Ok this is to long, I'll leave it up in case you find yourself tempted to read but I don't want travelers to pay for my need to vent because I failed to share base problems with staying here. 1) Hotel is grungy except lobby, which seems inviting at first. 2) whole hotel has a smell that matches the grumpiness of the rest of the hotel.3) pool is scary dirty, a deep layer of dirt 4) breakfast is always the same stuff but not always cooked properly, runny eggs, sausage undermine.5)most hotel staff leaves at 3pm. 6)management is horrible both desk and general management, and owner is just as ignorant as to acceptable behavior. They don't know how to correctly run charges thus over charging us by $180, 1/2 has been refunded so far. They also believe it's acceptable to detain and request police help via 911 upon guest refusing to provide a copy of ID after checking out and they assessed a cleaning fee for our kitchenette suite within literally moments of our checking out, we had been their 8 days, living and cooking there, without them getting around to cleaning it, still it wasn't bad at all, dishes needed to be run and a little bit of debris needed to be picked up, I'll leave pictures if option. Anyways they accosted us at our car for the ID's, which they are not entitled to copies of, especially After checking out and reported to the police that we skipped out on our bill, after a very uncomfortable conversation with the police who were under the impression we had not paid and being treated like criminals they called back stating they had gotten staff and owner to admit that yes we had paid, but we didn't pay the cleaning fee that they had assessed basically the minute we checked out. The police let us know we were good with them, no need to TURN ourselves in, and the police officer also told them their behaviour was suspect and the cleaning fee was basically bogus. I will never enter another property owned or partnered with The RLH hospitality corporation as long as this hotel is allowed to bear the Red Lion name, this is not how you treat paying guest especially for a $1000 stay. I am looking into how to deprive them of as much of that as is possible, as the experience they provided my family resembles a cash by the hour no tell motel type establishment (Dirty!)
I was subject to one of the worst discrimination incidents I've ever encountered, in which the manager and one young employee became abusive, emotionally and verbally. I couldn't comprehend the amount of trauma I was experiencing until the realization came that these two woman, the manager and her young employee, worked in tandem to undermine and psychology wound and deprive me of participating in discussing and solving an immediate issue with our stay, a stay that had, as usual, been set up by me from start to finish. Yet because of a safeguard we implement due to my disability these women, ridiculed, threatened and became downright abusive at the end. It can not be allowed to pass without being answered for, they should be ashamed of abusing the power they held in their position as well as the outright abuse this woman subjected me too, a manager who should never have been put in that position without the proper training or temperment, she was in a position to do someone great harm without the knowledge and tools to help her navigate her own prejudices and understand the consequence of her actions and with no clear grasp of what her responsibilities are to the company or the customer. The damage she has inflicted upon me and my family is breathtaking and is liable to be more painful tomorrow as I don't see her changing or learning overnight what she has set into motion, indeed she was bent, and acknowledged vocally that she was trying to inflict damage as she proceeded to yell during her abusive tirade. I don't know who to contact to prevent more but you can bet your life I will not let this be where it ends. No one in a position of power should have the freedom to demoralize and punish the ones they claim power over without consequences falling...
