaside village of Esperanza as a destination based on really good information. Flamboyan is ground zero for a whole bunch of reasons: it’s THE primo location for the Malecon, several blocks of promenade lit at night where all the action is; you have Duffy’s right downstairs for all your initial wants/needs and their vibe and provisions speak the heart and soul of a desert island; Flamboyan stocks a little commons upstaIrs for guests that is thinking WAY ahead of your own planning and they know what they’re doing: snorkel gear? no need to bring...beach towels? games? coffee? coolers? beach chairs? wine glasses? (a fridge?): same; they don’t ding you for ANYTHING as an extra but provide everything you need to fully enjoy your stay; you can drive all over the island to fabulous snorkeling right offshore at countless amazingly beautiful remote beaches OR you can dive right under the old pier pilings a few hundred yards from Flamboyan and see nearly as much really easily. Flamboyan/Esperanza has a unique combination that is like the old time Caribbean and they have the recipe right. The owners are hands on in spades and are working like dogs - Alysa provided a huge amount of well organized VERY helpful orientation material by email on a host of issues. They are a perfect partner for an unforgettable vacation that feels totally off the grid (and they have WiFi). This is a diamond in the rough and an incredible bargain vs the other accommodations available, none of which have nearly the location special sauce....
Read moreWe chose this accommodation because it appeared to be in the middle of everything and it was. We were able to walk to beautiful beaches and to the bio bay tours. Alyssa and Matt have thought of everything a guest could possibly want. First of all, the room was furnished with plates, silverware, cups, beach chairs and towels and some beautiful art. The common kitchen area had coffee, 2 refrigerators to share, a filtered and cooled water source, snorkel items, hammocks, beach toys, etc. They also gave us ice for our beach picnic cooler daily. I have never experienced so many amenities. The view of the ocean from our balcony was perfect and we enjoyed mornings and evenings there. The restaurant below, Duffy’s, had great food and drinks and a cheerful staff. I sincerely cannot say enough good things about this place; the hosts were thoughtful and attentive to our needs and the accommodations were exactly what we wanted and more than we expected. I would highly recommend Flamboyan Guesthouse for your stay...
Read moreThis place provides all you need, for a wonderful stay in Esperanza, Vieques. It is a cute clean escape with an unparalleled view of the sea. Towels are soft, beds are comfy. There's AC and fan in each room, earplugs, blackout curtains, dishes, and bathroom/shower essentials. They even equip you with beach umbrella, cooler, and chairs--- so clutch for a day out on the sand! ||||The owners work at their restaurant below and are responsive (through the airbnb app), though low-touch so you feel quite independent. They took care of an adjustment to our reservation timely and saved us some money when we left early. ||||Common area kitchenette includes: coffee station, fridge, microwave, and water dispenser.||||Note about the street it's on: expect it to be especially loud on weekends (cars b-l-a-s-t music from their insane speaker systems). That is the same no matter which hotel you're at on this main road, but they at least warned us about it and provide earplugs.||||I would stay here again,...
