The stay was great and the Serving Staff was extra friendly and I would stay there again. However the Management was exceptional rude. I went with a party and we all called in to place our charges separately to split the room. They put an additional $170 dollars on my card which i thought was the deposit. So when we showed up they wanted me to put an extra deposit down and I refused to since I already did. They said it wasn't the case and told me to not worry about it and call them next week to figure out. I refused and I wanted it figured out now. In the end we found that they charged another member of my parties stay to my card and not his, which we don't understand how especially since he called in with his card AND they sent him a slip to sign, which ended up being for my card. At That point I was ok with signing and walked away to figure it out later, since they were busy (and we at least understood what happen). I went back that evening when they were slower and asked if we could reverse the charges and have him pay for his part now. I was told they would prefer not due to CC fees to but it is up to us on what we want to do. I said I would go back and speak with the other member on what he wanted to do since it was his money. He wanted to have it taken care of on the spot, so we went the next day to have them refund me and charge him. When I went in and asked the manager came out loudly saying to the front desk girl, "I thought we took care of this yesterday! No we cannot refund you and charge him, you two need to figure it out between yourself!" I explained to her he didn't have available cash and wanted to use his card, and never mind there fees, I've been paying interest on this charge for 4 months, since i wasn't expecting it. She flat out refused to help us rectify their mistake. They even admitted it was their mistake, as a company you shouldn't be worried about a 2.5% fee for a mistake you make. It would of cost you less then $10 bucks to fix this problem on a $500 a night stay..... It's a shame that such a Great establishment can't take care of their guest past the simple things.
EDIT Their response stating the charges were corrected is false, They refused to correct this charge and I had to dispute it with my credit card, which caused a fraud report and I had to cancel my card and get a new one to comply with the policies. I don't know why they...
Read moreMy stay at the Naswa was somewhat underwhelming.
It was off season, which came with the benefit of being quiet, but at the cost of ammenities. Dining was closed the night I arrived and the options in the area were slim, to say the least. I did not end up eating at either of the on-site restaurants the second day as the Blue Bistro seemed to be overpriced for the expected quality and the Nazbar did not have a menu available online.
Staff was somewhat rude upon check-in and my request to use the kayaks was treated like an imposition for them. They claimed to know nothing about the free kayak rental and denied it existed, despite the website saying it did, and only when I showed them my room key did they offer any help. I guess they must not have believed I was a guest. Kayak rental was full of red tape and required me to sign a waiver and I could only use the kayak in a small designated area. I'd hate to go swimming here, as the designated swimming area is only about waist deep.
Check out was much smoother than check in, as whoever was working that day allowed us an extra hour, extending the time from an unusually early 10 am to a more reasonably 11 am.
The rooms, however were comfortable and clean. I stayed in a cabin and it had a panoramic view of the lake from the deck. Wouldn't want to be here on-season as I'm sure it would be noisy well into in evening. Showers were high pressure and warm and they offered nice toiletries. Beds were incredibly comfortable and sheets felt very clean. However, the televisions were miniscule and there were few plugs available in the room aside from the one in the kitchenette which required me unplugging the coffee maker and microwave to use.
Overall, I'd say I had a decent stay but I wouldn't be in a hurry...
Read moreI am usually writing good reviews due to our excellent travel karma, but this time we hit a snag. First, the front desk and restaurant does get five stars, the staff here is amazing, very accommodating and professional. But the overall hotel, motel, suites, resort, gets a two star at best. The room clearly has not been remodeled since the mid 70s, as you can see by my pictures, there is a drop ceiling in our deluxe suite with the most unforgiving fluorescent lights mounted in the ceiling. There is wood paneling all around, the carpeting is at least 30 years old and the entire room smells like cigarette smoke, even though it was non-smoking. Clearly the smoke smell is in the old drop ceiling tiles the carpet and anything else that will absorb the smell. For a resort, it smelled like the old roadside motels of the 70s. 4 of the 5 lamps I turned on I had to jiggle the lightbulb and jiggle the switch to get them to work. Our children are grown, but if you take a look at the picture of the stove, all the push buttons for all the burners easily reachable by a toddler, right on the front. As you can see even the blinds did not work. The WiFi is included but is as slow as it gets. The only thing positive I can say about the room is that the windows did open so that we could receive some fresh air from the smoke infested room. This room was $270 for the night, I would still be giving it a two star if it was $89! As far as staying here, you make your own decision and suffer the...
