My family and I drove to Florida on our first family road trip from Canada! It was a long 3 days to get here with 2 young kids but so glad we have the experience. We spent several days lounging at our campsite, but did venture off to Disney World, Gatorland, some local flea markets, and shopping. We stayed here for 1 week and overall it was a positive experience. I'm especially grateful for the groundskeeping staff who entertained my 5 year old and putting a huge smile on his face so many times throughout our stay. If you get the chance to read this, thank you. These are memories I know he'll have forever. I would also like to note they were very accommodating with adding 2 days to our pre booked site when we decided to come down earlier. They rearranged some things so we didn't have to switch sites, and we really appreciated that! We are avid campers throughout Ontario, but I like to leave Pro's and Con's lists for future campers looking for a place to stay :)
Pros: -Pool and hot tub are open until 9pm -Sites are maintained well as far as grass cutting/tree trimming -Multiple washers and dryers -Close to grocery stores, restaurants, shopping and a 20 minute drive to Disney World -Heated salt water pool & hot tub with ample lounging chairs and covered tables -The groundskeeping staff are very friendly and attentive -Convenient garbage pickup at your site during the day
Cons: -Showers need updated badly. Very low water pressure (at one point I had to turn around to make sure the water was in fact still running), and the "hot" water lasted under 5 minutes before it became cold. There's also no dry area in the shower to get dressed afterwards so that sucked. -The kids park needs cleaned. It's quite disgusting the amount of grime that is built up on the playground. I don't expect a playground to be "clean", because kids are gross, but it's coated in black grime. A quick soak and power wash would clean it up nicely! Was also disappointed there was no infant/toddler swing for the little ones. -One of the younger office staff we found to be very off putting and quite snotty. This was over a few interaction's so not sure if that's just her attitude or if she just hates her job but it definitely sucked to encounter when the remainder of the staff were so kind -We found 75% of the wood we purchased on site wasn't quite dry and it was really difficult to get the fire going -I swear the full bars of wifi is just for show 🥲 it's really not great but I do find it works best at night. We also didn't have good cell service here (AT&T), it was very spotty -Store is only open until 5pm, it is what it is but it does suck especially if you're out during the day and get back after dinner and want firewood or something. Just have to plan ahead!
I see some other reviews with similar "cons", so hopefully over time the owners will take these into consideration. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely...
Read moreReally great place and I would recommend. I took my tween daughters and her friends on a weekend for her birthday and we stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin with the bunks.
Overall, nice activities for kids and dogs and staff are so wonderful! Cabins were nice and clean. WiFi was absolutely non-existent throughout entire campground. Not even enough signal to check my email so be aware. It’s a cell signal black hole even though it’s right by everything which is so odd but I don’t blame them for the signal- just the WiFi. I have Verizon and my husband has Cricket and both of us couldn’t even call and we could occasionally text. I literally walked around the main of the campground trying to connect to Wi-Fi just for my email and I did it at 5AM before anyone would be using it and I could not connect at all!
The rest of the review is just for weirdly thorough people like me who like to be prepared:
Provided: They do provide many things that they don’t need to. Dish Soap, hand soap, and a dish rag. Shampoo/conditioner/body washer dispensers are in the shower and full. Definitely enough for a family for the week. Grilling utensils for the gas grill and even lighters for the fire pit. A broom and dustpan but no other cleaning items. One paper towel roll (small and thin, two toilet paper rolls (also small and thin), and three total trash bags in the can. Blankets, pillows, and linens for all potential beds including even extra for the bunks in case of an accident. Steak knives, small cutting board, and a few food prep knives. A Keurig set up that even includes a few K-cups, creamers, sugar packets, sweetener packets, and coffee stirs.
Not provided that I noticed: Any measuring items outside of a 3 cup liquid measuring cup. No ice trays and there is not an ice maker. No food storage of any kind for leftovers, etc. No mixing bowl or whisk (like for pancakes :( ).
Notable mentions: Wendy’s and Waffle House are both right up against the campground so you can just walk over. Sam’s Club is right across the street and it’s just a side street so you can also walk over there. If you don’t mind walking even a teensy bit further there’s a Target and mini golf plus a bunch of other stuff less than a half mile walk. I live in Orlando and hate the traffic and prefer a stress-free walk when possible and it’s typically faster than trying to drive and park through...
Read moreThis was our third time at this campground. We liked it as a good place for a getaway that is close to our home. The kind couple who run the place are very good hosts; friendly, helpful and happy. The pool and public spaces look like a great choice post-pandemic.Not many campers used the facilities for that reason. On the other hand, social distancing is no problem. Campsite size is generous and there never really was a need to be concerned about how far away we were from other people. That was rather refreshing.
While the couple who run the place were nice, the man who works there also, not so nice. Like a cop waiting to catch you doing something wrong. Very uncomfortable to the point that we might cancel the reservation made for next weekend.
I should provide brief detail on what happened. Cut to the exciting ending: "always ask when unsure at the trailer park". We need three things that KOA provides everyone: water, sewer and electric. We got all three but someone had left some adaptor on the water spigot and I could not screw on my potable water hose that provides fresh water to the motorcoach. I removed the adaptor, screwed on the hose and it worked. Later, while on a walk, a man who works there approached me saying I had ruined the plumbing at one of the sites I had stayed at previously and were likely to do that today. The thing I removed was supposed to be there and my (brand new, top of the line) hose must be messed up if it did not work.
I may be new to the world of RV's but I have successfully screwed a hose both on and off of faucets for quite some time. This is not brain surgery. I do have the ability. "Jim" was a jerk and ruined the ambiance of the campground.
In all fairness, this might all be due to the fact that this particular KOA is a "Journey" property meaning marketed to those with short stay needs, like a night or two on the way to somewhere else. Next time we'll step up to "Holiday" which seems to offer more. Maybe everyone will be pleasant. I doubt we would do "Resort" level because we don't really need to be entertained. We like to be in the RV, enjoying it. We...
