My stay was ok, somr good and some not so good parts.
Let's start with the good, room was clean, AC was on when I got into the room. Mary the morning front desk clerk was so helpful and sweet it was great dealing with her. The lady who was taking care of the breakfast was also super nice, although I didn't catch her name.
Now the not so good. My check in experience was horrendous. When I first got there around 9:30, I had to ask if there was an ATM, becauce being Canadian I was having card issues to pay the cab driver. Joe the Night Manager was abrupt when I asked after one and then directed me to the closest one. A few minutes later I am back to check in. First I have to call 3 times before Joe comes out of the back office. I give him my name and the name of the company that booked my reservation and was handling it all. The first words out of Joe's mouth were "oh we were wondering about this reservation and the card was declined earlier". First off if it was declined you wouldn't have reserved the room and secondly hearing that is distressing, wouldn't the hotel contact the person regarding the reservation to ensure payment.... Joe was extremely dismissive of what was going on as I tried to connect with the company late at night (not so much a surprise, it's closed). I was trying to figure out a solution to this situation as my personal cards weren't working and Joe just stood there with no help and no sympathy. I understand there are company rules that need to be followed, but it was the lack of compassion for the situation that got me. Finally after 1.5 hours I was able to check in and get to me room.
I don't think a hotel's reputation should hinge on one employee, but he definitely contributed to the start of my stay commencing with a...
Read moreWould I stay here again ? Yes. Pros: good Location, pet friendly, rooms were pretty clean (other than old juice stains on mattress and fingerprints visible on headboard), full size fridge, comfy beds and front desk staff were all very nice and helpful. They let us check in early and accommodated a first floor room request. Basic, well maintained landscaping Good sack lunch type breakfast. You get a list of items available for breakfast, check off what you’d like every morning and drop the list off at front desk. Cons: Maintenance issues: stopper in tub was missing, tub faucet was leaking and door handle loose. They offered to call maintenance but it wasn’t a huge deal to us and we were fine to have those things taken care of after we left. HVAC fan was very loud, wakes you up at night when it kicks on. As mentioned, two large pink juice stains on mattress of pullout couch. That is something housekeeping should have noticed. Very tiny pet area. Pool area was open from 8-8 but had no chairs set up outside whatsoever. Not sure if this is due to Covid, but we’ve stayed at other hotels that provided seating and disinfectant to wipe down the chairs before and after use. Overall a pleasant stay and we enjoyed...
Read morePROS Great location in a nice part of town in close proximity to good restaurants (Nacho Daddy is in same parking lot and had an awesome vegan menu available for my husband and I). Comfortable bed. Full size refrigerator in our suite, which cost less than $20 to upgrade to. Front desk was responsive to problems in room. No extra pet fee. Interior access rooms make me feel more secure.
CONS Old coffee pod left in coffee maker. Leaky bathtub. TV didn’t work and had to get a new cable box. People not wearing masks in the lobby and mask policy wasn’t being enforced. Tiny pet relief area.
La Quintas are hit and miss for me. Some border on luxurious while others are like lipstick on a pig and others still are super-sketchy dives. I’d rate this one in the “lipstick on a pig” category.
You can tell they’ve done some upgrades and made the experience better but you can also tell it’s an older property with some janky aspects that reduce the sense of clean, modern comfort they’re trying to portray.
All in all, I’d stay here again if I needed a place to stay on this side of town. It wasn’t awful by any means but it wasn’t stellar...
