My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids), stayed at The Summit during February school vacation week. I requested a top floor because I was worried about noise and the hotel honored the request which was great! I didn't realize that the stairwell was exterior so we had to go up and down the stairs in the cold/with snow on the walkways. It wasn't a big deal just something to keep in mind if you're staying in the winter or on a stormy day. ||Room: |The room was spacious. We stayed in 211, which was top floor, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. As others have mentioned, the room could use an updating with the carpets and furniture, but overall, it was clean and roomy enough for a family of 5. My son said the pullout couch was a bit firm but he slept ok on it - probably wouldn't be great for an adult. One weird thing was the dresser drawers. They wouldn't shut! All of the dresser drawers in the place were open all the time. Note that there was no housekeeping, and you have to bring your towels to the front desk if you want new ones. To avoid this, we just used the in-unit washer/dryer to wash our towels. One weird thing is that the room had a strange smell that came in through the bathroom. It wasn't a bad sewage smell but smelled like cooking turkey. We kept joking that our neighbors must be cooking a turkey dinner. The smell permeated the whole room each day and made our clothing smell. ||Property: Because there was so much snow on the ground, we didn't walk around the property much. It looks like they have a nice playground with an outdoor pool. I'd like to come back in the summer to make full use of the amenities. We did visit the farm next door for snow shoeing and that was fun! As others mentioned, there's no restaurant on-site so we went to the local grocery store to pick up snacks and ate at nearby restaurants. ||Lodge:|The main lodge was great. There is a racquetball room, a gym, a (very) small arcade, a ping-pong table, coloring pages for kids, books, a small store, and a pool with a bathroom/changing area. My kids loved the pool every day. It was nice to sit inside, enjoying the pool area while the outside looked like a winter wonderland. There are two slides, one for smaller children that's very slow and one for bigger kids/adults. There's a Roman hot tub that fits about 20 people. We have no complaints about the condition of the pool and hot tub, but it would be nice to have a staff member supervise the area as many teenagers were climbing up the slides, jumping in and out of the hot tub, and bringing drinks into the hot tub. (Or it'd be nice if parents supervised!) The pool area also has a little bar where you can get alcoholic or fun non-alcoholic drinks. We loved our time at the pool. ||Staff:|All of the staff members were so nice! From check-in to those who were clearing and shoveling the walkways to the lady working at the bar, everyone we interacted with was pleasant, kind and smiled at us. ||Location:|The location is awesome. Close to Gunstock for skiing and tubing, Funspot arcade, Kellerhaus for ice cream, and lots of restaurants. If you're there in the summer Weirs Beach is just minutes away. ||Overall, we had a great stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and quiet. The pool was awesome, and the staff was A+. Looking forward to staying here again...
Read moreWe came to the Summit knowing a lot of things would be closed early December. It was a quiet getaway week. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with smiles and friendly people. We were directed to our room, the building furthest from the guest registration building (and the pool) but that was ok, just a short drive. The unit was very nice, clean and stocked with everything we needed for a weeks stay. Nice little shampoo samples, etc. Not sure why we were given a handicapped unit, only downside was the lack of some cabinets but otherwise it was fine, just hope no one was inconvenienced by our being in this unit. There is a small gym, a game room and a small store and the pool, oh the pool..a large spa like hot tub and a large pool with a slide and a smaller pool with a slide. What fun!! It was crowded weekends but we had the place to ourselves during the week. Off season is great! In the lobby there have a coupon list with several restaurants on it. Grab the paper and check out which restaurants you are interested in and just ask at the desk for the coupons. Free appetizers or percentage off. Nice perks!!
Our one hitch was the main TV in the living room, it's Direct TV and while we understand inclement weather interrupts service, something was wrong with the box..it constantly froze even though they tried several times to fix it. It was unwatchable. They were most pleasant in trying to figure out the issue. I hope they get it fixed for the next people coming in to the unit. All in all a great week. I'd...
Read moreI spent a week here not too long ago, and the experience was something I will never forget (in a good way lol)
The room I stayed in was beautiful and nicely taken care of. It had a washer and dryer, a big TV, and lots of storage space! The only complaint I could possibly think of is that the shower I used was a tad bit small (I'm a 120-pound, 5'7 female) and accidently hit the door open 3d17684qd6. So maybe a bigger shower or a lock on the inside?
The service was wonderful! The people who work there are very nice and attentive 👍 My stay was also surprisingly quiet- no awfully loud noises from workers or other residents. The community seems very safe and welcoming
Hotel activities: Outstanding, to say the least. The indoor pool is heated but not too warm - it's still refreshing. There's also a gigantic hot tub and a deck area for breath-taking views. There's also a smaller outdoor pool with shaded table areas. Tennis, basketball and volleyball are also available - equipment has to be requested at the front desk. There's also a cute little firepit next to volleyball court
