I recently stayed at the Fireside Inn & Suites in West Lebanon and unfortunately, my experience was far from relaxing. While check-in was smooth and the front desk staff was polite, the positive aspects pretty much ended there.
The lobby had a strange, dimly lit atmosphere and was cluttered with random trinkets and souvenirs. It felt more like an antique store than a welcoming hotel entrance.
Finding my room was an unexpected workout. I had to walk nearly two miles (not an exaggeration) while carrying a large duffel and tote. This included multiple staircases and twisting hallways before finally reaching the room at the end of a long corridor. There were no elevators or assistance in sight — not ideal for anyone with luggage or mobility issues.
When I entered the room, it was hot and stagnant — no air conditioning running beforehand, just a wall of stale air. The room itself was severely outdated. The furniture looked like it hadn't been updated since the mid-90s — and that’s being generous. Anything metal in the room was rusted, and many surfaces were sticky or stained with what looked like old drink rings.
The bed was passable — better than a previous hotel I stayed at — but still far from comfortable. When I tried turning on the nightstand lamp, it wouldn’t even power on. I also heard electrical zapping sounds from the outlet. I ended up having to swap lamps around the room, but none of the outlets seemed to hold a plug securely.
I had been looking forward to the Keurig in the room, only to find it disgustingly sticky and nearly impossible to open. The water reservoir lid was fused shut, and thankfully, I didn’t attempt to use it.
The bathroom was no better. Outdated, grimy, and clearly neglected. The tub had a rust ring and a broken dry line attached to the side, which had nowhere to hook up to. The showerhead had pink residue — likely from hard water buildup or mold — and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned properly in years.
They advertised Bath & Body Works toiletries — that’s simply false. What was there was generic and mismatched.
The one redeeming feature? You could open the window — a rarity in hotels. Unfortunately, my room was directly above a busy common area where guests were partying well into the night. It made for a very noisy evening.
To top it all off, I found a heavily reused envelope asking for a housekeeping tip — with the room in the state it was, that felt more insulting than anything else.
Bottom Line: The Fireside Inn & Suites may have been a decent stay decades ago, but it’s now in desperate need of renovation, maintenance, and some basic hospitality standards. I would not recommend staying here unless there are absolutely no...
Read moreWe decided to treat ourselves and our kids to a nite at a hotel. My father just passed away and my fiances mother passed a week later,so we thought it would help to take our minds off of it. We got a poolside room,it was comfortable for the most part, except for the toilet had issues flushing and we kept having to re-attach the chain in the back. As far as the pool it was very nice and my kids loved it, my daughter also loved feeding the fish in the pond by the eating area, the breakfast spread was put together very well. The staff for when we checked in and the overnite to earlier am were so sweet and nice, they let my daughter feed the fish and it meant allot. BUT this is my complaint, the manager or whatever she is her name was Dana(i believe) was the snobbiest, rudest, and not someone I would ever put in charge of my customer service hotel employee I have ever encountered. The kids really wanted to stay another nite, so seeing as it was empty and a Monday nite we asked if we stayed another night would they match the price of the hotel up the street, doesnt hurt to ask anyway, and and we would of still paid regular price if they couldn't,but her attitude, deminar,as well as rude comments changed our mind. We have stayed at many hotels and have a timeshare down in Florida, and I was shocked at how we were treated. She was outside our room quite a few times, we saw her wispering to other staff members multiple times and was obviously about us. She had check our room before we left, made a rude comment about "how she had never seem a room quite like that" my fiance what she meant by that, and she responded with "oh IDK just very busy",and it was in a very judgemental snobby way. I didnt realize as a family of 4 that there is a certain way to be. Like I said before we kept having to fix the toilet, and my fiance had to tighten the shower head, and despite that we didn't complain and if it hadn't been for the treatment we received by this one staff member, the general manager I would be a returning guest. Now I will not only never recommend this hotel to anyone of our friends and family,I won't recommend it to strangers, and I WILL NOT go there again!!!!!!! She took an otherwise 4 star nite and made it a 2 star visit. Trust me there are plenty of places just as nice, and in sure you will be...
Read moreMy father-in-law is in bad shape and is at the local hospital. We've been going back and forth for the past few weeks staying at various Airbnb and hotels. My wife was stating how she really wanted a jacuzzi to relax in. This was the only hotel that had this option in the area. Going off of that information and the pictures. It looked pretty quaint and rustic.
The hotel features a Koi pond with turtles that you can hang out with. Thats about the extenet of the quaintness.
We checkied in and went to our room. 1st thing we always do is check for bedbugs. They do have covers on all the mattresses to prevent that so that was a plus. However, There was dust and dirt everywhere, literally caked on dust around the bed where we sleep.
The shower had absolutely NO pressure. The splash back from the toilet flushing had more pressure than the shower did. The facilities here are also extreamly outdated.
The beds are quite comfortable, and they have a pretty good size TV in the rooms. Bigger than most Hotels we have stayed at. However no options to stream services and log into your own accounts like "bigger" hotel chains.
The next morning we went down for breakfast. This was the BIGGEST dissapointment of the entire stay. It's hard to mess up breakfast but these guys literally said "Hold my Beer" and made breakfast a disgrace. The food was absolutly disgusting, the waffles and french toast sticks had a really weird flavor and after tatste, the coffee was just brown water, maybe they got it from the toilets I don't know but it sure tasted like it. Wife and I literally took 2 bites left our food and immediatly checked out. We drove the mile down the road to go to Sheryl's Diner. It wasn't the greatest food in the world but it was far superior to what the hotel offered and great pricing. We had breakfast for 2 for under $20 including tip.
I would not stay at this hotel again, especially for $200/night We stayed at an air bnb 2 weeks earlier in the same area for less money and had a much better experience. If I where you I would avoid this place...
