We decided to take a ‘staycation’ in Jerome, Arizona for my husband’s birthday this year. After checking places online I found The Surgeon’s House, the photos of the house made it very intriguing. We were lucky to book a room in a short notice. Andrea, the owner, was so kind and helpful on the phone, I could hardly wait to meet her in person. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by Andrea, who gave us a tour her beautifully decorated house and then we were taken up to our lovely room which is called The Maids Room Back. There was a private patio for us to enjoy along with a ‘secret pathway’ to her incredible gardens out back. Our delicious breakfasts were lovingly made by Andrea and we thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the other guests as we devoured our food. After we ate, we wandered about in her spacious gardens. Various artifacts and art pieces can be discovered everywhere you turn. It’s truly a real Shangri La. Koi ponds, fountains, lounge chairs, hammock, fire pits, you name it and she has it. We are certainly planning to stay at The Surgeon’s House at Christmas-time. Yearly, Andrea decorates the house magnificently for the Holidays, so I can hardly wait. Thanks Andrea for having such a magical place to stay in Jerome.

The surgeons house bed and breakfast, I swear to God, this is my favorite bed-and-breakfast I have ever stayed at in my entire life! What made it so special was Andria. This place is a gym and you are a pearl, a gift. Thank you Andria for your charming and dynamic personality and how you welcome everyone into your home. Very eclectic and eccentric and I loved every minute of it down to cat. Joshua, Bonita, Alyssa, wow, what a special treat to have met you all. Andria, you picked the perfect room for me and my husband, without a doubt. It was charming and the personality of the room was big, bold and flavorful, we loved it. We heard about your gourmet breakfast and I was excited to actually to be able to experience it, and it was not disappointing. The art work was fabulous with a lot of history, the articles were great, but Andria took the time to do her own library. The happy place. Binders of her life, so much time and details. This is the only place that I have ever been that has as many books a small library. Even flip books, a special treat for me for sure. The property was incredible, the gardens, the Koi ponds, special seating everywhere that overlooked the views of the city, quiet and intimate. I WOULD RECOMMEND

Everything was great until my wife was awoke in the middle of the night by a large centipede crawling in her hair. With no emergency phone number or instructions other than a "come find me" we could only try the main line which of course no one answered. I was not about to go knock on all the doors and risk ruining the nights of other guests so with sleeping no longer an option we were forced to drive to cottonwood for another accommodation. The next morning phone call was greeted, with what I interpreted as, a conditional apology clouded by the owners pride of her B&B. She rudely asked me what I expected her to do to fix the problem but by this point my wife's Bday retreat was ruined and I just wanted any and all charges to my credit card dropped. She then expected me to understand that because her B&B was on the side of a mountain that Insects are the norm. However, the website did not warn of this, and regardless NO ONE should be subject to sleeping with dangerous, poisonous insects. The following day I found a charge attempt on my credit card for 127 dollars. How dare I insult her B&B.

