I have never written a negative review, but had to share to help others avoid this place: The Innkeepers are extremely rude, negative, and judgmental. We were asked to leave because my 16 yr old daughter got chocolate on a chair. The woman told us we got chocolate on a chair in the library. My daughter assumed the room with shelves of books was the library and told me she hadn't been in that room. So, I told the woman my daughter didn't go in that room. She passive aggressively snapped back, " I literally saw them on the security camera get chocolate on the chair." So the room without books is the library and indeed my daughter did get chocolate accidentally on a chair with food that was served in that room. We also moved a dining chair less than one foot over to accommodate a table of 3 and the woman sprinted over with her pursed face to exclaim, " We do not move furniture!" She was on the attack at all times. The creepy husband asked me to step outside with him one on one to ask for us to leave the inn. I have to reiterate we were friendly, pleasant, quiet, smiling guests the whole time. Perhaps he's had other guests shout and yell at him (understandably) , so wanted to ensure the other guests weren't disturbed. I didn't stand up for myself because my jaw was on the floor. I was too shocked to know how to respond. Additionally, the innkeepers were charging the incorrect cc which they said was my fault. I don't have a cc ending in the numbers they were trying. Instead of trying to figure it out with me, they told me I didn't have enough money to stay there. So there I was with my 2 daughters on our first day of summer vacation and no place to stay. (Thousands of miles from home.) We pieced together 6 nights at different hotels and created a wonderful vacation in spite of being kicked out of the Saratoga inn on our first day. The woman is hateful and spiteful and I still can't wrap my head around the ugliness she spewed at us. I paid $385 to be harassed by this awful couple. Avoid them at all costs. By the way- she got the chocolate off the chair easily. I do highly recommend Captain Whidbey Inn, Ship Harbor Inn, Grand Hyatt in Seattle. No problem with my cc being charged at each of these fine...
Read moreBe forewarned that if you plan to stay in the Carriage House unit that it is above the maintenence rooms for the maintenence man. (See picture, the maintence rooms are behind the garage doors on the ground floor. The Carriage House unit is directly above the maintence rooms on the 2nd floor.) When I stayed in the Carriage House unit, the maintenence man arrived at 9 am and proceeded to use a power saw, a loud sander or noisy machine, apply stinky varnish or paint and other loud power tools in the maintenence room below the Carriage House. It was very loud and the varnish or paint he used stunk and I could also smell gas from some kind of tool he used. The smell wafted up to my room and concentrated in the Carriage House unit even though I closed the windows. I hoped he would stop, but at 3:50 pm he appeared to be starting yet another loud project directly below the Carriage House. I went to complain about the noise and was told by the front desk person that 1) she "did not know that I was there," and 2) that the maintenence man was had been scheduled for the next day as well. I do not understand why the Saratoga Inn would schedule loud maintenence projects on the days that they had a guest paying $500 per night for the room above! Also, I fail to understand the front desk person's comment that, "she did not know I was there." Of course I was there, I paid for the room. The front desk person did get rid of the maintenence man and did apologise, but the next morning a huge Costco delivery semi truck came and idled under my window for 45 minutes while they delivered some large item and they used the semi-truck's loud power lift system to lower the large item. If you plan to stay in any of the rooms, make sure to request that they not plan to perform maintenence on the days you plan to stay. Also, if they start loud maintenence, be sure to let the staff know that it bothers you immediately. The staff clearly have no idea of what is going on. At $500 per night, you should not have to put up with loud noises and toxic fumes and crashing...
Read moreIt's becoming more difficult to find truly wheelchair accessible places to stay anymore. (The stories I could write about some of our travels would make you cringe in disbelief.) My husband is paralyzed and in a WC. Did the Saratoga Inn work out for us? Yes. It turned out to be one of the best hotel experiences for us in a long time. To start with, we use a van with a side ramp and there was a parking place next to the Tesla charging station that worked perfectly for us. There was ramp access up to the veranda and lobby entrance. Inside, there was ample aisle space to navigate, tables for us to sit at in the dining area, the fireplace area and library. One of the first things we noticed was no awful TV blather whatsoever in the public areas. Hooray!!! Just some good, enjoyable music playing softly. We stayed for three nights in Room 4 that had room to move for a WC, a king sized bed, roll-in shower, toilet w/grab bar on the right, a fireplace, a ceiling fan and a small outside covered deck with a table and chairs + partial view of the water. Jason was kind to accomodate our request for a mini-frig and microwave. The bed was very comfortable, with soft sheets and pillows. The library had a very nice selection of DVDs, books, games, very good coffee, a lemon water dispenser, and a selection of teas. Even though we're not vegetarian, the breakfasts were very tasty with various egg/vegetable/cheese combo dishes, herbed potatoes, fresh fruit, some type of pastry (plum tart) or muffins (blueberry, morning medley), yogurt and granola, oatmeal with various toppings, OJ, different breads and English muffins to toast. The 4-5 pm tea (or wine) times were also very enjoyable with warm artichoke dip, good bread, molasses cookie cream tartlets that we had for one of the afternoons there. In all, this hotel and the managers (Jason and Christy (sp?) and staff were the best. We look forward to...
