I’ve been here three times and have always gotten an unsettling vibe that included a lack of engagement and very unfriendly looks from staff. No one has ever greeted me or initiated assistance without me expressing interest in the product selection or asking specific questions. This is a stark contrast from other stores that I’ve visited in the three other states I’ve lived in prior to moving here. The last and final time I shopped here, I tried to get the attention of an older male attendant who was no more than 3 feet away from me and I was ignored. I had planned to spend approximately $200 or so for a top of the line spirit for a special occasion. I left feeling uneasy and I decided to check the lowest reviews for this establishment and my suspicions were confirmed. I am a highly educated minority woman that is well-to-do , but I guess your staff would never assume that of me which is the only reason I can surmise about why I have never been assisted nor even GREETED here. I’ve even tried to make small talk with the cashiers while being checked out and I was always met with awkward silence and blatant disregard. I regret spending hundreds of my hard earned dollars in this establishment and will be doing my research from now on BEFORE I shop anywhere in Colorado. I’d rather drive 20 minutes away even though this shop is walking distance from my home than to venture into a store that hires staff that lacks basic customer service skills and courtesy. If you’re the owner reading this, don’t bother asking me to reach out and speak with you about the matter. Based on your reviews, this is an ongoing issue and you need to address it. Hire friendlier staff or continue to lose business....
Read moreLakewood, CO is finally complete with the addition of a fantastic new beer, wine & spirits store in the Belmar development. Chris & Keith are the 2 driving forces behind Mile High Wine & Spirits and they're backed up by the best overall liquor store staff I've ever encountered. Every time I go in there I just have to vaguely describe what I'm looking for and they come up with several great choices for me to choose from - everyone a home run. They've broken my dependency on the mainstream California cabs & chards for Spanish, Italian and other delights and they've definitely heightened my beer drinking experience. Who knew 6 months ago that I'd have a blend of pinot noir and IPA waiting to be savored in my refrigerator! And, these guys go above and beyond hosting regular wine and beer tastings at local restaurants and art gallerys. Recently they had 6 of the regions finest microbreweries representing their best stuff (some of it not even available in stores ;-) at the Gaslight Grill in Lakewood. So much great beer, so many great brewmasters, too little time. This is the store you go out of your way to patronize. They'll steer you right and actually save you time (and their prices are great too) because you are no longer staring blankly at a rack of wine wondering what in the hell do I buy! Do yourself a favor and head over to Mile High tonight! Oh & they have a great discount club that costs nothing to join and saves you 5 to 15% on...
Read moreRecognizing the increased competition with grocery stores carrying beer now I try to continue supporting specialty shops bc of their superior selection which makes this review unfortunate. I purchased a New England IPA that had an off flavor or a flaw if you will. It had ethyl acetate (think nail polish) and a touch of banana which is likely from an unfiltered beer undergoing further fermentation after packaging in a warm environment. That or the brewery released a flawed beer. Either way it’s an unacceptable product. I asked to return the product and the lady would not. It’s an unfortunate situation but I would have hoped they accommodated for the problem. I would have expected Whole Foods next door to take the return. Albeit they are a large corporation but I’m more likely to buy beer from them when in the area now. I’m bummed the small shop didn’t have better...