Wasps, huge black bees, roaches, spiders, big black ants are just a few of the problems we encountered during our stay here. Thee lady who runs it is nice at first but then her personality completely changed when I let her staff know I had some problems and I wanted to discuss before staying there another night. There was pornography cartoons on the walls in the bathroom of thhe master suite that has an extra bed for children and my 15 year old daughter stayed with us. The night we stayed we kept getting attacked by all sorts of spiders and flying bugs and found a huge spiderweb behind one of the dressers and in the corner was 2 huge spiders and we buzzed for this lady several times 7pm 10pm 11pm 12pm because we were being attacked and bitten by spiders and other bugs that were crawling in the bed and when we first looked over the room there was no indication of a bug problem until the nighttime when all the bugs came out. We also found sewer roaches climbing all over the entrance to the house on steps she asked us to use and they were crawling up the walls outside of the house so it wasnt surprising that I found one on counter where she had snacks out for guests and on the floor of the dining room. It was obvious she does not spray for insects but it was beyond any normal amount of bugs to have even during monsoon season there is no excuse and I wanted to show and talk to her about the problem so she could take care of it but instead I had to contact health dept because she sent me this nasty email accusing us of being loud a d disturbing guests when she told us and we could see there were no other guests the night we stayed. Plus the loud noise was us screaming after finding bugs in the bed and we repeatedly called down for help to no avail because this woman either wasnt there or refused to come help when we kept buzzing for her at the doorbell she has at entrance to the basement where she lives. She asked to be paid in cash and I'm assuming she had no intention of returning our money which is why she wouldnt come upstairs when we rang for her many times during our stay. When I emailed her back I let her know I wanted a partial refund and I admit I was upset from her email and wasnt being nice anymore after what she said to me but I let her know I wou I'll d be in town 2 more days if she wanted to get ahold of me to return my money so I didnt have to take the issues up in court and report the problems further so she called the police on me and the very nice officer let me know to just not contact her anymore and suggested I report to the health department and make a police report myself and take her to court since she wont return the money . Then we got back home and I had fraudulent charges on the card i gave her for reservation for almost $1000 and we never got back the card we left or the pillows we asked for back that we brought so I wouldnt not recommend giving your bank acct info to this person cause I later found others also had fraud charges on their cards when we looked into other reviews of this place. I also highly suspect they have cameras hiding in the rooms because of the way it's set up with window in showers that have no curtains and the creepy guy she calls her webmaster who was looking at my 15 year old daughter and licking his lips as we were leaving , we reported that to police but not much they could do but I wouldnt suggest bringing any children here or around this place. We stayed here during last week of July 2018 for 1 night...

I've written only a handful of reviews in my life. I never imagined that during my trip to Jerome, that the highlight of the weekend would be both this lovely house and equally wonderful Andrea. Usually, we consider great customer service to be when someone is nice and pleasant, helps us as customers, and someone who goes out of their way to ensure our happiness. This definition pales in comparison to the atmosphere, love for people, and the welcoming nature that Andrea brings. From the moment my girlfriend and I arrived, we felt like we came home. At once, we were gently welcomed and were given an extensive tour of the beautiful property. Andrea opened up her home and showed us the true meaning of hospitality. The plethora of books to read complimented sitting outside in the gorgeous gardens. The silence that is not achievable in the city comes easily here. I woke in the morning to find that coffee had already been made. After a couple of cups, Andrea announced that breakfast was ready for everyone. This was no simple breakfast. Decadent and wondrous. From the delightfully rich eggs and sausage, to the braised cauliflower and mushrooms, to the fresh coconut/pineapple juice. I was in heaven. It's not every day that you can feel this pampered. My only regret is that I could not stay longer. But rest assured, I will come back to stay at the Surgeon's House, and enjoy Andrea's amazing company. This place is truly one of a kind and you would be doing yourself a disservice by not...

My wife has been wanting to stay at The Surgeon's House for years, and this time we planned it out for her birthday. We were not disappointed! On the contrary, Andrea's wonderful home exceeded our already high expectations in every way. Check-in with Andrea was very welcoming; it was like being greeted by an old friend. Andrea gave us a quick tour of the house and then showed us to our rooms in the Master Suite. The tour gave us just enough information to know our way around, but not so much information that we lost out on exploring the grounds for ourselves. The Master Suite was very comfortable - large bed, sitting room, private balcony, full bath, all spotless but with plenty of charm. After settling in, we explored the remainder of the property, which was probably my favorite part of the whole trip. We checked out the kitchen (stocked with food and drinks, including beer and wine) and then made our way outside. The yard and gardens are beautiful, with plenty of spots to just sit and enjoy the scenery. After going into town for dinner, we returned to relax in our room and wound up spending hours talking with our housemates for the rest of the night. Breakfast the next morning was delicious - Andrea really puts out a great spread of food. We will definitely return, and I can't wait to see how much more the yard comes alive when everything...
