We were planning a weekend getaway for the two of us. I started to research some places close to our city within driving distance and Jefferson TX kept showing up on various websites as a destination. So, with that information, I decided to see what BnB’s were available. After research, I found The House of the Seasons. Several people had given it high marks so I went for it. I booked the Lady Bird Johnson Suite for a weekend. Then, our babysitter got sick! So, we had to push the arrival date a week out but Shirley, the manager/hostess of the House was able to move us without a problem.||||Shirley is a dynamic hostess with personality. She called me the day we were supposed to arrive to make sure we knew how to get there and what to expect. She literally left the lights on and the door unlocked. As she put it, “…it’s Jefferson Texas..” so there wouldn’t be any problem. Upon arrival, we found our room all ready to settle into with plenty of towels, drinks in the refrigerator as they come with the stay, as well as other treats. The next two mornings, we had gourmet breakfast specially prepared by Shirley. She is not only the host, cook and in charge of the groundskeeping. As I mentioned, she’s a dynamic lady that made our stay that much more enjoyable. For dinner, she recommended a fabulous restaurant (The Stillwater Inn). She got us reservations simply by texting the owner. How’s that for service? Let’s just say the dinner was amazing.||||Did I mention that Shirley also gives a tour of the house? For her guests only, they get to see the cupola where as the general public does not. The tour is part of the stay for her guests. It’s a fantastic house with so much history and antiques that are original to the house. The 4 acres or so that surround the house is pleasant and worth walking around and just enjoying the peacefulness. I can see why some people choose to have their wedding here. Oh, yea, did I mention Shirley handles this too? In addition, check out the greenhouse that is adjacent to the home.||||Overall, our stay was so relaxing and the house is just a few minutes from the historic downtown of Jefferson. I researched several BnB’s in the area and while I’m sure others were nice as well, this one just felt right. We felt at home, we felt like Shirley really knows her history as well as the city of Jefferson. In short, we plan to visit Jefferson again and of course stay at The House of the Seasons....
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at this b&b the week before Valentine's Day - - it was everything I hoped it would be. Not only is the home itself beautiful - taking us back to the day of old world charm - - but the rooms were nice size, beds comfy, coffee pot in the room and the jacuzzi was outstanding. The icing on the cupcake was Ms. Shirley - - the breakfasts she provided were outstanding - - two thumbs up - - but she is a great narrator and storyteller regarding the home but an awesome tour guide - - answering any and all questions we had. The House of Seasons is a great place to stay and tour around the sleepy town of Jefferson, TX. We will...
Read moreI travel a lot on business and usually it's in more metropolitan areas. Rarely do I ever have the company of my wife or experience a place that feels like home. This trip I was lucky enough to experience both. Every night when we came back to the room cake or cookies were left for a sweet ending to the day. The grounds were charming and the staff was very pleasant and down to earth. We had breakfast one morning and It was amazing! We had fresh homemade banana bread, fruit & yogurt, as well as an amazing quiche. Make sure you get a chance to do this it's certainly a nice change while...
