Before I get into the significant negatives, I'll touch on some points that I did appreciate. It was easy to navigate the hotel. All of the elevators were in good working order and the interior was attractively appointed. The staff was kind and were sometimes helpful. The complimentary morning breakfast was excellent! The rooms were well equipped and reasonably clean. Their shuttle driver, JC, was an absolute delight.
Issues: Despite the above, I was not impressed with this Hilton Experience. Especially having stayed at Hilton's in the past.
I must have had seriously bad luck because over the course of 3 days I had to go to the front desk four times to have my door keys reset in order to get in my own room. I didn't keep the keys next to anything magnetic... I was extra vigilant about that.
When I tried to reach the front desk from my room I wouldn't get through at least 50% of the time. It seems they are understaffed or need some additional training.
I needed to get to an appointment and while I prepared I tried the front desk multiple times so they could call a cab for me. Well, when I gave up and was ready to leave I went to the front desk and asked for a cab. The front desk person (I think the Manager) simply handed me an assortment of cards for local taxis and Uber drivers to call! I couldn't believe it.
I called down to ask if there was a place to change at their pool. After a pause, and some thought, the front desk person said she didn't know because she had never been in there!!
I was at the hotel on business and required a steady Internet connection... the free WiFi was decent, but when I tried to connect to the wired Internet (for what should be the most stable and reliable connection), I could never get the connection to work. In addition, no one knew how I could upgrade my WiFi to the faster version I mistakenly didn't choose the first time I signed in. In their defense, I don't believe there is a way... I tried many options they suggested along with what I found online from other frustrated guests... a foolish move at Hilton's end it seems.
I needed some clothes cleaned and when I asked at the Front Desk how I should do that, I was given clear instructions to bring it to the front desk with the paperwork completed. The turn around should be same day. I dropped it all off in the morning and wasn't told until early afternoon that their provider was not available. It seemed they didn't even know their hours or much about the service.
After I was told my clothes could not be cleaned, I was informed the were free washers I could use on the second floor. After some irritation at this turn of events I agreed that would be my best move. When I asked for detergent, I was told they didn't have any at the moment and that I would have to buy some down the street.
Sleep the first night was awful because I kept waking up due to hallway noise. Thereafter, the only time I slept well is when I used ear plugs. I also heard complaints from other guests about the startling thinness of the walls.
The Iron in my room looked like it was a poor condition second hand item (see the picture). Part of it was broken and I wasn't confident of its reliability.
When the room cleaning staff were cleaning rooms on my floor I could hear them regularly loudly asking each other questions across rooms. I was working hard on a deadline in my room and had their variation of a do not disturb sign on my door... that didn't seem to change their noise level.
The first time I used my bath, I found black hairs in there around the drain.
All in all, I wasn't impressed and would have to seriously consider my options before staying there again. I hope Hilton management sees this and...
Read moreI booked a one night stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Kalispell based on rate, location and hot breakfast. I arrived to a very helpful clerk to check me in and gave me some good info about town. My room was at the end of the hallway, low numbers, on the fourth floor. When I arrived the room, it appeared clean, large and toasty warm with the controls to turn down the temp on the wall. The furnishings were the old dark brown models that most Garden Inns have replaced with the lighter toned wood. The dark brown furnishings clearly showed decades of use. The carpet looked clean but my socks stuck with each step that did not give me a warm fuzzy. The sheets looked nice and clean. As I settled in, there was a low roar that reminded me of jet turbines on the test stand. I was able to drown the sound out with the TV but knew I would not be able to sleep with the dull roar. The clerk said it would stop soon so I waited another hour before asking for another room. During that hour, I found the source of the roar on the roof for a central fan to ventilate the bathrooms. In the stairwell the roar was louder and should be at the attention of maintenance. I also found, there were no hand towels or wash clothes in the bathroom, only shower towels. The new room was at the opposite in of the floor, and when I arrived it was propped open so I was not sure if someone else was already in the room. No one answered the knock so I entered slowly to find the bed was made but the chair cushion was flipped up and again no hand towels or wash cloths. I checked the balance of the room and decided to stay. The heat control in this room was on the unit at the window. I turned off the heat and checked the filters to see they had not been cleaned in a long while. I knocked off the bulk of the dust then washed them in the tub to get the balance of the dust out. It was late so I checked the bed sheets well and went to sleep. The room was quiet and good for sleeping. Breakfast was very good and check out was easy. The staff was very good but the hotel not so much. This hotel is not up to Hilton standards as I know them from 30 years of travel with 200+ hotel night per year. It is time for a full restoration to meet the...
Read moreHere’s a little bit about my recent stay at this Hilton location!
The location is convenient, situated in the heart of Kalispell with easy access to nearby attractions, restaurants, and shopping areas. Upon arrival, the check-in process was smooth and efficient, with friendly and welcoming staff. I was able to check in much earlier than scheduled (right around noon) which was a huge relief after a long morning of driving.
The room I stayed in was clean, well-maintained, and provided a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The bed was comfortable. The amenities in the room, including a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, added to the convenience of my stay.
The hotel's facilities were impressive. The fitness center had modern equipment, allowing me to maintain my workout routine during my stay. The decor was stunning. The elevators are wrapped in a beautiful panorama of the mountains. The on-site dining options were convenient, and the breakfast buffet offered a decent selection of tasty and fresh options to start the day. There was eggs, sausage, cereals, bagels, pastries, fresh coffee with all the fixings, and about six varieties of juice. For dinner, there’s an excellent, recently opened restaurant named “Freestone” that is absolutely exquisite. The manager was so nice and allowed me to bring a wine glass back up to my room so I could enjoy my bottle solo.
Throughout my stay, the hotel staff was courteous, attentive, and always ready to assist with any requests or inquiries. My keycard stopped working at some point, and the woman at the front desk made no hesitation to apologizing and providing me a new one lickety-split. I wish they answered the phone, thought. I found myself annoyed a couple times when I dialed the front desk for info and the phone just rang and rang.
In sum, this Hilton Hotel provided a comfortable and pleasant experience. With its convenient location, clean rooms, friendly staff, and good amenities, it offers a solid choice for travelers looking for a reliable and comfortable stay in the area. Recommended for solo travelers and couples. I would consider staying here again on future visits...
