Where do I even begin…upon arrival, my family and I were escorted to our seats and our drink order was taken, some is us took out seats and waited as others went on to get their food. When I decided to go get my food, the second I stepped closer to the food court area…I immediately noticed how slippery the floors were surrounding each food station! I even told my younger son…who decided to walk with me carefully for fear of falling himself! Unfortunately, my niece wasn’t so lucky…she slipped and fell injuring her knee badly, letting out a horrific scream from excruciating pain! While we tended to her and waited for emergency services to arrive, which we had to call ourselves because no employee/ staff would…they just stood around watching everything unfold. I had to ask our waitress for ice to apply to my nieces knee, which she did. Now, here’s the reason for the one star review, if I had an option for zero stars it would be so! As we waited, and were answering and explaining the situation to the first officer who arrived on the scene, even the officer acknowledged how slippery the floor was, and was even telling the others to be careful. I was called to the side by our waitress who proceeded to ask me about paying the bill! I told her respectfully, that can wait…the situation and condition of my niece is more important! She stepped away and I assisted my sister further in helping out! My niece was taken to the hospital for her injury, which left us all in a worried and upset, needless to say! But to add insult to injury, after checking on my own children’s well being, I turned around to the sight of the waitress pushing the issue of payment on my sister! So I walked over carefully to them, and reminded her of what I said…and she then acted like she couldn’t understand me or speak English! WTH My sister proceeded to hand her credit card to pay the bill, but was justifiably upset and distraught by what just played out and her concern for her daughter! I was informed by my daughter that she just watched the staff at the register quickly go to the security cameras and were viewing the recording of her falling…but when they noticed her watching, while we were being pretty much harassed about the bill, they clicked on something after they spoke to each other and tried to block the screen view from her. Which is why she told me…and I walked over to them asking to view the footage of her fall! I was immediately met with, their stares and then them acting like they couldn’t comprehend what I was saying, I even asked if the lady standing in front of the computer, hand on the mouse, was the manager…to which she said yes to! But, hesitated to give me her name, I asked if I could go behind the counter and view the recording, which I only received the gesture, permitting me to do so! To NO SURPRISE…they made a point in saying that the camera wasn’t working on that one specific area…it just mysteriously stopped working all together! After numerous attempts and now demanding I speak to the actual manager, I gathered the pertinent information I needed, only to find out that while I was dealing with that issue, my sister was demanding that the waitress she just handed her payment to, refund her the TIP MONEY, this waitress took upon herself to illegally add to her bill…my sister did not give consent or even write down an amount on the original receipt! To which, the waitress reluctantly refunded, like WTH! Once we left, after we gathered all the necessary details and information, for legal reasons. We found reviews for this place, and discovered that there have been numerous events, of customers slipping and falling, and many who have had the same unauthorized tip charge applied to their bill…or the tip amount increased significantly from the original amount consented to!! Just like our experience, when they were confronted and asked to speak to a manager, they all acted like they didn’t understand or spoke English! This place needs to be investigated internally for fraudulent activity, and shut down for...
Read moreHokkaido is an all you can eat Chinese and Japanese Buffet. This location is across from Funspot in Old Town Kissimmee but they also have their original location on S Apopka Vineland Rd in Orlando. We came over from the Orlando Japanese festival where lines were long, food was expensive, and it was hot with nowhere to sit and eat. After checking out the festival food options we decided to come Hokkaido for a late lunch.
Parking is limited in this strip mall but it was not busy when we visited. The outside is rather austere but the inside is more inviting with a cavernous open room with a fish pond, bar, and booth seating around the perimeter. In the center of the room is the hot and cold bars and hibachi. They also have a party room.
Hokkaido offers all of the typical items you would expect to find at this kind of buffet. We started off with the sushi bar where there was a decent selection of rolls and sashimi. From there we tucked into the hot and cold bars with seafood like peel and eat shrimp, crawfish, clams, and mussels, fried foods that included crab Rangoon, sweet and sour chicken, and egg rolls and traditional Asian dishes that included chicken Teriyaki, General Tso chicken, salt and pepper shrimp, green beans, noodles, chicken and broccoli, fried rice, lo mein and more. There is also soup, salad, steamed buns, and the aforementioned hibachi. Dessert is fresh fruit, cakes, pastries, Jell-o, and ice cream.
The restaurant is spacious and clean and the food selection is fresh and plentiful. I can't think of anything that made this buffet stand out but the prepared food was executed well. Everyone in our party was able to find something they liked and we all left full. Depending on when you come, an adult buffet range in price from $11.99 to $17.99. A Yelp check in netted me an additional 10 percent off which was a nice surprise. For the price, Hokkaido Buffet is a solid option. The all-you-can-eat concept is definitely the main selling point, and if you're really hungry or looking to try a wide variety of dishes, it offers great value for money. It’s not the highest quality food you’ll find, but for a buffet, it’s definitely worth the price. If you're craving an all-you-can-eat buffet with a variety of Asian flavors, this spot has a...
Read moreI don't care what you guys say, whatever your experience was, this is the BEST BUFFET I have ever been to. I don't live in Florida, but whenever I'm looking for Chinese or Japanese food, I always say "I wish I could go to Hokkaido." Some reviews say the sushi was bad, but it was one of the best sushi I have ever had. And all for a cheap price, the customer service was awesome, and the fact they have, like, the BIGGEST selection of dessert was awesome. They have anything asian here, and their sushi is amazing, delicious, and everything else. The sushi here- I just cannot stop talking about it. It is majestic, it is awesome, I tasted sushi I have never tasted before at Hokkaido. This sushi is the most amazing sushi I've ever had, it was absolutely mouth watering. Maybe some people here have expensive taste or something, and I have really expensive taste, but whenever I am hungry, I will beg, wish, crave, to eat at Hokkaido. PLEASE, IF YOU ARE EVER IN THIS AREA, GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. This is one of the BEST buffet AND restaurants I have EVER been too. Please go. I would rate infinite stars if I could. There's absolutely nothing bad about this place. I could spend YEARS ranting on how good and delicious this place pleased me with.
