The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. The pool was very lovely, and the landscaping is very well maintained. Overall I’d describe our stay as good, which was not what I expected to be saying.
Rooms- our room was a junior suite in May’s Annex. It was a large room, with a beautiful bathroom and fireplace. Unfortunately, the room did not feel very private. It was also very noisy. You can hear the traffic going by while you’re laying in bed. Additionally, the walls are thin and you can hear the guests above you walking around if you stay on the first floor. We could also hear every time the toilet flushed in the room above us. The beds are beautiful but old and very squeaky.
The valet team was excellent, and super helpful. We borrowed the Maybach and drove into town, which was a total treat. We really enjoyed this.
Service- we arrived to the property about 2:30pm, and check in was at 4. It was raining out, so we went straight to the property to see if the room was ready early. When I enquired about how much longer it would be before the room was ready (so we could gauge if we wanted to go down into town or get some work done in the living room area) we were met with a very curt and rude reminder that check in was at 4pm and they couldn’t provide any other information. Fine, understood- it was a holiday weekend so things were likely very busy. Within 5 minutes of us leaving the property, we were texted that the room was ready. It seems like this is something that could’ve been communicated while I was at the desk. We requested a late check out, the day before departure and were assured they could accommodate a noon check out. My husband had a work call he needed to be on video for, so we were grateful for the late check out. At 11:30 the property called our room to help with the luggage, and tried to hurry us along.
We scheduled a spa appointment for 1pm on the day after we arrived. We woke up that morning to sunshine, so I asked the desk if it would be possible to push our spa appointments back or move them to the following morning. Again, we were met with a curt response stating that we were within 24 hours and therefore their policy is that we cannot make any changes. I understand policies, but someone has got to assist this team with delivering a message. We left the appointment for a couples massage at the scheduled time. The technicians gave great massages, but I was a little thrown off by the masseuse moving straight from massaging my feet, to massaging my face without washing her hands in between. She may have sanitized, but I didn’t hear that and at the end of the session she washed her hands at the adjacent sink.
Dinner in the barn was beautiful. We really enjoyed the setting and the live piano. I had the chefs blind tasting with a wine pairing, and my husband had the lobster tasting with wine pairing. Mine was excellent, but most of my husbands was mediocre. Some good dishes, some bland, one the lobster was overcooked. It also took nearly 30 minutes for him to get a woodford on the rocks. I don’t think the meal was worth the $1100 price tag for 2 people. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed. Someone would deliver a new wine glass and our waiter would clear it and then be confused when delivering the next wine to pour. Again- it was Memorial Day, so a holiday weekend. They may have been short handed.
The pool area was very pretty, and the complimentary popsicles were delicious!
Overall there were definitely positives about the resort, however the service level did not match the price. Hopefully, they’re just working out some kinks since it’s early in the...
Read moreMy daughter surprised me with a week away here back in March, which I know is not ideal in terms of weather. It was very rainy, which made enjoying the surrounding area challenging. That being said, this property offers a lot of "nice" small things, but it doesn't have the major amenities that one expects or needs in order to make sense of the cost. Upon arrival, I found a long brown hair in my welcome pastry - so things started off a little weird. Breakfast portions are expensive and VERY small; my "omelette" was no larger than a child's tea-cup plate. We made plans elsewhere for our remaining days. There were no closed captions on my television, despite asking staff for assistance - the technology was just too old and they couldn't accommodate it (not great for us older folks). The welcome basket was thoughtful, in addition to offering me an umbrella for a morning walk. I appreciated the fresh spring water the inn supplied. They also have bicycles that you can take out, and evening s'mores by the fire if weather permits. There is no hot tub or gym, so please keep that in mind if those things are important to you. The outdoor pool is only open in summer. I ended up getting a massage on my first day, by a female masseuse short in stature who was relatively new. This was a painful experience for me, despite my telling her which areas to avoid. I felt her anxiety and inexperience; she also wouldn't stop talking, which is fine but I couldn't relax after a 10 hour flight. I tried another massage the next day and received a lovely massage from a tall female masseuse who was friendly and warm; she seemed experienced and was respectful of my pain areas. Our facials were fine, but didn't feel a good value. I thought it weird that adding a scented oil cost extra in an already $300+ massage. We had the remainder of our massages/services at the Cottage Breeze Spa in town and they were wonderful. Lastly, the beds in room 1 and 2 need to be replaced in addition to the flour sack pillows - they are heavy and they hurt. The fact that there are no other pillow offerings instead of down is surprising due to people with allergies. I didn't sleep the entire week I was there. My bed was lumpy, bouncy, and horrible. My daughter's was also awful. All that being said, the staff are very pleasant; we enjoyed everyone who introduced themselves to us. Overall, our stay was okay - but this place needs a lot of work in terms of replacing beds, hiring new spa staff, meal portions, and possibly expanding or adding to the property to make dreary days more warm and welcoming. There was also a mysterious charge on my daughter's card the day after we left; they removed it, but apparently someone gave them the room number and her card hadn't been taken out of the system yet (yikes). Fixing these small things could make this...

I recently had the pleasure of spending my second wonderful stay at the White Barn Inn, Auberge Resorts Collection in Kennebunkport with my partner, Cam. We decided to add a few leisure days before a work meeting, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences we've ever had.
From the moment we booked, the exceptional service began. Victoria and Kim from the concierge team reached out pre-arrival to help us book massages. Kim even coordinated a surprise bottle of Champagne for Cam just 30 minutes before our arrival—all over email! Their attention to detail made us feel special even before we set foot on the property.
Upon arrival, Caleb and Becca at the front desk greeted us with warm smiles and were always friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They even went the extra mile to bring me coffee in the living room every morning during my early pre-sunrise reading sessions.
Chris and Noah from the valet team were fantastic. They were incredibly accommodating to Cam, who is a car enthusiast, ensuring he got to drive all the cool Mercedes loaner cars. They also provided us with a ride to an offsite event one evening, which was greatly appreciated.
Our evenings were often spent at the bar, where Brooke, the bartender, made incredible cocktails and had a great vibe and energy. We loved chatting with her and dropped by for drinks two nights in a row. Emma provided amazing service when we dined at the White Barn restaurant and even stopped by to say hi when we were at the bar a few nights later.
Poolside, Brittnae was outstanding. She was super friendly and attentive, always greeting us by name and seeming to intuitively know the exact right time to check if we needed anything. The beautiful heated pool and the serene property provided the perfect setting for relaxation, and the outdoor fire pit in the evenings added a cozy touch to our stay.
We also appreciated the walkability to town, which allowed us to explore Kennebunkport with ease.
We had massages on our first day, and though we were too relaxed to remember the therapists' names, both Cam and I agreed it was among the top 10 deep tissue massages we've ever had.
The amenities were top-notch, and the access to the loaner Mercedes cars was especially fun for Cam. The entire staff made our stay unforgettable. We can't recommend the White Barn Inn highly enough and look forward to...
