I was out Christmas shopping at the Victorian country Christmas Festival in Puyallup when I decided I wanted to eat steak before I went home.
I looked on Yelp and Google for a steakhouse. And this is one of the places that came up. I looked at the pictures and everything looked delicious! Event started reading the reviews and they were all great reviews. I decided to try it out based on views and the review of a fellow Elite yelper.
This place is a little hole in the wall Mexican eatery with a small menu that is packed with flavor. It is behind a taco place. Don't confuse the ine in the front for this one. Lol This place doesn't have greatest decoration ever, or even look the fanciest ,but it is cozy. When you walk in, the waitresses are super friendly and ready to help. It has simple, yet cozy tables and chairs, with the wall filled with reviews. Don't let the simple decor turn you away. It's well worth it.
We decided to try a few things. First thing that we tried was the Taco Toreados! You can choose flour or corn tortilla. And then they add a delicious anaheim pepper with cheese and the amazingly tender and flavorful meat. I took a bite of this by itself and the pepper with the cheese and meat blended together beautifully. The pepper had just the right amount of mild heat that blended well with the cheese and seasoned the meat even more. I then added the pico de gallo from the little condiment cart, which just made it even better! The portion was big! 2 of them and I could definitely be full. Definitely try this dish!
I then got the 1 pound carne asada steak!! Omg!!! Talk about tons of flavor! They bring it to you on a big wooden platter which looks amazing in it's own right. You have the steak, a little portion of beans, some of their hot sauce, delicious grilled cactus, a chorizo sausage and some tortillas. They use 100% certified Angus steak; which makes everything sooo good. The steak was well cooked and seasoned perfectly! I took some of the grilled cactus with the steak and some Pico de gallo and put it in the tortilla!! Sooooo good!! The chorizo sausage was perfect. The beans were very good and the suace for the steak is exactly what it needed for spice. This dish was like a delicious meat heaven. Lol
We also tried the Carne Asada Torta. It was the carne asada steak with grilled pepper, refried beans and cheese on bread.( My girl hates refried beans)but loved this one! This was by far the best sandwhich I've had in such a long time! The flavor in the sandwhich was just perfect!! I wanted to buy another take it home!
The service was phenomenal. The waitresses are super friendly, not pushy and genuinely happy. I will definitely be back to this place to eat more food and enjoy the amazing flavors they provide. If you want really good food with amazing service, this is the...
Read more❗Celiac Disease? This is a must read❗
I've eaten here a number of times and communicated each time that I can't have gluten (Celiac Disease - CD). Lately, I've been trying a new strategy when I'm out to say I have a wheat allergy. Not perfect because it's NOT medically accurate. But wheat allergy is more understandable to most folks, and (most) folks have an understanding that cross-contaminating allergen with non-allergen foods is a huge problem (and cross-contaminating for CD is similarly bad).
So today, I told our waitress that I have a wheat allergy and that the station used for my food and gloves on the hands of the worker need to be clean. Our food seemed to be taking the tiniest bit longer to come out. But no biggie. They were extremely busy, and I wasn't in a hurry. The next time the waitress comes to the table, she has no food and a worried face. Turns out she was scanning ingredients lists and checking in with the cooks to ensure what I ordered was actually safe. 🤩
She must've known about CD because I never once uttered the word gluten, but she did multiple times. 💯 She said the carne asada entrée I chose is pre-marinated in soy sauce, but the appetizer is safe, so we worked out a different plan for my entrée. Hubby and I finish our appetizer (we split the Prime Ensalada), and the main dishes come out. She sets everything down, takes a look at the nopal, and says "don't eat that yet!" She goes to talk to the cooks and returns to say they also seasoned the nopal with soy sauce. Then she says, "Do you also need new chorizo because it was touching this (the nopal)?" In fact, yes. 😃🥳 She returns with new chorizo and there's nopal as well. I ask, confused, "is this safe?" She reported the cooks said the nopal isn't pre-marinated, so she just told them "salt and pepper only." She also confirmed the chorizo packaging said gluten free. She walks away and hubby and I are already talking about how she's gonna get a massive tip. 🫡🙇
We finished up, she brought the check, and she had a worried face again. She apologized for all of the waiting and thanked us for being patient. I told her that because of her, I learned I'd been eating contaminated food EVERY other time I've come, despite explaining my situation every time. I am simply SO grateful for her help! ⚠️🚨Pro tip alert⚠️🚨 She said, "Things can get lost in translation. The trick is to say 'no seasoning, no soy sauce, just salt and pepper.'"
The most attentive and cautious waitress 💥E. V. E. R.💥 I wish I could've comfortably given more than the 30% tip we added (cuz I know with credit cards, they don't get that whole tip after taxes are taken out, and I'm sure she splits with the cooks as well). But I hope we made it ✨abundantly✨ clear how...
Read moreI LOVE THIS PLACE.
So let me start by saying Mexican food is not my favorite. There are a few things I like but usually when we go to a mexican restaurant I feel that the food is super greasy and I usually am paying for mainly chips, salsa, rice and beans. If I can pick any other type of food, I usually do. Well, I have found that Asadero Sinaloa has changed my mind. This is not you neighborhood mexican restaurant, it is a Steakhouse that happens to be in a Mexican restaurant.
I suggest placing yourself on the waitlist prior to arriving since they are busy and because of social distancing, they can only have so many people in at a time.
Erica was our waitress and she was as terrific. She was friendly, helpful when we asked questions. In fact, as soon as she took our drink order and walked away I found a different drink that I wanted. My husband when over to her and pointed to the menu and told her I changed my mind. She had no problem taking care of that for us. She checked on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed and was happy to assist us.
As for the food...Holy Moly Batman, it was fantastic. The one Mexican food that ai do like is Carne Asada. When it came out it was HUGE. 16 oz. It was tender and delicious. My husband and I shared this and we still took home leftovers. It came with a sausage (chorizo) that my husband really liked. It also came with a small cup of whole beans that were mighty tasty (and I don't like beans). It also came with a grilled cactus leaf. It was actually pretty good. As side my husband wanted the baked potato with cheese and bacon that was huge. And I wanted the grandmother rice. We wound up splitting both of them. As a starter we had the beef marrow bone. We had never had it before but all the reviews said to try it. It was really good. It wasn't my husband's favorite and considering I hate fat it was delicious. I put a few slivers of the pickled red onions on it from the salsa plate and it definately added a whole new level.
There are just a few things that I would address. Everything here is ala cart. So it can get spendy real quick. Also, when you come, ask for a table against the wall. The tables in the center of the room are very uncomfortable, especially for my husband and I who both have back and leg issues. By the time we left I was in a lot of pain. Besides that, everything else was too notch.
My husband and I have already decided we would be back and have already started planning...
