First off I have to thank Dave and Tammy for the hospitality at its finest. We were worried this would be a awkward experience, none at all. These two are adorable. Not one second did I feel fake. They enjoy loving people... what a rare quality. They have empowered me to have faith in humanity with whats all going on in this world today. Welcomed with the smell of grandmas cookies that warmed my heart and soul that remained in the house all night. The house was superior to anywhere my wife and I have ever stayed. Im the most critical person to please. I could not find not one negative feedback to give to you other than I waisted my money and time at Bossier, Louisiana gambling and staying at two Hotels that were not up to par. I wish I would've invested my whole birthday weekend into staying here. Lets just say this was the first bed and breakfast we have stayed at and will be the first place we book asap. They knocked it out the park with the food. I cannot possibly describe the smells that snuck up the stairs into our bedroom. I was completely convinced grandma was downstairs cooking Christmas breakfast for an army. I was smiling ear to ear asking my wife over and over can you smell that. I honestly was positive someone one up my cooking and that's a challenge. I felt I lost before I knew what was served. Lol. We lost a love one dear to us two weeks ago and Dave resembled him identical from the way he spoke to the way he acted. A old soul but a big kid. Wow.... hes amazing!!! Tammy he put me to tears walking down the stairs to a guitar being played as we checked out telling him more about our loss. He consoled me with his words as if it was a hug. A memory that I will keep close to my heart. Tammy told us you come as you please and she ment that. We came in later after drinking at a local bar and really had no idea there were two other couples there. Tammy and Dave have a place to stay at my house free of charge if they ever visit Dallas. We left the room as we found it bc we feel you deserve southern hospitality in return as well. We love you two and made two friends that we will keep in touch. Thanks so much again cant wait to visit soon with friends...
Read moreHaving once lived in a Victorian home in Galveston — a house not merely of walls and windows, but of memory and slow-turning time — I felt a familiar pull the moment I glimpsed this place online, a sense that something old and true still breathed within its frame. From that first impression to the final moment of check-out, every detail was not only seen to, but anticipated, as though the house itself had long ago memorized the rhythm of its guests, and anticipated your needs before you remembered them.
The room, modest in size yet generous in comfort, offered the rare grace of quiet — not emptiness, but a hush broken only by birds in the eaves and the distant, sorrowful echo of a train, as if the landscape mourned something you’d forgotten you’d lost. Compared to Houston’s daily roar, it was a kind of mercy, and perhaps the closest thing the VA might offer as treatment — though no prescription could capture the peace found here.
The digital lock was simple, effective, and unintrusive. We regret not meeting Tammy, though her care was evident in every small grace. David, our host, seems born to this role — his hospitality genuine, his knowledge of the community vast, his breakfasts something far beyond routine. It felt less like staying at an inn, and more like being welcomed back to a chapter of one’s life thought long closed.
With family near, we will return. That much is certain.