Read moreWe arrived to check into the hotel and couldn’t help but to notice the transient people coming from out of the bushes behind the parking lot. We walked into the building to find the front desk staff in a conversation amongst themselves. Neither of them greeted us as we stood there for the first 2 minutes waiting to be helped. After about 5 minutes of neither of them acknowledging our presence, I interrupted their conversation asking if we could be helped as I explain to the “ladies” that my special needs daughter and her service animal needed my attention, so if we could begin the check in process immediately, I would greatly appreciate it. I received a deep sigh and a roll of the eyes instead of a response. The woman who did that moved over to her computer and asked for my driver’s license to begin the check in process. She was obviously annoyed that I had interrupted her conversation. As we entered our room we passed a woman who appeared to be on drugs of some sort in the hallway without a mask. We proceeded to enter what we thought was a cool escape from the 90 degree weather outside only to discover that on the coolest setting, the air conditioning only cooled the room to 75 degrees. The hallway outside of our room was cooler than our room was. After getting settled into the room, I attempted to close the sheer curtain in the room and discovered it was torn which explained why it was left open to begin with. Upon our booking process online, we requested a roll away bed for our daughter which at this point I was informed by the front desk that it was non existent. As We left for dinner, we discussed taking advantage of the pool since it had been such a hot day. We arrived back to the hotel from dinner to find the police and K-9 units surrounding the hotel. We got the ok to go to our to our rooms and passed the INDOOR pool and witnessed a couple drying off. The man had a cigarette in his mouth. THIS WAS AN INDOOR POOL!!! The room we booked did have a jetted tub in it so we decided to let our daughter play around in that instead. While we were out, we picked up some bottle waters and attempted to put them into the fridge. The refrigerator was as warm as it was in our room. It did not work. I proceeded to make the best of this situation because we were so tired from our long trip. I went ahead and began filling the tub for my special needs daughter to play in. I went to push the button to turn the jets on and my finger sank into a small puddle of smelly liquid of some sort only to discover that the jets did not work. I was immediately sickened by whatever I just put my finger in. At this point I called the front desk to notify them. The same woman who checked us in told us that she would have us moved to a different room in the morning. We agreed that would be fine because she had no other options for us at that time. I proceeded to iron my fiancé’s clothes for his orientation the next day and discovered that the ironing board had blood splattered on it. I WAS SO DISGUSTED!!! I did not even feel safe sleeping under the sheets so we ended up laying our own comforter down to protect us from whatever was on the bed because at that point I didn’t even trust that the bedding was clean. The next morning I went to take my daughter’s service animal to go potty, I walked out of the side door only to find 2 homeless women helping each other smoke drugs off of foil of some sort. Our service animal barked at them 2 times which resulted in me being verbally attacked by both drug addicted woman. I reported this to the front desk (same woman who checked us in) and she said there was nothing she could do because the had since left the property. At that time, my fiancé refused to stay another night in that horrible hotel so we checked out and went to the Federal Way Red Lion which was so much better. I would not recommend the Red Lion Inn & Suits in Kent to my worst enemy. Do NOT stay here unless you want the same...
Read moreMade reservations for Sep 23, 2023 - Sep 24, 2023 for two Executive Queen Suites. ISSUE #1 Arrived at the hotel and was told I needed to provide $100 damage deposit that wasn't listed anywhere before. Granted it'll be returned upon check out, but come on at least give a guy a heads up. However, upon checkout I had to ask for my cash deposit back. That speaks to me that had I not said anything about getting it back I wouldn't have gotten it. That's not good considering a whole host of issues. ISSUE #2 Neither of the rooms have a pull out couch as listed on the site. That was the reason we reserved rooms with this hotel because of the size of our group. The front desk person offered extra blankets but come on I want paying that kind of price for an extra blanket when I was expecting at least three beds. Not acceptable. There's no roll away bed or couches available either to remedy the situation. Really disappointed in the accommodations and lack of communication. So we get to the rooms that weren't available when we arrived as they were being cleaned. Not only was there no couch but no chairs to sit in the room. (They did find a bed however it was falling apart for one if the two rooms)The furnishings were not up to par, drawers wouldn't stay closed on dressers. There were torn screens, toilet paper holder coming out of the wall, toilet seat was loose, no running cold water but all hot and a musty smell. The following morning the breakfast was a choice of two cold cereals, waffle, instant oatmeal, Sunny D, coffee/tea and a community pitcher of milk ... seriously? Not what was expected for the price point. To expect one thing and arrive to get another, and still pay what we were charged leaves us with a bad image of the Red Lion and will probably be our last time staying with Red Lion. I asked what was going on and was told the information was supposed to be changed on the website. While that's great and would have given us the information to go somewhere else with what we needed, it didn't help us this past weekend. Two guests of our party slept on the floor. Had we known that was going to be the case we could have gone tent camping for way cheaper and better accomadations. We had been here before about 4 years ago for a similar event so we thought we knew what to expect, I simply can't believe Red Lion has gone that low. I get it maybe new management team, making changes, but you don't charge what you charge without warming. It's like building a plane while you're flying. (There will probably be a response apologizing along with a thanks and promise to improve and hoping we come back another time, that's nice, but doesn't remedy our situation. We won't be back and we hope the promise to improve helps others who take the pictures and information on the site for face value only to arrive and it's anything but what is...
