Lovely, peaceful, family run, historic motel in a perfect location near Joshua Tree National Park. My husband and I arrived and were greeted warmly by owner, who gave us tips on visiting the National Park, and also insights into the local area. The motel was built in 1953, and has a mid-century unique vibe, complete with original pool and some fun décor.
We soon discovered a back patio, full of fruit trees with ample sitting areas, and whimsically designed cacti arrangements and garden statues. The owner gave us a nighttime tour of his solar light displays, which lit up the patio with changing colors and sparkles. Throughout our stay, we felt very welcomed, with genuine, kind hospitality. It was apparent that the owners take great pride in their motel, and their community.
We felt very safe staying here, and appreciated the owner's dedication to visitors' safety and comfort. There are strict quiet time rules at night, and no parties are allowed. We enjoyed our visit so much, that we extended our stay for an additional day, so that we could enjoy the pool and patio prior to our flight back to the east coast. This is a wonderful, rare place, and we are so glad we stumbled onto it. We are looking forward...
Read moreWhen my bf and I found out that all reservable camp sites in Joshua Tree were taken for Thanksgiving weekend, we decided to get a motel room instead of counting on a walk-up site. Considering that night temps that weekend got down to the low 30s, I am SO grateful we couldn't camp (that was a crazy idea anyway). I did some searches for motels near the park and this place came up as the closest to the West Entrance. It had decent reviews and the price was reasonable ($50ish during a holiday weekend) so we booked a room. It was a fairly large room, with a king bed, decent-sized flat panel TV, a small fridge, love seat and coffee table. The decor was typically small motel-dreary but I'd seen worse (like, at the only other motel in JTree I've ever stayed at). It was pretty dang cold when we first got in but once we cranked up the wall heater unit, it got nice and toasty. It was quite loud, though, and I think we turned it off sometime in the middle of the night. The bathroom shower was a little weird to get in and out of but at least everything was in good working order. We stayed two nights and we thought it was a decent experience and wouldn't mind staying here again should...
Read moreGreat stay! South east corner of building - Best room in the place.! They gave us a discount which was nice. (Me and my wife ) Feb 11/2023. Parking was a little bit “odd” for our room in the back but we figured it out no problem. Clean, quiet, with many windows! Nice courtyard with a cool light show at night. Morning sunlight light came in through the window! Large Olympic pool! Cool! Would be nice if it was covered. I don’t know why some of these people write these nasty reviews. They are obviously biased and they were probably trying to break the rules. If I may offer some suggestions to the onsite owners: A. Try Less clutter around the courtyard and few less plant pots with dead plants. Traffic cones are “tacky” so why not just put a nice plant pot in place of the traffic cone? Too much clutter around the courtyard. An old vacuum? But I do like that it’s got a nice funky personal touch. (Ways better than any Motel 6.) Olympic size pool! You need to advertise the fact that you have a big pool.! Put the cover back on top of possible. This is a great little spot with lots...
