We, a group of 4 — husband, wife, mother, and 6-month old baby — reserved one night at this motel back in April (over 2 months ago). We spent one day in RMNP and planned to come here to eat dinner from our cooler, shower, and get a good night’s rest.
The motel had different plans for us. When we arrived at 6PM, the front desk staff told us that our room wasn’t ready (despite the fact that check-in began at 2PM), and that we would have to wait.
We went back in to check how close they were to being finished preparing our room after an hour of waiting, and they explained that the people in the room before us completely trashed it so they had to spend extra time time doing a deep clean. Frankly, as someone with a lot of germ anxiety, I would rather NOT know that the room was “trashed”.
We waited for 2 hours. Way past baby’s bed time. We had to skip our dinner plans.
We did not enter our room until after 8PM.
we wish they would have told us that it would take two hours to get the room ready so that we could have made our own decision about whether we would wait or just find somewhere else rather that waiting without any knowledge of when it would be ready. Not knowing anything led us to be unable to plan accordingly.
When we entered the room, it REEKED of cleaning products — so much so that we had to open a window because it gave us headaches (well, it exacerbated the ones we already had). Not to mention that babies especially should not be inhaling those fumes. Unfortunately, the window did not have a screen, so mosquitos entered the room. Alas, we had to suck up the fumes stench.
the footsteps from the people upstairs were extremely loud. There is no soundproofing.
there are no overhead lights, only white-light lamps.
the sink is in the room rather than in the bathroom. I had to wash all of my breast pump and baby bottle parts. This meant that baby had to stay awake since I had to keep a light on and make noise to do this.
6 the toilet makes a ton of loud noises randomly throughout the night.
7 while the front desk person and cleaning person were both extremely kind and hospitable, the manager’s was atrocious. My mother-in-law spoke with her and the manager took ZERO responsibility for making us wait for two hours. She blamed it on the fact that they were short-staffed. No compensation issued.
What’s more is the fact that the manager did not apologize for making us wait two hours for our room. I will say that the room was very clean and that was much appreciated, however, the lack of apology or acknowledgement towards her business’s shortcomings on their most basic duty of providing a room for reserving clientele...
Read moreStrongly do not recommend this hotel. Stayed here recently and apparently a functioning toilet is considered an acceptable way to allow a guest room booking and stay in their hotel. Arrived early and asked about check-in and was pointed to a sign indicating check in wasn’t until 3pm. Upon asking if there was a park in town where I might spend time until check-in my question was followed by silence and no response. After standing there waiting for a response for an extended length of time I was given a room indicating something was broken in the room but that someone was coming to fix it. Once in the room I found the toilet seat was taped and the toilet handle did not work nor was there any water to the toilet and all the parts inside the tank were broken – the toilet did not function AT ALL. I was forced to use the public bathroom in the breakfast area which also had a broken toilet seat, an unclean toilet bowl (which had obviously been dirty for some time), and no paper towels. No one ever showed up to fix the toilet nor did any of the staff care. I was never given another room or communicated with that someone was not coming to fix the toilet. The room also did not have any water or coffee cups, and no soap. There was no discount given for a room without a toilet, apparently this hotel thinks a toilet is an amenity that is not necessary for a nights’ stay. I’m surprised that this is even legal in the state of Colorado – booking a room without a toilet. Additionally, the staff seemed inconvenienced to even have a guest check in and was more interested in the rest of the staff than...

Deb reached out to me and apologized for the experience. She told me she has since had the room treated and the bed and furniture replaced. She was also kind enough to reimburse me for the stay. I have not yet seen a bite or bug after we left. Thank goodness! My rating is still low due to having had this experience but I’m sure other positive ratings are also a true reflections of the experiences of others.
Original Review:
BED BUGS! Beware!!
A week ago tonight a friend of mine and I stayed in this hotel. We figured it was a reasonably priced room for a night. The next evening my friend got in the shower only to discover his entire right side of his body covered in bed bug bites! Even on his head! He and I spent the next several days fumigating all of our belongings” these images are from today. The bites were much more apparent the day after this happened. They still linger and who knows when they will be gone. Trip advisor sent us a link to review our stay at Super 8. I gave my honest opinion and experience. I was fair. This was the owner’s response. See image 4. Don’t worry Debra, I don’t want a free night at your hotel. I’m just here to warn the other people of what could happen at your establishment. Her response is absurd. I never found a bug and decided to stay there. The damage was done before we had any clue what had happened. No my friend doesn’t have a skin condition. He is in his mid 40s and has never had a skin issue. These are bed bug bites! Gross!! Shame on you for not being a responsible host and addressing my concerns in a...
