We very much enjoyed our stay at the Inn at English Meadows in Kennebunkport this past weekend, so much so that we did not want to leave! From the moment we pulled into the spacious parking lot and entered the quiet and beautifully decorated Inn to check in...we were transported from our busy lives to a space of quiet comfort that we delighted in immediately. There were hot cookies waiting for us and Carm, the Inn keeper was lovely, kind and hospitable. She walked us through the Inn, the courtyard where we had a very nicely portioned and very delicious two course breakfast, then to the wine bar which was also beautifully decorated with very comfy furniture and a fire place. The automatic wine bar was unlike anything I've seen and the vibe was both modern serve yourself style with free bags of chips and other goodies, hot beverages and an overall make yourself cozy feel. Our room was what another reviewer called tiny, but we loved everything about that. There was a hook and hanger for everything, a generous sized bathroom, and a very comfy and cozy queen bed. Having a short term rental myself, I very much appreciated the use of space and the convenience of having a place for everything and lacking nothing including top notch toiletries, towels, bed linens and blankets. We literally did not want to get out of bed in the morning. The location to town was perfect, just down the road if you wanted to walk and not so far that driving was a must, the wedding venue was a 5 minute drive and traffic was not a problem. Carm recommended several restaurants to us for lunch and dinner and Chez Rosa did not disappoint as well as the Batson River Brewing Co. which has amazing fish sandwiches and fries & clam chowder. Get the witches drink which was delicious! The gardens and fire pit at the Inn, were a nice addition to the courtyard as the fall evenings were cold and the fire welcoming. We enjoyed the service at breakfast in the mornings and Violet and Carm were gliding through greeting and serving the guests and sharing in conversation. Carm was super helpful when my husband & I were running late to a wedding and he had trouble helping me with my zipper. Carm was quick to come and lend a hand. She gave us her cell number in the event we needed anything at all. Everything and everyone was lovely. We will be back again...
Read moreWe stayed in Serenity, which was Heavenly. The room is very spacious, inviting, and the bedding was extremely comfortable. Every amenity was provided with a few extra touches here and there. The room is spacious and is located upstairs so there is no one above you, which is a plus when it comes to most bed and breakfast inns. The room is located in a quite hall with just one other room near by.|There are lots of areas throughout the Inn with comfortable seating areas and places to just sit and relax. There were cookies set out with hot teas and coffee. There is also a wine machine which does have additional charges. We ordered the brie to be delivered to our room which I would highly recommend! It was so good and perfect after a day out enjoying Kennebunkport.|The breakfast came in two courses first with fruit salad with mint and the second two pieces of French toast with sausage. Plan on taking a little time for breakfast. If you come down right at breakfast time, there was a pretty big group, and you have to wait a bit. I did notice another couple came down later and were taken care of pretty quickly. Tables are set up individually and family style. |Just a few notes – The floors do creak quiet a bit but is expected with wood floors and we weren’t quite sure if we were above another room, so we tried to be respectful not only to each other but to those possibly below. Also to get to the room, you are navigating through a few small hallways and a set of steep stairs, which was not an issue for us but might be for others. Also although very good the breakfast is not very hearty for most men, both men at our table mentioned going to get something for breakfast afterwards.|I would definitely recommend and would love staying at The Inn at English Meadows...
Read moreMy wife and I travel fairly frequently, and we have often used the "Select Registry" website (and printed annual guidebook before the internet) as our guiding light over the past thirty years. Thankfully, that's how we discovered the wonderful Inn at English Meadows. Our 7 day -- 6 night stay was absolutely perfect in every possible way, and we are already looking forward to our next visit. ||The inn itself is delightful, and our "Tranquility Suite" on the second floor of the Carriage House was simply sublime. Both the inn's indoor and outdoor public spaces are beautiful, and the location is ideal, ..... walking distance to Kennebunkport's Dock Square with all its great restaurants, shops, galleries, and "tourist attractions."||Every one of our six breakfasts was yummy delicious, with each of the two courses perfectly prepared and with terrific day to day variety. The "pay as you drink" wine cruvinet in the lobby was an added bonus, with a very nice selection of four reds and four whites to satisfy our palates. The special food and wine pairing dinner was incredible, as Chef Kathy and Sommelier Betsy were at the top of their games.||And to top it all off was the professionalism and high standards of the inn's staff. Diane, the inn's owner, was a delight to deal with as we planned our visit and secured our restaurant reservations, --- Violet and the kitchen crew served us so very well each morning with friendship and smiles --- Carmen, the on-site innkeeper was absolutely amazing in every possible way, doing her job with the highest level of tender loving care and making us feel so very comfortably like family. ||So, the bottom line .... do we recommend the Inn at English Meadows ? |Yes indeed ! ...
