Disclaimer: None of my comments refer to an individual or personnel (employee or staff). The review is purely for the property and the company/brand. We understand people who work here are putting in best efforts to a good job. However, the company that they are working for has lost its brand and taking guests for a ride (metaphorically). ||We thought we are getting a bang for the buck when we selected the Holiday Inn Vacation Club getaway deal which will host us in a holiday inn property for at least 3 nights (make your reservation for a discounted rate) and then attend a 2hr tour of a Holiday inn resort property after which you get a refund of about $250, almost what you paid originally.||First, we were put up at this, probably the worst Holiday inn property I have been (I have travelled to remote parts in the country and yet I found some Motel 6s and Super 8s better than this property). I have no idea why a rate of $75/night is the discounted value. It is just not worth it. We could not get the king size bed we asked for and the room was much smaller than expected. Do not even ask about view -- there is none. The breakfast costs you $17 bucks ($15 if you pre-pay at the desk) -- definitely the worst breakfast we have had. I have no idea why everything seems to be overpriced and oversold. Never stay at this hotel -- your car even if broken down may be a better option or there are a tonne of motels and decent hotels that don't overcharge you like this right across and within a 2 mile radius. In fact, if not for the getaway deal we may have just moved to another (non Holiday inn) property nearby. ||Second, the getaway deal with Holiday inn vacation club. Never fall for these deais. I can only speak for Holiday inn based on our experience but in general it seems that the service industry is just not respectful of whom they serve -- of course, unless you are a VIP and pay the top $$. Because we checked in late they also cancelled our tour and never cared to inform us about the same. The hotel personnel also did not let us know and the personnel at the customer care acknowledged the hotel should have informed the vacation club office that we checked in and the tour can be reinstated. Upon 2 hours of dwelling in the phone call on the day of the tour when we are told ours is cancelled and that we have to deal with it calling customer care, we are being blamed for not informing them and that it is our fault that we were late to check in and hence things will automatically cancel. Instead of helping us with options we are being told there will be tours only next day which will force us to change our travel plans, thus. No one on the call (I spoke to 3 different agents) was ready to provide any solution instead kept repeating that it is our (guests) fault. When I asked to speak to the manager, they just forwarded it to the next agent and will never let me talk to a manager person. Never experienced this type of bad customer care. I have all the respect for people who work in customer care, but it seems that Holiday Inn does not care for the guests anymore. ||I am sure this may have been a one-off experience and many others may have had good experiences at holiday inn. This is purely our personal review of our experience and our decision not to pursue holiday inn anymore. People who make decisions after checking out reviews, hopefully, this comes across to you and helps you make an informed decision.||NEVER HOLIDAY INN AGAIN! Be it for LEISURE or BUSINESS....
Read moreI recently lodged at this location from February 27 to March 2nd. I booked through Holiday inn cooperate office on the phone. The representative, Elvia was great. Personable and efficient. Before ending the call, all fees, taxes and additional pricing was discussed and agreed. She even text me as well as email with itinary and confirmation When I checked in. JONATHAN at the site location said I had to pay an additional 31.78 per.day for resort fee and online booking. I said. No, I didn't book on line and all fees have been paid. I gave him the cooperate number, the customer service representive name, date, time of call.. everything he needed to verify. You think he did..No. he told me I had to call again and if I didn't pay the additional fees I would loose my reservation and of course my money since it was day of check in. I was furious! I paid the additional fees and the 100 dollars hold fee for incidentals. I get to my room, the air nor the fridge is working. I call the front desk and asks me if I wanted him to walk me through trouble shooting or maintenance to come up! I said, not my job, send maintenance. The guy plays with the fridge and thermostat and says it's okay. I survey the room..not impressed at all. The holiday inn in Davenport on hotel drive, where I usually stay is much, much nicer and the rooms feel fresh. So, I leave for my event. The parking is horrible! The hotel parking is poorly lit, trash and unclean The shrubery has old coolers, personal items..oh my it looked as though homeless people were living in the parking lot. To dark and unsafe. I go back to my room, air still not working, fridge not working. I call the desk again. A different guy comes and immediately changes the thermostat and replaced the fridge. I'm fuming now. I call cooperate and speak with Gonzalvo. He offer full cancelation with no penalty right then, but states my other compensation would take 5 to 7 business days. Hold up, this is Thursday! Make your statement Make sense. I can get all my money back if I cancel, but to refund my compensation, his words, it would take 5 to 7 business days. I said, there is so much happening in this area there are no other availability or I would have stayed in Davenport. I advised him nothing personal but I would be filing acomplaint, posting my experience. DO NOT STAY AT THIS LOCATION. The staff, especially Jonathan is dismissive and smug. The rooms are average at best, parking dark, unsafe and not suitable to accomadate the hotel. It is by far, the worst Holiday inn I have ever stayed in. They take advantage of you because they are directly across the street from Disney Old Town. Don't be fooled. Make the drive. I want every cent I placed on my Visa returned. This was the worst trip ever. My anxiety was in overload the entire time. Holiday inn, do better with this location, your reputation and brand are on the line. Not worth the hassle.. dirty, dingy, dark, poorly lit parking, unsafe. The room itself, nothing to brag about. I used an entire can of lysol to rid the old smell. Please trust me, stay anywhere else but...
Read moreWe used booking.com to secure our reservation. This hotel is centrally located. If you're going to Disney, Universal, visiting family, or going to the Mecum Auto Auction, as we were, it's a solid choice. The lobby was bustling when we arrived on a Friday night about 10 pm. The room on the second floor was as quiet as could be. The room is slightly dated. They still have carpet in the room. Alot of updated hotels have moved to LVP flooring. Our room had two queen beds. The air conditioning unit underneath the window was loud. We just had to turn it off to sleep. The room has all the amenities one would need, including small refrigerator, microwave oven, keurig coffee machine with coffee and tea pods, hairdryer, and dispensers at sink and in bathtub with Dove products. The bathroom was spacious, but there isn't a separate toilet and shower area from the vanity. The room appeared to be clean and orderly. There was a small balcony with two chairs, although we didn't go outside. It overlooked the parking area in the rear of the property and it was raining.
The hotel offered a very nice large pool and a small workout room, neither of which we had time for because we were headed to the Mecum auction for the day. As far as proximity to the auction, there was still about a 1/2 hour drive to get there using toll roads, but probably would have been longer if we had used 192 with lights at major intersections.
The hotel has a very nice breakfast buffet with lots of options, including make your own yogurt parfait, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, two kinds of sausage, bacon, pancakes, grits, oatmeal, several cereals, several danish and croissant options, toast and bagels, as well as coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and juice. As of January 2025, the price was $16.99, but due to the room/rate we stayed in, breakfast was included. Saved us time getting to the auction.
Although we didn't make use of the Disney parks, this is designated as a Good Neighbor hotel and has shuttle service to the theme parks. That may be of use to some. I thought the only Good Neighbor hotels were down the street from Disney Springs.
We would stay here again. It was easily accessible and had what we needed for...
