Monday night dinner at the Haywood House was an absolute delight. We arrived at 5 PM and were seated right away, greeted by a warm and friendly staff who made everyone feel at home. Our server was a standout—helpful, knowledgeable, and full of great recommendations, all delivered with a fantastic personality. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, with a dark, antique dining vibe that transported us back in time. The extensive drink menu and creative dishes were a highlight. We kicked things off with The Gilligan and Skipper cocktails—both excellent—paired with the Fried Queso appetizer drizzled with an unexpected but delicious blueberry sauce. The salads, dressed with homemade blue cheese and ranch, were spot-on. For entrees, the chicken parmigiana was massive, hearty, and bursting with flavor, while the Salisbury steak came with potatoes, a zesty jalapeño gravy, crispy fried onion tangles, and perfectly cooked green beans, all complemented by flawless toasted bread. We also tried Cheddar Chaffles for the first time—crisp, cheesy waffles that were an absolute revelation. I ventured into two more drinks: the fiery Devil Went Down to Georgia and the Spicy Martini—both delicious, though a heads-up for those who shy away from heat. We skipped dessert in-house but couldn’t resist taking home their Monday-special fried PB&J sandwich, which looks and smells incredible—we can’t wait to dig in. This place is a gem, and it’s already a must-visit for our next trip back.

What an amazing gem! I was in town for a weekend event. My friend and I was looking to eat lunch so I did a quick search and found this place. It looked intriguing so we went. The first thing you encounter while walking up to this historical building was the Halloween decorations! I loved that they were being festive. Then we walked in to a place where the decor matches the time period......really cool in my book! We sat at the bar and enjoyed socializing with the staff and other customers. We ordered a cocktail and food. They had lunch specials so we both ordered the Seafood omelet.....off the chain good!!! The seasoned potatoes were equally as good. There was so much food that I could only eat half and took the other half to my husband who was at the town event. While there, I took several pictures. Later I was showing some of my other friends the photos....I noticed something on this particular one. If you zoom in on the TV on the right side of the bar wall, you will see what appears to be a face in the screen. Both TV's had football games on so this was really shocking to see. I did go back and show it to staff members as well as the owners. They agreed it was spooky and shared their own experiences. And oh, there is an upstairs area available for further hanging out after eating. Great experience all the way around! Will definitely make the hour drive back there to dine again!!

Haywood House is a home style Texan bar & grill with fantastic food, and friendly faces. The decor brings you right back to a simpler time without all the distractions of modern conveniences, but with an absolutely calming atmosphere. Overall, this was a fantastic spot for our 4th of July evening in Jefferson. I had the Big Daddy Bourbon BBQ Bacon Burger, and it was perfect. I honestly couldn't have made it better myself, it was sweet, but not too sweet. I was full by the time that burger was gone. The fries were lightly Cajun seasoned, and were way better than Five Guys or In-n-Out. My entire party said their food was very good. Just after we arrived live music began, and it complimented the place quite nicely. It was at just the perfect volume. Not too loud, and not too soft. The tables, chairs and dressings were very tastefully arranged. I knew we were in for a treat when I looked at the menu. They have many options from steaks, burgers & hot dogs, to seafood, soups, salads, and more. Overall, I'm convinced that if you come here and have a bad time, it probably won't be the restaurant's fault. Happy 249th America! Happy dining at Haywood House!

Don't waste your money Had reservations for Saturday night 9/3/2022 at 6:30 pm we were greeted and sat promptly the building and decor are beautiful. The server was a young man 15 and very polite there were two other servers on the floor that were as well very polite and checked on us as well. The issue is the kitchen and the bar. there were only 5 other tables in the lower dining area and 4 people in the bar area. We ordered wine and a Charcuterie board for starters. It took over 30 minutes to get our glass of wine and over an hour to get the Charcuterie board. the board was nicely done with a mix of fruits, cheeses, and meats. We both had ordered the filets. After we finished the app we were told they were out of the smoked potatoes?? why are you out of sides at the beginning of your dinner rush?? we pick other side dishes and again wait forever for the food. When it finally arrived the sides were cold and the steak was lukewarm. We said something to two servers and they apologized for the kitchen but did not offer to replace or reheat the sides. Getting another glass of wine was another major problem. We arrived at 6:30pm placed order at 6:37 pm we paid bill at 9:45 pm for 3 glasses of wine, the 1/2 size charcuterie board, two fillet dinners. Spent over $200.00 for cold food and horrible wine service. I don't blame the server he was 15 the manager or the bartender are responsible and which is obvious seeing neither were present all night. Save your money and eat elsewhere. I left a review on their website only to get an auto reply ( thank you for your feedback ) If they really cared about the customer they would have contacted me and got more info. What was suppose to be a very nice dinner date and highlight of the weekend ended up being the worst part...
