Arrived in Langley around 1pm, so Useless Bay and Braeburn had 30 minute waits. Saw this place across the street with lots of open tables and the menu had some great options. Ordered the vegan sweet potato wrap, but they didn't have it, so I went with my back-up option of a frittata. They didn't have that either, so I got the egg and potato scramble for $8 and paid an extra $1 to add bell peppers.

Ordered a golden 'mylk' latte as well, which they asked if it was okay to be made with whole milk. I assumed the spelling meant it was made with a pre-determined milk alternative, but I went with the oat milk featured on the menu when asked. They were out of it, so I got coconut instead. It was steamed pretty hot and had so much tumeric on top that the first few sips were grainy and numbing on the tongue. Once it had cooled and I'd gotten past the top layer, the rest tasted good.

After waiting about half an hour, my scramble came out with half of a buttered English muffin. The potatoes were good, but the eggs were a bit too browned for my personal preference. It was "home-cooking" quality, but at a price I wouldn't pay for again, especially...

Got to place with high hopes, when we walked in we realized that it the only staff is the young girl taking orders and a cook. The young girl was very friendly and bubbly, while the cook seemed very stand offish. After ordering, the cook walked up and informed the girl taking orders that the only choice of protein he was making was bacon. Since two of the 3 of us don't eat meat, this was disappointing. We altered our order and then after ordering, the cook walked over to tell the girl he was only doing sandwiches. We were refunded for our breakfast plate and given a free second sandwich for replacement which was very kind, but we had chosen to eat at this restaurant over others since they had other options that our toddler could easily eat. The sandwiches were sub par at best (untoasted English muffin with overcooked egg and cheese) and coffee wasn't great. Hostess was the only saving grace of entire experience and the only reason I'd give this place a semi...

I would love it if they had more dairy free/ allergen friendly options on the food menu. It's still a great relaxed atmosphere for the community, though, as it has been for a long time now. 💚🖤💚

Edited in response to the comment to say:

Omg, thank you for all the info! I love that you have so many options available! Even if you didn't, I still would come back anyway because I love how relaxed the atmosphere is.

I believe in supporting small, local, independently owned businesses. Especially when they provide such a valuable safe space for the community as the Commons does.

Keep doing what you're doing!

(P.S. to say that I felt so disappointed to find out that the Thai Curry Coconut soup had dairy cause I LOOOVE Thai coconut curry anything, and it's pretty much a requirement to try it at least once anywhere it's offered. I wanted to try it so bad but made...

My first time at The Commons, and it didn’t disappoint! I had the turkey pesto sandwich with a salad and an oat milk chai. The sandwich was amazing—totally unexpected to get a full piece of chicken! The service was quirky and friendly, which I really appreciate. Their book section was fantastic, featuring tons of local authors, and I especially enjoyed browsing the poetry section while waiting for my food. It’s a quaint, delicious little spot, with a cozy vibe—several people seemed posted up working on laptops. I’ll definitely be back for both the food and as a potential work spot!

Loved the experience here. Must visit place. The person serving was super jovial and appropriately chatty.. It was a partly sunny day. We had a vegan muffin which was the best ever. We don’t eat eggs and hence most times it’s hard to get good yummy muffins. But this one was perfect. Perfectly sweet- not tooo much sweet like every time. Perfect texture- not dry. We loved the ambience. They had seating outside as well as inside. Loved spending time with family here.
