So far my experience with 49 dollar Montana has been decent. I would maybe try someone else first before using them again, as I've read better stories with a competitor, but in their defense, they haven't necessarily done anything wrong. The customer service agents are generally nice and polite. I will update the rating and review as the process is completed based on any hopefully better service. I want to clarify, that this review is based on a problem that was not their fault, however does reflect the service provided in response. If you have no paperwork issues, I would expect things to go smoothly, but I would also expect that they are not as quick as advertised.
The marketing would leave you to believe that they are fast and very helpful, and I quote: "All Day $49 forms your LLC and walks your paperwork down the hall to VIP DMV for registration"
The documents they received on Monday were rejected after being reviewed on Wednesday for a Texas title not having the front signed. (Note, I called on Tuesday and they said there might be an issue, but they wouldn't know until it was processed. So this extended the process a day.) In Texas, only the back which has the seller and buyer names and signatures is required as it is the assignment of title. I will say, this is not their fault, and it is my ignorance on Montana handling of Texas titles that created this issue, but I felt the response from the registered agent service was not what I would expect from the advertised and paid for service.
I called the state of Montana motor vehicle division and they said as long as the rear assignment of title is assigned it would be up to the county, there is no state requirement. I then called back and spoke to someone at 49 dollar Montana and asked if they advertise that they have VIP in the building could they at least attempt to process it based on the information I received from the state before going through the process of sending the title back to me, having it sent to the seller, having it signed and then returning it and they would not even make the attempt. They claimed it was not worth the effort of trying if they thought it could be denied, and they would invoice overnight documents. "Not worth trying" were their words.
The invoice for the mailing would need to be paid prior to sending the documents, which still wasn't created 4 hours later, however, the service they used to overnight it made it in record time. I then had the package overnighted back with UPS and am waiting for further movement.
The day after the package arrived back to me, literally as I was checking out a title specialist called to follow up on this review, and offered to refund the first shipping back to me. They also offered to give me a pre-paid mailing label back, however I had already spent $118 on sending the package back. She did mention that some of the customer service reps are remote and sometimes they don't directly ask the title specialists, but that the policy is the front of the title needs to be signed even if Neither Texas or the Montana DOT requires it, their private title company requests it.
I still believe that If you are going to advertise white glove service and walking the paperwork down the hall, I would expect for an attempt to be made.
Pros: ⢠Always answered when calling during business hours. ⢠Roughly 2 days to file the LLC ⢠Polite Customer Service ⢠Saved Money ⢠They do seem to care about improving customer service, and responded fairly quickly to this review.
Cons: â˘They don't seem to have any options if things aren't perfect. â˘While the customer service is nice, It feels like they appear to not have the ability or desire to try anything that would be outside of the cookie cutter documentation process or to move things along. The impression that i get is the customer service is very detached from the actual service, and they do not have the ability to help as they probably would like. ⢠Still fairly expensive if for a sub...
Read moreIâve registered two vehicles with this company and both times were an absolute headache. I do not recommend registering your vehicles with this company. Go through MVD express or a different, more organized registered agent. 49 Dollar takes forever to actually address your concerns and itâs nearly impossible to reach someone over the phone or email.
I purchased their temporary plate option with my first vehicle in 2023 in order to be able to drive the car while I was waiting for the physical plates to get mailed. I got an email from the registered agent saying my temp plates were ready and that they just needed my mailing address to ship them out. I replied immediately that I already confirmed my mailing address at the time of ordering and via email. Nonetheless, I sent the same address to them again. It took them over 10 days from me confirming my address (which I already previously provided to them) to actually mail the temp plates. They were sitting in their office for over 10 days, which is unacceptable for a $600+ service.
On the next vehicle I registered with them, they shipped my plates and registration to the wrong address! I already had confirmation that the address on my account was updated during the last vehicle I registered. An employee emailed me to confirm. Imagine my surprise when they got mailed to an outdated address. I immediately informed the registered agent, and it took 10 days to get a real response that actually addressed my concern. Despite me providing a screenshot of the employee confirming my correct address, the registered agent wanted to charge me to get replacement plates mailed to the correct address. They blamed ME because they claimed that I never updated the address in the client portal. Why then did I get a email from an employee confirming that my address was added to my account? And why were plates sent with no confirmation of address if there were 2 addresses on my account? I cannot believe they would charge a client for their own mistake. I am appalled by the lack of professionalism and accountability displayed by this registered agent. Go elsewhere for your registered...
Read more49 dollar was recommended to me and I did not do my due diligence. I have property in Montana and have been waiting since September for my plates and title. I have called a number of times and told, the problem is with the State. Since I have read the reviews and seen that others have been scammed as well. I have contact the state concerning their practices and have yet to hear back on my complaint. . On my login I am told that my paper work has been filed and expect a 55 day wait, that was according my records 30 days ago. They were kind, but enough is enough now all calls go to voice mail.
Impatience is a sign of selfishness. I had written the above review from that perspective. The day after I had written this comment, my plates arrived. Mel from $49 has been trying to contact me to rectify my complaint of mis communication. All business is subject to its' "up and down stream" associates. Their delays become my delays and so on and so on. I have become accustom to the trappings of our "instant gratification" lifestyle, which promote selfishness and greed. I need to apologize to $49 for my short sighter behavior . I have left my original review in place so that others who read this will judge this company on merit and not on my personal character flaws. This company is still "top shelf" just as my broker recommended. I needed to learn how the effect of my words and childish behavior would affect so many downstream. Merry Christmas to all this...
